Exclusive: Thad Luckinbill is roaring into Season 2 of Lioness as a newly minted series regular. He will continue to play Kyle, a CIA Officer.

The Taylor Sheridan drama starring Zoe Saldaña and Laysla De Oliveira was renewed for a second season by Paramount+ earlier this month. Season 1 is available to stream in its entirety via P+.

Lioness is based on a real-life CIA program and follows Cruz Manuelos (De Oliveira), a rough-around-the-edges but passionate young Marine recruited to join the CIA’s Lioness Engagement Team to help bring down a terrorist organization from within. Saldaña plays Joe, the station chief of the Lioness program tasked with training, managing and leading her female undercover operatives.

The series also stars Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, Lamonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton and Hannah Love Lanier.

Paramount+ has renewed superproducer Taylor Sheridan’s spy thriller “Lioness” for Season 2, the streaming service announced Thursday.

The renewal comes with a slightly modified title; previously the show was known as “Special Ops: Lioness,” leaving open the possibility that it could be an anthology series focusing on a different special operations team each season.

But the original story will continue, and stars Zoe Saldaña, Laysla De Oliveira, Michael Kelly, Morgan Freeman, and Nicole Kidman. Saldaña and Kidman will continue to serve as executive producers, and Freeman will be upped to series regular after recurring in Season 1.

The series also stars Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, Lamonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, and Hannah Love Lanier.

Lioness, the Taylor Sheridan drama starring Zoe Saldaña and Laysla De Oliveira, has been renewed for a second season by Paramount+.

Previously titled Special Ops: Lioness, the drama is inspired by an actual U.S. military program that follows the life of Joe (Saldaña) while she attempts to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA’s spear in the war on terror.

Your Friends & Neighbors follows Coop (Hamm), a recently divorced hedge fund manager who, after being fired, resorts to stealing from the wealthy residents in his tony upstate New York suburb to keep his family’s lifestyle afloat. These petty crimes begin to reinvigorate him until he breaks into the wrong house at the wrong time.

Craig Gillespie (Physical) is set to direct the first two episodes and executive produce. Additionally, Emmy winners Greg Yaitanes and Stephanie Laing are set to direct three episodes each. The project reunites Lee and Tropper who worked together on Max’s Warrior, a series created by the latter. The project hails from Apple Studios.

Tropper, who served as showrunner for Apple’s See and has an overall deal with the streamer, created Your Friends & Neighbors and will serve as showrunner. He will exec produce alongside Hamm, Gillespie and Connie Tavel.

Bae has most recently been seen in Fallout, Special Ops: Lioness and Blue Bloods. Additionally, she has appeared in the feature film Dakota, and on Broadway in the Tony-winning revival of The Skin of Our Teeth, directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz. In this week’s episode of The Discourse, host Mike DeAngelo crosses into unfamiliar territory to discuss “The Absence of Eden” with star Zoe Saldana and her husband and first-time director Marco Perego-Saldana. Jon Hamm says the new Taylor Sheridan drama Landman is “halfway through” filming. News of the Sheridan-created project, which features Hamm alongside Demi Moore and Billy Bob Thornton, first made headlines last month.

“We’re already halfway through it,” Hamm told People this week. “It’s Taylor Sheridan and obviously it’s very well written. It’s very well-researched.”

Landman is Sheridan’s latest project at Paramount+, which includes his flagship Yellowstone (currently filming its final season), spinoffs 1923 and 1883 and, separately, Special Ops: Lioness, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King and Lawmen: Bass Reeves.

The Emmy-winning “Boardwalk Empire” and “The Sopranos” veteran is returning to Sheridan’s “Tulsa King” series after parting ways with production after its first season. Winter served as the original showrunner on the Paramount+ series, but tensions with creator and executive producer Sheridan led to Winter exiting.

Paramount+ was called, by some, the Star Trek channel when it first launched, but it rapidly was changed to the Taylor Sheridan channel, as his various series fuel their original programming slate. Thankfully, they are different and distinct, each with its own genre.

