Clad in a sleek, black leather dress, Lipa sang the iconic 1998 track, with Cher soon joining in a matching look. The pair joined hands as the duo sang the beloved chorus: “Do you believe in life after love?/I can feel something inside me say/I really don’t think you’re strong enough, no.”

Charlize Theron has played many iconic characters over the years. From embodying someone like Megyn Kelly in Bombshell to playing the role of a real-life serial killer in Monster, she has showcased her versatility as an actress time and time again. However, no film has managed to get her as much recognition as Mad Max: Fury Road.

Having played the role of Imperator Furiosa, she managed to steal the spotlight in a cast full of respected actors like Tom Hardy, Nicholas Hoult, and Zoë Kravitz. Considering how iconic her performance was, it is difficult to imagine someone else playing the role in the original film, even though Anya Taylor-Joy did take over recently in the prequel.
However, it would seem that Gal Gadot almost got the role, long before she became Wonder Woman.

The James Bond saga has proven to be fruitful over the years, choosing the best of the bests to deliver to fans some of the most iconic arcs of the peerless spy – take Daniel Craig’s era as Bond, for instance. At the same time, the franchise has also turned down major talents that could have seriously launched it to extraordinary heights, including Gal Gadot.

Previously, Henry Cavill dominated the top position on the list of famous hotshots rejected by the Bond lore. But it seems like his Dceu co-star was yet another addition to it, as Gadot auditioned to become a part of the franchise as well. And while she didn’t end up being fished, it earned her quite a bit of experience before her casting as Wonder Woman in the SnyderVerse.

Last year, Gal Gadot insisted that she'll return as Diana Prince despite the fact all signs point to her time as Wonder Woman having ended. James Gunn has cast a new Superman in David Corenswet and is searching for Batman, so there's no reason to believe he'd round out the Dcu's Trinity with the Justice League star.
As noted, Gadot has talked repeatedly about meeting with Gunn and Peter Safran. Promoting Netflix's Heart of Stone, she claimed they assured her she would return as the iconic DC Comics character in a new Wonder Woman movie.
Despite that, the plug was pulled on Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman 3 almost immediately after DC Studios was formed as it didn't fit into the Dcu's new direction.

Although the filming of Netflix’s feature film Peaky Blinders had just started, it has steadily been revealed who will be in the cast of the movie. It was recently announced that Stephen Graham will be making an appearance in the movie after having joined the series at the tail-end of its run in season six as Hayden Stagg. It’s not known what his involvement with the movie entails, but nonetheless, Graham says he is “looking forward to seeing the lads again.”
Deadline has revealed that Sophie Rundle — who played the sister of Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby, Ada, on the series — will be reprising her role on the Netflix movie adaptation. When viewers last saw Ada in the series finale, Tommy had handed the reins of the family business to her. It’s also been announced that some more returning names to the cast are Ned Dennehy, who...

The upcoming “Peaky Blinders” movie has revealed more original series stars who are returning for the crime drama’s next chapter.
Stephen Graham; Sophie Rundle; Ned Dennehy; Packy Lee (“Blue Lights”); and Ian Peck are all set to reprise their roles alongside Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby. Jay Lycurgo has also joined the film in an undisclosed role.
In the final season of the original series, Graham portrays Hayden Stagg, the union leader for the Liverpool dock workers. A third Wonder Woman movie was in development at Warner Bros. right up until James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as co-heads of the relaunched DC Studios, and the decision to scrap the project evidently came as quite a surprise to a number of people involved with the now defunct threequel and the previous WW films.
While speaking to Den of Geek about her return as Lucilla in Ridley Scott's Gladiator 2, Connie Nielsen - who played Queen Hippolyta in both Wonder Woman movies and Justice League - admitted to being baffled by the studio's call.
“I think it’s crazy. I mean, frankly, I don’t understand it,” Nielsen tells the site. “[Wonder Woman] made $800 million just in the movie theaters, and it has an enormous and passionate, passionate fan base. These are spectacular films, and there’s just no reason I can understand whatsoever for not investing in that.

Andrew Garfield is one of the most desirable men in Hollywood whose talents know no bounds and Jamie Dornan knows this all too well. Whether he is swinging through the streets as the amazing Spider-Man or making us absolutely bawl as We Live in Time‘s Tobias, the actor really knows how to make a lasting impression in people’s lives.

