He later regretted this, of course, and if the director of Citizen Kane wasn’t enough of a genius to go for points, then certainly the iconic, and yet strangely underappreciated, actor Donald Sutherland wasn’t immune to bad monetary decisions either.

Sutherland, who passed away yesterday at age 88 after a long illness, had an incredible career littered with enduring classics like M*A*S*H, Klute, and Best Picture winner Ordinary People to his resume.

Mortal Kombat 1 may have issues, but its ability to bring together strong individuals from various franchises makes it stand out in the fighting genre. After Prime Video shared the trailer for the fourth season of The Boys, Mortal Kombat 1 got on the hype train and unleashed its first look at the unhinged supervillain from the show joining the game.

Both Omni-Man and Homelander are satirical versions of the superheroes we have grown up watching. While their people love and hail them as their saviors, the reality is different. Perhaps this completely different iteration of supes is what makes these two so popular amongst viewers. And now, fans will soon get to see Omni-Man and Homelander fight each other in the video game Mortal Kombat 1.

Back in 2023, fans were greeted with the news that Homelander would be getting added to the video game in the ‘Kombat Pack’ and the day is not too far anymore. The first teaser showing Homelander’s gameplay has been released, and it looks like Omni-Man and others may have to take a step back as the Superman dupe is ready to scorch through anything and anyone.

Mortal Kombat is one of the most popular fighting games out there, and the latest title, Mortal Kombat 1, has received mostly positive reviews from fans and critics. There are several fighters that players love in the games, and a few others have also joined from other franchises as guest fighters.

Dubai-based distribution and production outfit Oceana Studios has picked up worldwide sales rights to thriller “Tonic,” starring Billy Blair (“Doc Holliday”) and Ed Westwick (“Gossip Girl”).

Written and directed by Derek Presley (“Boon”) and produced by U.S. production company Muscular Puppy, the film follows Sebastian Poe (Blair), a washed-up piano player performing across seedy jazz bars who ends up making a murderous deal with corrupt local police officer Terry Rush (Jason Coviello) to repay a drug debt. Over the course of one night, Sebastian is plunged into the dark streets of Dallas’ Deep Ellum district where he comes across an odd assortment of characters. Westwick plays Stanley Roberson, a ruthless and shady figure whom Sebastian is tasked with assassinating. The film also stars Lori Petty (“You’re All Gonna Die”) as Sebastian’s sister Elise Poe.

The film was shot earlier this year in Deep Ellum, a historical district of Dallas.

After an early shootout leaves him wounded, he is tended to by Catherine (Christiane Seidel).

The killer soon becomes drawn into the local preacher’s issues, as the struggling widow and her son live in fear of criminal kingpin Mr. Fitzgerald (Tommy Flanagan). After an encounter with the kingpin’s predatory henchman, Boon becomes determined to protect the family by doing what he does best: killing.

On Monday, Netflix debuted a first look at the upcoming horror anthology series “Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities”, bringing together some of the best minds in the genre.

The series is premiering as a four-day event, with double features dropping each night, all hosted by the Oscar-winning “Pan’s Labyrinth” director.

Each episode is helmed by a different acclaimed horror director, including “The Babadook” director Jennifer Kent, “Splice” director Vincenzo Natali and more.

ABC’s Kay Oyegun drama pilot has found its five therapists. Sendhil Ramamurthy (Never Have I Ever), Johnny Simmons (Girlboss), Rachel Hilson (Winning Time), Demetrius Grosse (Fear the Walking Dead) and Rahnuma Panthaky (NCIS: Los Angeles ) are set as leads opposite previously announced Marsha Stephanie Blake.

The untitled hourlong project comes from 20th Television and is written and exec produced by This Is Us writer-producer Oyegun.

ABC’s untitled drama pilot from “This Is Us” and “Queen Sugar” writer Kay Oyegun has cast Sendhil Ramamurthy, Johnny Simmons, Rachel Hilson, Demitrius Grosse and Rahnuma Panthaky.

Ramamurthy will play Amit, a big-hearted and well-respected relationship therapist. Amit and his wife Sonali are known for their very successful Dara Method for helping rescue marriages. Amit can read his wife just by sitting next to her and believes that they are perfectly in sync with each other both in and out of the office.

Exclusive: Demetrius Grosse (Cabinet of Curiosities) has signed on for a role in George Tillman Jr.’s untitled George Foreman biopic for Sony Pictures and Affirm Films.

He joins a cast that also includes Khris Davis, Sullivan Jones, Forest Whitaker, Jasmine Mathews, Sonja Sohn, John Magaro, Shein Mompremier, Lawrence Gilliard Jr., Sam Trammell, Erica Tazel, Matthew Glave and Al Sapienza, as previously announced.

The film will follow the remarkable life and times of Foreman (Davis), from Olympic Gold medalist to World Heavyweight champion, the Rumble in the Jungle fight with Muhammad Ali in Zaire, to finding his faith, retiring, and becoming a preacher. When financial hardship hits his family and church, he steps back in the ring and regains the championship at age 45, becoming the oldest heavyweight champion in boxing history.

‘Boon’ is a sequel to 2021 thriller ‘Red Stone’

Los Angeles-based Sublimity Entertainment has boarded international rights for EFM to Boon a stand-alone sequel to the 2021 thriller Red Stone, starrinig Neal McDonough.

McDonough reprises his role as Nick Boon, the mercenary trying to atone for his life as an enforcer for a merciless syndicate.

Rounding out the key cast are Tommy Flanagan, Christiane Seidel, Jason Scott Lee, Demetrius Grosse, Christina Ochoa, Gabrielle Carteris, Jake Melrose, McDonough’s Band Of Brothers co-star James Madio and singer-songwriter Pat Monahan.