After conquering the modern and historic Western, he gave us the gritty Mayor of Kingstown and Sly Stallone’s Tulsa King. Then, this fall, came Special Ops: Lioness, an international espionage story that was (finally) female-centric.

The premise for the ten-episode show is based on a real CIA program, “Team Lioness,” from a Marine Corps program, “created to grant the Marine Corps closer access to women involved in potential terrorist plots,” according to Collider. Taylor Sheridan’s next drama series Landman has cast Demi Moore in a starring role.

,The Ghost and A Few Good Men actress will be a series regular along with previously announced star Billy Bob Thornton.

Moore will play Cami, “wife to one of the most powerful oil men in Texas and a friend of Tommy Norris (Thornton).”

She joins the growing list of veteran film stars who had major hits in the 1980s and ’90s who have signed on to Sheridan shows (such as Harrison Ford, Kevin Costner, Helen Mirren, Sylvester Stallone and Nicole Kidman). Filming’s currently underway on Taylor Sheridan’s latest drama, Landman, starring Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton (Sling Blade). The new drama, set in West Texas, joins Sheridan’s roster of projects at Paramount+ that includes Mayor of Kingstown, 1883, 1923, Special Ops: Lioness, Tulsa King, and Lawmen: Bass Reeves. Paramount+ announced that Landman has started production and revealed a more detailed description of the show and its cast.

Landman stars Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton. The official description reads: “Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, Landman is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. Updated with new date: The 49th AFI Life Achievement Award honoring Nicole Kidman is now set for April 27, 2024 at the Dolby Theater, with the new date coming after AFI postponed the annual event earlier this summer because of the WGA strike.

Since the original postponement in May, SAG-AFTRA also went out on strike. The writers strike ended September 27 and the actors guild reached a tentative agreement last week.

The AFI Board of Trustees established the AFI Life Achievement Award in 1973.

Previously, May 8: Oscar winner Nicole Kidman will have to wait a little longer to receive her Life Achievement Award tribute from AFI, as the ceremony planned for June 10 has been postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing writers strike.

“For nearly half a century, the AFI Life Achievement Award has convened artists and audiences in celebration of excellence in the art form,” said a spokesperson for the American Film Institute.

The Taylor Sheridan TV universe keeps getting bigger. Lawmen: Bass Reeves is the latest show from the prolific Yellowstone creator. It’s streaming on Paramount+, but CBS is giving those who don’t subscribe to the streaming service a way to check out the series for free.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves is a streaming anthology series starring David Oyelowo as legendary real-life lawman Bass Reeves. Though it was originally billed as a Yellowstone spinoff, it later evolved into a standalone anthology series disconnected from the saga of the Dutton family.

Reeves was born into slavery and later became one of the first Black U.S. Deputy Marshals west of the Mississippi. The show explores his story and how he wrestles with the moral and spiritual cost of his career to him and his family.

The show – which is executive produced by Sheridan – premiered Nov.

Paramount+ leadership has announced the international rollout of Premium and advertising tier subscriptions.

The Premium Plan is set to launch in Australia, Brazil, Canada, and Mexico on November 16. Plan subscribers can use four concurrent streams (compared to two streams with the Standard plan).

The Premium Plan will launch in Australia priced at Au$13.99 monthly and Au$124.99 annually; in Brazil for Brl 34.90 monthly and Brl 309.90 annually; in Canada for CA$13.99 monthly and CA$124.99 Cad annually; and in Mexico for Mxn 179 monthly and Mxn 1,609 annually.

Aiming to grow its global direct-to-consumer distribution, Paramount+ has set the international rollout plans for its premium and ad tier subscriptions following a launch across more than 45 markets last year.

The premium plan will launch in Australia, Brazil, Canada and Mexico on Nov. 16, before bowing in additional markets at a later stage. It will boast Paramount’s blockbusters, exclusive originals and hit shows in 4K Uhd, HDR10, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Premium subscribers will also be able to tap into four concurrent streams, instead of the two streams that come with the standard plan.

The advertising tier, meanwhile, will roll out in select international markets, including Australia and Canada, starting in 2024. In Mexico and Brazil, Paramount+ will keep its mobile-only streaming subscription which launched in April.
