This is the end of the end.
The museum is in need of a new night guard as Larry has got an new job at Tokya Museum and Larry's son Nick is given the job offer to take over as new night guard. Now, Nick is still a boy too scared to fight his self doubt and he his pit against Kahmunrah returning from the last film along with the daddy issues. Plus, they get to travel to ancient Egypt this time and it is upto Nick to find his confidence back on time to bring everybody back to the museum safe.
The film offers nothing new, mainly because I am not the target audience for this animated feature unlike the live-action trilogy. I did chuckle at couple of lines but that was about it. Largely aimed at kids only, I guess it's serves the purpose of giving basic entertainment as it doesn't try anything more. The lines are as pedestrian as a cartoon show might get and the screenplay is extremely convenient.

Same shift. Different movie.
I have not seen the past 3 Night of the Museum movies in a while, but I do remember them being good movies and having some fun with them. Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again (2022) is the 4th movie in this series, and I thought it was just ok.
The animation in the movie is not that bad, and it looks nice. The voice acting is fine, and the characters are the same as the other movies, just with standard personalities that are there to move the average plot along.
The main villain is the same as the earlier movies but not interesting. The movie is kid friendly and keeps things safe without doing something different and interesting like the other 3 movies.
Kids will like Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again (2022) for the animation and the characters in the movie that connect to the other movies. I thought this movie was ok but anything outstanding or worth giving yourself time to see.

I hate to give a great Animated movie like this a low score, but in the end it was the story that forced my hand. So let's give points where points are due. The Animation is GREAT! The acting was wonderful! But the plot was just awful. Look, I get that it's a movie directed at kids and what not, and no, I'm not being too picky, the story just kinda falls apart towards the end of the movie. I felt like the writers got lazy towards the end. It's their laziness that prevents me for giving this movie a much more higher star count. But in the same time I admire them for trying. Seriously, it's not every day you see a great Animated movie, and a 2D animated movie to boot! I reward this movie 5 stars for the spot on Animation but only 1 star for the lazy writing. 5 minus 1= 4 stars, that's my final ruling on this beautiful film; take it or leave it.

Another lazy, dumbed-down cash grab from Disney
What is going on with Disney lately that their sequels to well-liked and respected franchises seem to have no effort put into them?
Willow and National Treasure we're so painful to watch that I couldn't get through the first episodes, and now Night at the Museum has a similar effect, forcing me to turn it off barely ten minutes into the movie.
It doesn't fit into the continuity of the three films, and all the characters are either stupid or mean spirited for some reason.
The way they get Larry's son to be the new night watchman is beyond lazy and uninspired, and essentially makes is hate all of the characters that we know and love.
I think this is the last straw for Disney plus and it's time to unsubscribe.

As Unnecessary as Toy Story 4
Disney owns 20th Century Fox now, and they are intent on making every possible penny they can. Watching the beginning of this I was totally lost. How did the tablet of Akmenrah get back to New York City permanently? It was decided by the characters that it should stay in London at the end of the third one! If you are trying to argue and say that Tilly the London night guard brought it back, that was only temporary. Why are the characters bullies in the movie, Watch the first few minutes and see how they traumatize a random night guard on purpose just because he's not Larry.
When does this film take place? It doesn't take place after the third, because the third one ended with Larry retiring from night guarding and becoming a professor. Also, Nick, his son, was considering college in the previous one, but now, he's presumably back in high school? Also, wasn't Kahmunrah sent to the underworld? Who made another wax mannequin of him? Why isn't Akmenrah in this despite the "legal disputes" of the actor. That shouldn't be an excuse, Owen Wilson isn't playing Jedidiah in this one as well as Ben Stiller in this.
Just call this a reboot, because it literally makes no sense. I got bored after the first 25 minutes. It's a far step down from the third one, which successfully ended the trilogy and was my personal favorite. Way to go Disney, you ruined another franchise.

