How this movie got produced at all. It's an affront to Italian-Americans everywhere, and all Brooklyn residents . The only positive note was the appealing actor who plays Mike Moona , but hard to believe that Sopranos alumni Vincent Pastore and Michael Rispoli agreed to be involved with this. Bad acting from all participants. They also could have made the "quaint" fruit store actually quaint. Harder to believe that Prime Video included it in their selection. And hardest still is that this is carrying an 8.8 rating. Do yourselves a favor, "youse" should skip this at all costs unless you have 2 hours of your life.
I know it's hard to compare a book to an adaptation. Most people are content to see a good book get modified when it makes it to the screen.
However, in this case, a,decent but forgettable book was turned into a complete and utter parody. I fear for our future that the person who adapted it thought they were doing a good job, and then Netflix gave it a green light. Liev Schreiber's character was cringe personified, and bore no relation to how a real person behaves. The son Thomas was a one dimensional jerk. Nicole Kidman ran the gamut of emotions from A to B, as usual. Benjy and Amelia had no on-screen chemistry. And Isabelle Adjani was probably the only actor who said yes to appearing in this farce.
The Graham character was totally unnecessary, as was the over-the-top wedding planner.
Don't waste your time.

If you just want to watch a director speak into a cellphone as he's interviewing his subjects, then this is the film for you. So poorly executed...why would he purposely interview one of his subjects in a crowded coffee shop where the background noise drowns out the speaker. Give it a miss.