However, if the multiverse is real, then there is probably a universe where Andrew Garfield never tried his hand at acting and ended up becoming a fantastic athlete instead. He always had a special talent when it came to sports and while it’s absolutely impressive, Jamie Dornan couldn’t help but get a little annoyed with it all.

Production on the Peaky Blinders film has commenced in the U.K. The feature film version of the BAFTA-winning series is set to become a Netflix film and Deadline has bestowed fans with a couple of first look pictures as filming begins. The first photo is a production still that features a greyed Tommy Shelby standing in a dark alley against a brick wall and another picture is a behind-the-scenes photo that shows Cillian Murphy and Steven Knight reunited on set.

Ted Sarandos, boss of Netflix, has described cinema releases as ‘inefficient’. But doesn’t the streaming giant have a vested interest in the theatrical experience dying out…?
Another speech by Netflix boss Ted Sarandos, and once again, the man manages to get he and his company headlines around the entertainment press. He says things, we fall for it, names get checked, and the wheel keeps turning.
Still, two pieces of news coalesced at the same time yesterday, and they’re worth having a chat about.
On the one hand, Ted Sarandos gave an address in London where he argued that a cinema release is an “inefficient” way to distribute a film that’s cost $200m to make.
To de-clickbait his comments a little, he also admitted that “it’s unique to Netflix that we have enough scale” to put its films out, the kind of scale that means you have...

“Saltburn” star Barry Keoghan is set to appear alongside Cillian Murphy in Netflix’s upcoming “Peaky Blinders” movie.
Details of his role have not yet been unveiled.
Netflix confirmed earlier this summer that Murphy was set to return as fearsome gangster Thomas Shelby in the movie, which is directed by Tom Harper (“Heart of Stone”). Harper previously directed episodes from the first season of “Peaky Blinders.”
Steven Knight created the hit series, which is set in turn of the century Birmingham, back in 2013. Knight has returned to write the movie and will also co-produce alongside Murphy and others.
“I’m genuinely thrilled that this movie is about to happen,” Knight said previously. “It will be an explosive chapter in the ‘Peaky Blinders’ story. No holds barred. Full on ‘Peaky Blinders’ at war.”
Rebecca Ferguson is also reported to be in the film, with production set to start later this year.

Here is another made-for-streaming film that you will forget about almost before you’ve even finished watching. It’s just aggressively fine: not terrible, per se, but also not what you could comfortably label good. If The Union feels formulaic and familiar, that may be because Netflix has in fact made this kind of film — a globe-trotting spy action-comedy about an extrajudicial crime-fighting force — a number of times before: 6 Underground and last year’s Heart Of Stone follow similar templates, to name but two.
It begins in an extremely Mission: Impossible mould: like the original 1996 film of that series, we begin in a European city where a daring espionage mission goes horribly wrong and the good guys get picked off like flies. Led by Halle Berry’s Roxanne and J.K. Simmons’ Tom, these good guys are members of the Union, a secret agency whose exact mission and purpose is fuzzy.

You know, spy movies weren’t always wall-to-wall vacation porn. There was a time when a hero could go undercover and save the world, or at least some microfilm, without trotting all over the globe, trysting in fancy hotels, wrecking pricey cars and drinking top shelf booze. But thanks largely to the blockbuster films of James Bond, tales of subterfuge became synonymous with opulent power fantasies, where the hero is a suave and sophisticated sex god with an unlimited expense account.
Julian Farino’s “The Union” has a different premise. It’s about a secret organization called “The Union,” which, unlike the elitist and bureaucratic FBI and CIA, actually gets all the work done. They don’t recruit Ivy League graduates, they recruit blue collar workers — “Street smarts over book smarts.” In an era where the people running things don’t know how to make anything run, it’s a...

Lee Daniels’ first-ever horror effort, “The Deliverance,” is not to be confused with 1972’s “Deliverance.” Although, much like John Boorman’s three-time Oscar nominee about idiot canoers going through hell in rural Georgia, it does make movie-watching pretty painful.
Not since “Hillbilly Elegy” has Netflix done Glenn Close so dirty. That’s true even taking into account her small part in the hugely horrible “Heart of Stone” for the streamer last year. “The Deliverance” director Daniels, an ambitious storyteller with an admirably spotty track record, is best known for creating the TV show “Empire” with Danny Strong and, before that, helming the Sundance darling “Precious,”.
Back in 2009, Daniels’ talents as a producer on 2001’s “Monster’s Ball” preceded the success of his eventual Best Picture contender, “Precious,” but the bleak family drama about a Black family living in Harlem is what turned him into a celebrated director. His gritty portrait of...

