This is a decent formula "isolated with an alien" movie. We have all the standard characters from the disaccredited alien hunter Julian Rome played by a 43-year-old James Spader. There is possible love interest (not with the extraterrestrials), Janine Eser played by Kate Brecher. Scantily clad in the corn field, Nyla played by Leslie Stefanson. A character that freaks out over everything Dr. Michael Straub played by John Lynch (we just know he is going to be trouble.) And many other standard stereotypes.
A research station in the Antarctica runs across an anomaly. Naturally they dig it up in a block of ice and wait for it to melt (no it is not James Arness but it is just as good. The government suspects something like Roswell and sends in a top linguistic expert who doubles as a cryptologist, in the event he is needed.
We get to discover the secret at the same time they do. Lots of spooky music and lots of sneaking around action. We even have flashlights when they could have easily turned on the overhead lights. They could have played "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" Song by The Animals.
And you guessed most of what was going to happen. Will we become alien-chow? Will they phone home? Or will the world governments dispatch the research station as a precautionary measure. You will just have to wait and see a fairly unique ending.
I can tell you there is something corny about the station.

This movie would have been ok if it was one of the shark series or even Sharknado (2013). But the sark takes last place after this Hallmark love story.
The movie is one big warning that mankind is destroying the planetary resources for his own nefarious gain. It serves them right if some evil Black Demon takes revenge.
Paul Sturges (Josh Lucas), who has a problem sticking to speaking English, works for the unscrupulous oil company. He hauls his family down to Mexico to check out the safety of an off sure rig.
Nothing is what it seams as we find out someone falsified the safety reports and that ain't all.
The only character I cared about in the movie was the ferocious dog. If it sticks to formula he may become Shark-chow. O. K. Megalodon-chow.
Will Paul get away at the last minute and reconcile with his family or is he destoned to see shark innards? Do we really care?
Let us hope that there is not a sequel.

The story loosly based on a book "Incident at Muc Wa: A Story of the Vietnam War" by Daniel Ford. It takes place in1964; in the early days in South Vietnam. This was filmed in Valencia, California, USA. The reason for the movie title is revealed in the movie.
This is an excellent vehicle for Burt Lancaster.
I do not know how real this is as it plays out similar to "M*A*S*H" (1970) but I can tell you that when I was there, I got amebic dysentery and was surprised to see it in the movie at 51 minutes in. I was also amused at the mosquito counters. I was in charge of dispensing the "Monday Pill," a controversial anti-malaria drug. I had to get signatures to prove they took it. In the movie they had a nice latrine with a cover. I was given a shovel and a hand full of toilet paper and told to go outside the perimeter.
