Amebic dysentery - icky poo
21 December 2024
The story loosly based on a book "Incident at Muc Wa: A Story of the Vietnam War" by Daniel Ford. It takes place in1964; in the early days in South Vietnam. This was filmed in Valencia, California, USA. The reason for the movie title is revealed in the movie.

This is an excellent vehicle for Burt Lancaster.

I do not know how real this is as it plays out similar to "M*A*S*H" (1970) but I can tell you that when I was there, I got amebic dysentery and was surprised to see it in the movie at 51 minutes in. I was also amused at the mosquito counters. I was in charge of dispensing the "Monday Pill," a controversial anti-malaria drug. I had to get signatures to prove they took it. In the movie they had a nice latrine with a cover. I was given a shovel and a hand full of toilet paper and told to go outside the perimeter.