The Mission: Impossible franchise is the pinnacle of action cinema in Hollywood. There’s nobody in the North American film industry who’s doing it like Christopher McQuarrie, Tom Cruise, and everyone that’s ready to put their lives on the line for these two maniacs. That said, there are many who want to copy them without really putting in the effort that’s necessary to create memorable action sequences that feel tangible and realistic as hell. Recently, we got Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, which lifted scenes from the M:i franchise via the cheapest-looking visual effects available to mankind. Prime Video products such as Jack Ryan, Role Play, and Citadel have tried to do the same and failed every time. Netflix has been throwing millions of dollars at anyone and everyone so that they can have their very own spy franchise. As a result, we have some of the...

The sequel to 2017’s Wonder Woman saw Gal Gadot reprise her titular role but the film failed to break even as it was released amidst the pandemic and received negative responses.
While Gadot had previously been appreciated for her performance as the superhero, one scene from the film seems to be making rounds on the Internet for all the wrong reasons. Director Bennett Miller is working on his first feature film since 2014’s Foxcatcher and it’ll focus on AI.
AI is a popular theme in today’s films. In fact, we’ve just written about the worrying undercurrent of it in Netflix’s Heart Of Stone. Other recent films such as Ex Machina, The Creator and M3GAN have also ruminated on the possibilities of AI on the big screen.
Another director to tackle the subject is Bennett Miller, the director of Capote, Moneyball and Foxcatcher. In fact, Miller hasn’t made a film since his 2014 Oscar-nominated Foxcatcher, which transformed Steve Carrell into troubled millionaire and wrestling enthusiast John E du Pont.
Miller recently told Config24 (via World Of Reel) that he’s developing a new film about AI, something that featured strongly at his art exhibition at Gagosian.
“Well, my next film … I don’t know how much I should say … A.

Nb: The following contains mild spoilers for 2023’s Heart Of Stone.
For reasons best known to Skydance, the multi-million dollar production company released two remarkably similar films in the summer of 2023. You’re probably familiar with the first, released last July – action thriller sequel Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, the latest high-wire spectacle for Tom Cruise.
Roughly a month later, though, along came another thriller: Heart Of Stone, an action vehicle for Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot. Despite costing Skydance and its other backers, Pilot Wave and Mockingbird Pictures, somewhere in the region of $150m to make, you may not have heard much chatter about Heart Of Stone – possibly because it appeared on Netflix with a surprising lack of fanfare.

The BBC crime drama series Peaky Blinders ran for six seasons and a total of 36 episodes, beginning in 2013 and wrapping up in 2022. In that time, the show told a story that started in 1919 and wrapped up in the mid-1930s. Earlier this year, it was announced that the BBC is teaming up with the Netflix streaming service to bring us a Peaky Blinders movie that will pick up a few years after the end of the series and see Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) reprising the iconic role of Tommy Shelby, leader of the eponymous Birmingham gangster family. Now Deadline reports that Murphy is being joined in the cast by Rebecca Ferguson of the Dune and Mission: Impossible franchises… but details on the character Ferguson will be playing are being kept under wraps.

Ever since her career began back in the late 2000s, Gal Gadot has bagged a multiplicity of stellar roles that have gone down her resume as some of the most iconic ones of all time. At the same time, she has also lost out on multiple roles, including one that could have established her as a major lead character in one of the greatest spy franchises of all time.

As she shared herself, Gadot was originally wanted by a casting director who was looking for actresses who could play a Bond girl. However, instead of just accepting the offer and gladly auditioning for it, the now-39-year-old actress had the most bizarre response to the casting director which, as can be derived, eventually led to her losing out on the James Bond franchise.

When David Ellison first came to Hollywood, many dealmakers and insiders both balked and salivated. Here was the son of Larry Ellison, founder of the tech behemoth Oracle, trying to play in the big leagues after dropping out of USC Film School. Being the child of the 3rd wealthiest person in America (now 4th) may have made him not just any other rich kid, but to many, he was still just another nepo baby with cash to burn. And at first, that’s exactly what he did. Financing and co-starring in the 2006 WWI drama “Flyboys,” Ellison’s first dip into the entertainment waters was a critical and box-office failure, only earning $17.8 million against its $60 million budget.
But Ellison didn’t pack his bags just yet. In Hollywood, timing is everything and when he saw investment banks pull capital out of media and entertainment during the financial crisis of the late 2000s,...

