A new season of Chicago P.D. has nearly arrived.
It was a long summer hiatus, but the show is back with Season 12 this fall.
The Chicago P.D. season premiere airs on Wednesday, September 25. It’s called Ten Ninety-Nine.
Intelligence will struggle as the season begins. After losing Detective Jay Halstead (played by Jesse Lee Soffer), it is still short a few people and must continue without Detective Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos).
Halstead last appeared early in Season 10, and Upton left Chicago during the Season 11 finale.
As a reminder, Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) also almost died during the previous finale, which could impact the first few new episodes.
Chicago P.D. fans might want to re-watch Season 11, Episode 13, before the new episodes arrive.

We’ll kick this off by saying Shawn Hatosy is easily one of the greatest actors of our generation.
No, that’s not hyperbole, and if anyone has had the distinct pleasure of watching him in literally anything, you’d know this isn’t up for debate.
So, as if Chicago Pd Season 12 isn’t stacking up to be one of the Best seasons of the series yet, his addition as a recurring guest star is icing on the cake.

Here’s the thing: Any series fortunate enough to survive the past five seasons knows how important it is to revitalize itself every few years.

It's been over 20 years since One Tree Hill made its television premiere on The WB and over 10 years since the beloved series came to an end on The CW. Time has only made fans adore the show more and more, and there's finally some good news on the potential future of the series: Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton Morgan are working on a sequel series at Netflix!
Before we get too excited about the prospect of returning to Tree Hill two decades later, it's the perfect time to look back at original cast members and celebrate their generation-defining series. One Tree Hill helped launch the careers of Chad Michael Murray, Hilarie Burton Morgan, Sophia Bush, James Lafferty, and Bethany Joy Lenz, and they're all still beloved today.
If you're diving back into your millionth rewatch of One Tree Hill (no judgment!), you're probably wondering how old the actors were compared to their teen characters.

Like Rishi Ramdani himself, Industry Season 3 Episode 4 was undeniably a high risk, but it resulted in one of the series’ finest rewards.
A fantastically frenetic “White Mischief” operated as a bottle episode that took us into Rishi’s world, and it’s a good thing we’re only passing through.
It was a taut, adrenaline-fueled, anxiety-ridden hour that was by far the series’ most intense to date; merely watching it felt like running a marathon.
(Simon Ridgway/HBO) Industry is the Phoenix Rising from the Ashes of Premier Television
Industry has fallen frustratingly under the radar despite being the pinnacle of prestige television at its absolute best.
For three seasons, it has consistently shown that intelligent, creative, character-driven, remarkable television still exists in a sea of reboots, revivals, and dwindling original ideas.

Chicago P.D. fans are buzzing after Jesse Lee Soffer and Tracy Spiridakos shared photos of themselves in Europe.
The former One Chicago stars played detectives Jay Halstead and Hailey Upton for years. Fans had given them the relationship name Upstead.
Jesse ended his run as Halstead early in Season 10, while Tracy ended her run as Upton during the Season 11 finale.
Online rumors had suggested the pair was more than friends, and their latest Instagram photos have further spurred that chatter.
While the remaining members of the Chicago P.D. cast are working on Season 12 episodes, Jesse and Tracy are enjoying a European vacation.
“Lisbon, you’re a beauty ❤️,” Tracy posted on a group of photos that featured Jesse in the first one.
She didn’t even address that Jesse was front and center, allowing the tease to speak for itself.

We’re manifesting a Trudy Platt comeback in Chicago Pd Season 12.
It’s no secret that Trudy is a fan-favorite character, and the only thing all Chicago Pd fans can agree on outside of our love for Trudy is that the series has criminally underused her for multiple seasons.
And that’s why Chicago Pd Season 12 has to be her year. We’re all in on a Trudy Platt resurgence.
(Lori Allen/NBC) Trudy Platt Has Always Been Chicago Pd’s Backbone and Secret Weapon
The incredible Amy Morton has brought so much to this role, and because of her performance, Trudy resonates with viewers.
At this point in the series, Trudy Platt is every bit as much of a staple as Voight himself.
As the tough-as-nails Den Mother of the series, Trudy’s presence is vital to the series and its other characters.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer on The Ark Season 2 Episode 7 because everyone’s skeletons are coming out of the closets.
If there is one thing you can count on when you keep people in close quarters for an extended period, there will be drama.
The creative team behind The Ark is starting to once again utilize the premise of “a snake in the hen house.”
(Aleksandar Letic/Ark TV Holdings, Inc./Syfy)
It’s the strongest arc to take on and will yield the most character growth and plot progression for the story.
Since its start, Season 2 has seen one external issue or problem after another. It is refreshing to see more internal struggles rather than another space catastrophe.
The Ark can only pull at that thread so many times before the premise becomes stale and boring.