How to kill a movie franchise in 80 minutes
Why so negative? It's fun, fast-paced and energetic!
There are far worse animated films you can choose. This is not one of them. As the title says it is fun, fast and energetic. No time for slow moments!
Gorgeously animated with great camera shots that enhances the plot.
It is a simple plot but that is what makes it so fun to. Watch! The creators have fun in coming up with various obstacles they can throw at the characters and leaves us with no time to breath between them. And the result is very entertaining for us to behold.
The movie also pays tribute to the previous movies in the franchise and even pokes fun at itself, which again works well for the story. It is a silly story and the ovie knows it..
It left me with a smile, chuckle and a feel good time. It does not invent any wheels but it does not need to either.

If you want a genuine feeling for how soulless this movie feels, go straight from rewatching the amazingly charming live action trilogy straight into this.
Weak...
Nick Daley is following in his father's footsteps as a night watchman at the American Museum of Natural History, so he knows what happens when the sun goes down. But when the maniacal ruler Kahmunrah escapes, it's up to Nick to save the museum once and for all. An animated version of the 'Night at the Museum' franchise.
Think of a boring, silly and unnecessary animation... Here we have a beautiful example and I like boring and silly things, here the focus and protagonist was the 18-year-old Nicolas, but the drawing is not very captivating, the script uninteresting, not bad at all, just for the moment not entertaining...

Horrible, just horrible.
I found out about this movie from my brother. And I started watching this hopeful that this would at lest have some good things with it.
But just as I hoped that it didn't do, it ruined a great franchise.
Why does Disney have to ruin everything?
I have seen some reviews here saying the CGI is good, and yes it can seam amazing at first, until you realize it was made in 2022.
The story seams to have been set after the 3rd movie, but there is a ton of stuff that is just plain wrong, and is just disappointing for them to mess up.
Here are some of them:
I am mad and disappointed at the existence of this horrible movie.

- Wasn't Nick going to College?
- Didn't Larry become a teacher?
- Why is Kahmunrah in New York?

- Why are they bullies to everyone who's not Larry or Nick?

The movie is all right; don't let the negative reviews scare you
This animated movie isn't nearly as bad as many reviews portray it. It's a light-hearted family adventure with decent jokes and an OK plot. The real spotlight is the relationships between the characters.
Kahmunrah Rises Again casts Larry's son Nick as the protagonist, and the kid fits his role like a glove. In this movie, Nick needs to find confidence in himself and try to save the world.
The gang of the museum exhibits is all back, successfully introducing Joan of Arc as the newest member. Seeing the old cast on screen again feels genuinely good. Their characterisation, although cartoonified, still feels pretty close to the source material.
The humour is all right, and I even chuckled a few times. Something about Kahmunrah overdramatically saying "daddy" just hits a note. The movie doesn't take itself too seriously, and Kahmunrah even breaks a fourth wall once.
The best part is how the characters truly feel like a family. From the moment this movie started, I couldn't help but feel like I had returned to my old friends. Seeing how deeply the exhibit gang cares about each other and Nick is a delight.
My verdict: just go and watch it, and see for yourself if it's worth it. I enjoyed the movie and was glad I didn't check the reviews before.

Not as bad as the reviews say!
While it doesn't stack up to the humor and fast paced plot lines in the original films, this is not a bad film. It's a lot of fun to watch and brings a whole new perspective on the museum. Some reviews have suggested that the movie was unnecessary, a fact I don't completely disagree with. Nevertheless, I did enjoy myself.
With the story medium changing it also brings a lot of changes to the story. This is not inherently good or bad, but the change has been done well (with a beautiful style of animation!) and allows for a completely new audience to enjoy the same characters and stories!
I really liked the original films and while this is very different from them, it is still and entertaining and engaging watch that I would recommend to anyone who enjoyed the previous films or had never seen any of them.

This is Toy story 4 equivalent unnecessary
Seriously Disney do you lack so much creativity nowadays first you do pointless and forgettable squeals like Hocus Pocus, Enchanted and your latest movie strange world just sucked.
I love the night of the museum movies all 3 films it had charm and humor and very memorable actors like Robin Williams, ben stiller, Owen Wilson and more all the actors give it there all. Now this latest one which is unnecessary like Toy story 4 we didn't need four movies it ended fine on third movie.
The animation looks awful looks like something you see in point and click game none of original actors did the voices and no one can top the late Robin Williams as Teddy.
The characters are easily forgettable in comparsion live action version and Disney continues to go downhill theres no creativity anymore just painful cash grabs.

