Jesse Eisenberg was stuck. Then he saw four words.
The actor, writer, and director had been trying to adapt “Mongolia,” a 2017 short story he’d written for Tablet Magazine, into a movie, and was, by his own admission, hitting a brick wall. A tale of two college friends — one of whom is grounded, the other an impulsive, boho thrill-seeker — who travel to East Asia in search of “the experience of a lifetime” and end up on in a yurt on an ecotourism center, this concise character study had seemed like...

Joan Vassos isn’t waiting for a Golden Bachelor in Paradise.
Another senior spinoff featuring seniors in paradise is inevitable.
But let’s hope there are some single seniors left after Joan is done.
After watching the men bond on The Golden Bachelorette, there have already been calls to see many of them again.
Some of them would be great for a Bachelor in Paradise style show, where the senior men and women can mingle and make their own connections.
Others would be great for different types of spinoffs, like the Odd Couple-esque show that some have called for starring Pascal Ibgui and Charles Ling.
And based on his behavior, we’re betting Pascal would be down for another show to keep him in the limelight.
The Golden Bachelorette star is playing matchmaker
But Joan isn’t letting nature — or production — take its course.

Though South Park’s post-covid specials may have painted future Stan Marsh as both a higher-up in the U.S. Space Force and an online whiskey consultant with an analog Alexa, as of 2024, Colorado’s own could finally take on another job: Lending his acting chops to Motivation Corp.
In Season Six’s “My Future Self ‘n’ Me,” Stan comes face-to-face with a man claiming to be his 32-year-old self, a smoker and drinker who spent time in juvie. After a miniature existential crisis and a montage of Odd Couple proportions, Stan discovers his new roommate isn’t his future self but rather an actor his parents hired from “Motivation Corp.,” which commissions performers to play older versions of kids to scare them away from drugs and alcohol.
This iteration of future Stan is all but a distant memory, Motivation Corp. fading into South Park obscurity after its one and...

Monday’s Emmys ceremony paid tribute to late Friends star Matthew Perry — but in a night filled with nostalgic reunions, his Friends castmates were nowhere to be found.
The producers did reach out to Perry’s Friends co-stars to participate, but “it’s still very fresh for them,” executive producer Jeannae Rouzan-Clay tells The Hollywood Reporter. “We had talked about it early on,” executive producer Jesse Collins adds, “but I can imagine, from their side, they’re mourning someone who was still very close to them. I can’t speak for them, but we all have to respect that they were their own family.

As Kenneth Branagh brings his third Hercule Poirot film to theaters with “A Haunting in Venice,” fans of the Agatha Christie character might debate: Who is the best actor to ever play the mustachioed Belgian detective? And which versions simply didn’t work?
We’ve compiled a list of the most notable actors to portray the famously fussy sleuth —from Tony Randall to PBS favorite David Suchet — and ranked them with both how true they are to Christie’s vision and how enjoyable their portrayal is to audience.
MGM
7. Tony Randall (1965)
The “Odd Couple” actor’s one outing as the detective in the Frank Tashlin-directed film “The Alphabet Murders” leans very hard into comedy. The result: Despite the mustache and bald cap and an occasionally passable accent, we get very little of “the little grey cells” character we expect and far more sight gigs and slapstick.