India’s Yash Raj Films (Yrf) has unveiled the title for its first female-fronted instalment in the studio’s successful spy universe franchise.
Titled “Alpha,” the film stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari as super agents. “This is a clear take by Yrf to highlight a societal misinterpretation that only men can be Alphas,” said a source close to Yrf.
“Alpha” is helmed by Shiv Rawail who debuted as a director with the studio’s hit 2023 Netflix series “The Railway Men.”
The title marks a significant shift for the action-packed series, which has previously centered on male protagonists, albeit with strong female characters. Created by producer and Yrf chair and MD Aditya Chopra, the spy universe kicked off with the Tiger franchise, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, beginning with “Ek Tha Tiger” (2012) and “Tiger Zinda Hai” (2017), and continued with “War” (2019), starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. “Pathaan,” starring Shah Rukh Khan,...

Despite Gal Gadot's insistence that she'll return as Diana Prince, all signs point to her time as Wonder Woman having ended. James Gunn has already cast a new Superman and is searching for Batman, so there's no reason to believe he'd round out the Dcu's Trinity with the Justice League star.
As noted, Gadot has talked repeatedly about meeting with Gunn and Peter Safran. Promoting Netflix's Heart of Stone, she claimed they assured her she would return as the iconic DC Comics character in a new Wonder Woman movie.
Despite that, the plug had been pulled on Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman 3 almost immediately after DC Studios was formed as it didn't fit into the Dcu's new direction.

At the center of it all is the daring, epic raid on a bank vault deep beneath the streets of Zurich.” The series will take place across three timelines — the 12 months prior to the heist, the 12 hours of the heist, and the 12 days after.
The series is created by Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble, who will also executive produce. Kari Skogland will direct the pilot and executive produce.

Despite mostly positive initial reactions, Patty Jenkins Wonder Woman 1984 was widely panned by critics and fans alike when it was released, but the movie does still have its share of loyal supporters - and can count one of its stars among them.
After being killed off at the end of the first movie, Chris Pine's Steve Trevor returned under somewhat bizarre circumstances in the sequel for a reunion with Gal Gadot's Amazonian hero. In the end, Diana was forced to "wish" Trevor back out of existence in order to defeat Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal), and the couple shared an emotional farewell.
While chatting about his most iconic roles with Entertainment Weekly, Pine defended WW84, and said he believed the movie was given such a hard time because it focused more on "forgiveness and compassion" than the usual superhero fare.
"I just thought, how powerful that there's a superhero...

Exclusive: After successfully launching the Extraction film franchise at Netflix, director Sam Hargrave has his eyes set on another potential franchise with a piece of IP that is revving its engines to get out the gate. Sources tell Deadline that Skydance and Mattel Films have closed a deal with Hargrave to direct a live-action movie based on Matchbox, Mattel’s iconic real-world die-cast toy vehicle line. David Coggeshall and Jonathan Tropper are penning the script.
Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger will produce alongside Robbie Brenner for Mattel Films. The project will be shepherded by Aimee Rivera for Skydance and Elizabeth Bassin and Andrew Scannell for Mattel Films.
The iconic Matchbox brand was invented in 1953 by automotive enthusiast Jack Odell to solve a challenge for his daughter, who was allowed to take a toy to school only if it was small enough to fit in a matchbox.

A third Wonder Woman movie was in development at Warner Bros. right up until James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as co-heads of the relaunched DC Studios, and the decision to scrap the project came as a surprise to a lead actor from the previous films.
While promoting his new movie, Poolman, during an interview with Business Insider, Chris Pine (Steve Trevor) said he was "shocked" that the studio would pull the plug on a franchise that took in almost $1 billion at the worldwide box office.
"I’m stunned that they said no to a billion-dollar franchise and decided to pivot elsewhere. I don’t know what the reasoning was behind that; it’s above my pay grade, but Wonder Woman is an incredible character; Patty is such a thoughtful director.”
Pine wasn't going to reprise his role after being killed off (again) in Wonder Woman 1984. “It would be...