Elsbeth stands out because it is one of the only lighthearted mysteries on television, but it never used to be that way.
These types of mysteries were extremely popular in the 1980s and 1990s. Murder She Wrote, Diagnosis: Murder, and Matlock were all top-rated shows, and that trend continued into the early 2000s when Monk and Psych captivated viewers.
Modern television is more likely to feature realistic, gritty police procedurals than lighthearted mysteries, but Elsbeth’s success suggests the tide could be turning back again.

CSI Changed The Television Landscape Its Surprising Popularity Pushed Lighthearted Mysteries Out Of The Way
Although more lightheaded mysteries are far from dead as a genre, they virtually disappeared from the airwaves after CSI premiered.
It doesn’t seem like it now because we are drowning in police procedurals, but CSI was revolutionary in its early days.

It would be just like the creative team behind Sunny to use a question as the title of an episode. Lord knows the series has been nothing but one question after another.
While the endless inquiries have been aggravating, they have also been one of the series’ biggest draws.
Many science fiction shows will worry about losing audiences if they don’t spoon-feed viewers exposition. That’s certainly not the case with Sunny.
(Courtesy of Apple TV+)
The show wisely utilized so many secrets because now that we are approaching the end, all of the other shoes can drop.
It’s been a wild, wacky adventure, but this ride is ending. Sunny is finally answering some big questions as a parting gift.
And they are doing it with all the camp and comedy that an A24 series can deliver.

Could Chicago Pd’s new cop be sparking with Kevin Atwater? The showrunner has chimed in!
The procedural is preparing for season 12 and welcoming a new face. The season 11 finale had Tracy Spirdakos depart as Hailey Upton to take on a new federal job. It’s already been announced that Toya Turner will be joining as Kiana Cook, a new officer assigned to the Intelligence Unit.
This is the first female addition to the team since Vanessa Rojas (Lisseth Chavez) joined back in season 7. That rookie cop was a good addition to the team and there were even hints at a growing romance with Kevin Atwater (Larocye Hawkins).
Before that could happen, however, season 7 was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic and then Chavez left the show. Season 8 had Rojas gone without even a mention of her, and Atwater has been bouncing around various storylines since.

The Season 23 finale of “Law & Order” left the fate of Tony Goldwyn’s D.A. Nicholas Baxter up in the air on election night, but showrunner Rick Eid told TheWrap ahead of the Oct. 3 premiere that the character has indeed won and will be back for the entire season.
He also promised that Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) will be “a big part” of the second episode, about the murder of a tech CEO. “[Benson] has a pre-existing relationship with the defendant in this case,” said Eid. “It’s really a big part of the episode. It felt organic to who Mariska’s character is, and it was an interesting element to the story that gave it another layer.”
Eid said the crossover, which also sees the return of Elizabeth Marvel’s character Defense Attorney Rita Calhoun, is more “organic” than some of the previous three-series premieres that included “Law & Order: Organized Crime.

Chicago Fire Season 12 ended on an important storyline for firefighter Sam Carver.
A call early in the season finale had Firehouse 51 responding to a kitchen fire at a restaurant.
Upon responding to that call, Truck 81 discovered a domestic situation between a father and his two sons.
One of the sons had a bad burn on his arm but appeared scared and said he had spilled a pot of boiling water on himself as his brother and father tried to get the firefighters and paramedics to leave.
Stella Kidd tried to defuse the situation, but the father pushed her, leading to Carver and new firefighter Jack Damon (played by Michael Bradway) stepping in.
This was a callback to Carver’s past, where his brother had burned him, but his father wouldn’t believe him. Carver still has the scars.
A complaint was later filed, but not before Kidd went after Carver...

Chicago P.D. has finally announced an addition for the new season.
Actress Tracy Spiridakos left the show during the Season 11 finale, ending her run as Detective Hailey Upton.
Upton was an important part of the Intelligence team, but the character was running out of road.
The previous season saw the exit of Detective Jay Halstead (played by Jesse Lee Soffer).
Losing her partner and husband put Upon in a tailspin from which she never recovered. She left Chicago to find herself again as Season 11 ended in Spring 2024.
While the Chicago P.D. cast has become familiar with adding new pieces, Upton’s shoes will be difficult to fill for anyone.

Mulroney, who recently starred in Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell’s “Anyone but You,” will play Chief Dom Pascal in the NBC procedural’s upcoming season. Chicago P.D. and FBI: International are in the same television universe, meaning the characters co-exist with each other.
Wolf Entertainment produces the One Chicago and FBI Universe shows, providing NBC with three hours of Chicago content and CBS with three hours of FBI content each week.
We have already seen Tracy Spiridakos (she played Detective Hailey Upton) appear on Chicago P.D. and then on FBI as the same character. It also keeps the door open for future crossovers.
As the shows prepare to return for the fall, they will break an unwritten role.
A former star from Chicago P.D. is jumping to FBI: International, but he will play an entirely new character.
This could be jarring for NBC viewers who watch both shows, but it could also lead to some fun future content.

Jesse Lee Soffer was announced as part of the FBI: International Season 4 cast.