A decent enough animated movie
This is only the 2nd time that I've watched this movie and I watched it back when it first on Disney+. So, I decided to give this movie a fresh watch to see if my opinion has changed and it was definitely a lot better on this most recent rewatch, but that's not saying much.
Positives for Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again (2022): It was cool to be back with these characters for another adventure even if it's in an animated movie. The animation looks good for a direct tostreaming movie and while I've seen better animation in other movies, I've also seen worse animation in others. Joshua Bassett is decent as Nick Daley even if I didn't find this character to be all that interesting even in the live-action movies. And finally, there are some good action sequences throughout the movie.
Negatives for Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again (2022): There's really no reason why this movie should exist in the first place. This movie only exists because Disney has the rights to this franchise, so they decided milk out another Night at the Museum movie on their streaming service even if it's pointless. Also, there's no reason for Kahmunrah to be back as the villain. It also doesn't help that Joseph Kamal isn't as good as Hank Azaria in the role of Kahmunrah. And finally, the fact that Dr. McPhee is completely oblivious to what's happening in the museum is absolutely ludicrous.
Overall, this was a decent entry to the Night at the Museum Franchise, but at the end of day this is a movie that was only made to help boost Disney+ for some reason that I'll never understand.

Humorous but Flat
Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again (2022) loses most of the charm from the original films. Though it does not enhance the story. The best part of the film is Zachary Levi. Though the slapstick humor is a close second.
Teddy Roosevelt's character is mischaracterized. Nearly all of the characters are shallow interpretations of the originals. The film is missing the historical and cultural undertones of the characters that were present in the earlier films. The theme of the series, that history comes alive in museum, is lacking throughout the film.
The plot feels generic and the film is unnecessary. It feels closer to one of the cartoons from the 90s that attempt to turn hit films into cartoons for all ages. Odd choice since this project is based off a series of family friendly films.
Absence of Owen Wilson and Robin Williams is felt. The majority of references to other films seem to exist solely to establish connection, the most memorable and unique parts of the franchise were exploited in the early minutes of the film. Emphasis on comedic elements detract from plot and character development aspects.

Do not listen negative comments, it is good
I saw negative comments here but I am sorry, I am very happy to watch this. It is a good animation movie with lots of sweet jokes. I really loved it. OK, maybe story is not super, similar to toy story ecc.. but it is not 1 point. Of course there are some problems but at least happy ending logically in final. Laaa is my favorite character :) I laughed him so much. It is watchable and I don't understand what you expect more? I saw, a comment like no Ben stiller = no this movie. Sorry but this is animation, no need ben stiller (in my opinion) anyway, it is good and watchable, it is fun that's all. If you look for something deep, please skip it.

This film is a not a fourthquel
The day it was announced that Night at the Museum was coming back, I was excited because I'm a big fan of the first three films; but even though I was excited, I did have my concerns.
I'm not a fan of this movie, but I do like the idea that the movie was animated. This was a great way to continue the franchise since there won't be a live action sequel anytime soon. As much I like the 2d animation and some of the background designs, I'm not a fan of some of the characters designs. I can tell the character designer didn't want any of the characters we all know and love, from the original series, to not look anything like they did back in the old films.
One of my biggest complaints about this movie is the writing; the jokes were horrible, too many jokes kept coming from every corner to the point it felt like a Disney channel sitcom with no laugh track(because most of the jokes were bad); Kahmunrah's return could've been better if it had been written better. Instead it only felt like Battle Of The Smithsonian all over again with nothing new.
The writers also made the characters we know from the last three movies annoying. Nicky is a wimp and not confident like in the last movie; in addition the other characters were acting out of character. One of the things the exhibit characters did that was beyond out of character, was when they scared away night guard Ronnie in the beginning of the movie. Sure I bet the writers were trying to get Nicky to become night guard somehow, but it doesn't just make the exhibits look bad, it makes them immature. The exhibits in the original franchise would've gave Ronnie a chance, not threaten him.
This movie had a bunch of continuity eras. For example the events of Secret Of The Tomb(last film) weren't mentioned here as if that movie never happened; Ahkmenrah is not even in this movie, only mentioned once by Theodore Roosevelt but not by name but rather by the fact that he is the younger brother of Kahmunrah. I could tell Theodore Roosevelt or the other characters didn't know him in this movie as if he never existed, not to mention the Tablet of Ahkmenrah is only called "the tablet".
There were some things I did like about this movie. One thing in particular was the music (very similar to the first three movies). Alan Silvestri didn't return to do the music for this film but Joe Paesano did a wonderful job of recapturing the music of this franchise.
None of the original cast from the last three movies didn't reprise their roles in this movie but instead were replaced by Joshua Basset, Zachary Levi, Thomas Lennon(who wrote the first two films) and many others. The new cast members were all fine, I can tell the casting director didn't want most of the cast to voice match Ben Stiller or the late Robin Williams, and the acting was fine in my opinion.
This movie was made more for younger kids and not for the whole family like the original films, which is something that the writers, the producers and even Disney forgot about. That is what made the first three movies special. The fact that everyone could enjoy it no matter how old they were. Unfortunately, it's not like that in this film, most of the jokes were kid friendly that only children would laugh at, and the dialogue felt like a mix of Disney Junior and Nickelodeon, which led me to believe that maybe this movie doesn't care about the original fans.
I do understand that this movie is a canon/reboot and not a fourthquel based on the marketing but as a huge fan of this franchise I can't help but feel disappointed.
In summary, none of the cast from the first three movies were in this movie(and I bet none of them were asked); the writing wasn't the best, and the animation wasn't the best. I feel like the cast, the crew and even Disney only did this movie for a paycheck and not because they love and care about the original films like I do as a fan.
I don't recommend this movie for any fan of the franchise. It feels like it's made for younger audiences rather than for fans of the original films. As much as I do want Night at the Museum to have a future and I believe there's many more stories that can be told in the franchise, I just don't see this movie being the start of it.
I would only watch another animated Night at the Museum movie if they hire better writers, better character designer, and rehire the cast from the first three movies.

Well, watched the thing all the way through (ugh), and one thing seemed to stand out. This was a Scooby-Doo cartoon, without any of the Scooby gang, and no mystery. Well, let me correct myself - there is ONE mystery associated with this: whose asinine idea was this? Never was a fan of Ben Stiller, and while watching the 3 REAL NATM movies, I asked myself a few times, "would this be better with someone else?" Well, just a few minutes into this one, I was wishing he was in it. Someone in another review wondered why none of the original actors returned for this one? Aside from Robin Williams' obvious reason for absence, I suspect either the rest must have seen the script beforehand, or more likely, Disney simply "cheaped out" with the "talent".
It has the makings of being a television show.
No redeeming qualities.
'Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again' is sequelitis in a nutshell. It only holds the bare minimum of similarities to the original trilogy, with no main cast member from those movies returning. Even at just under 90 minutes, it's a mind-numbingly dull watch. The choice of animation is iffy, too.
I will say I could see youngsters enjoying this as a standalone film, to be honest it has the makings of being a television show - which is the avenue they should've gone down instead, could've made it 'What's New, Scooby-Doo?'-esque. The lack of any real connection to the preceding movies then wouldn't actually matter as it'd be a different thing entirely, but given it is a sequel you have to compare it to its predecessors.
I obviously wasn't expecting this to be anything quite as enjoyable as the Ben Stiller pictures, though I did think it would at least resemble the other flicks a little bit. Oh well, no biggie.

I obviously wasn't expecting this to be anything quite as enjoyable as the Ben Stiller pictures, though I did think it would at least resemble the other flicks a little bit. Oh well, no biggie.
Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again
I suppose the idea of picking up from the trilogy after eight years might have made sense on a storyboard somewhere, but this rather lacklustre animation really just reminded me of a feature-length episode of "Scooby Do" - only with a Pharaoh. This time it's son "Nick" who becomes the nightwatchman just in time to thwart the ambitions of "Kahmunrah" to re-emerge from his tomb and take over the world. Yep, it's that predictable - and sadly this animated story offers us really very little by way of originality, basically rehashing the second film from the franchise (2009) but in cartoon form. To be fair, it doesn't hang around and maybe a new audience might appreciate it, but it's completely devoid of menace or comedy and is something you can plonk your kids in front of safe in the knowledge that they could probably watch it again next week and not remember a thing.
