The Cell will enter the mind of a killer on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on January 21, 2025 via Arrow Video. The 2000 psychological sci-fi horror film will be celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Tarsem Singh directs from a script by Mark Protosevich. Jennifer Lopez, Vince Vaughn, and Vincent D’Onofrio star with Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Jake Weber, and Dylan Baker.

The theatrical and director’s cuts have been newly restored in 4K, approved by Singh, with Dolby Vision. An alternate version of the theatrical cut created by director of photography Paul Laufer is also included.

Exclusive: Filming has wrapped on Dragn, an under-the-radar horror-sci-fi film, starring James Paxton (Twisters), Carlos Bardem (Assassin’s Creed), Lilly Krug (Plane) and Alice Pagani (Loro).

Peter Webber (The Girl With The Pearl Earing) is directing the movie, which Myriad Pictures will be launching world sales on at next month’s American Film Market in Las Vegas.

At the heart of every cinematic re-adaptation is a question: Why? Gary Dauberman's Salem's Lot answers with a shrug, defined by disappointingly shallow storytelling and downgraded special effects. Tobe Hooper's 1979 miniseries isn't bulletproof, but neither is it as generic as Dauberman's take on Stephen King's northeastern vampire tale. The banner, led by CEO Steve Mosko, has cut eight staffers in business affairs, administration, as well as film and TV roles over the course of the past couple of weeks, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The pink slips arrive as the company is exploring strategic options, including taking on more investors.

On the deals front, Village Roadshow has been relatively quiet this year. The company, which has produced more than 90 features with Warner Bros. over the past several decades including Mad Max: Fury Road, Joker and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, has been locked in arbitration with the studio since it filed a lawsuit in February 2022.

Apple has renewed Colin Farrell-led drama series Sugar for a second season.

The first season of the detective drama saw Farrell’s Sugar, a private investigator hired by Hollywood titan Jonathan Siegel, played by James Cromwell, investigate the mysterious disappearance of his granddaughter, Olivia, played by Sydney Chandler.

[Spoiler Alert] The twist? He’s an alien (one of his skills is processing alcohol 50 times faster than humans).

Amy Ryan, Anna Gunn, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry, Sydney Chandler, Alex Hernandez and Kirby, formerly known as Kirby Howell-Baptiste, also starred in Season 1.

Season 2 will see Sugar find himself back in Los Angeles taking on another missing person’s case, as he continues to look for answers surrounding his missing sister.

Creed’s Michael B Jordan will direct and star in a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, and here are the details.

Since his star making performance in Ryan Coogler’s 2013 drama Fruitvale Station, Michael B. Jordan has taken on an eclectic range of films. He’s gone from starring opposite Chadwick Boseman in Marvel’s Black Panther to headlining Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky sequel Creed trilogy, making his directorial debut with 2023’s Creed 3. A fourth Creed film is reportedly in development.

According to Deadline, Jordan has closed a deal with Amazon MGM Studios and Outlier Society to direct and star in a remake of classic thriller The Thomas Crown Affair – this would be the third take on the material, with the first emerging in 1968.

Drew Pearce has written the remake’s script, rewriting a previous draft by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson, which is based on the original film.

Michael B. Jordan has selected his sophomore directorial effort, opting to helm a reimagining of “The Thomas Crown Affair.” Jordan had already been reported to be starring in the Amazon MGM Studios production back in 2016.

“Thomas Crown Affair” will get a worldwide theatrical release. Jordan is producing via his Outlier Society banner alongside Elizabeth Raposo. Plot details are under wraps, but Jordan will direct from a script by Drew Pearce. A previous draft was written by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson, which was based on the original 1968 film starring Steve McQueen.

Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff will also serve as producers on “Thomas Crown Affair.” Alan Trustman, writer of the 1968 film, is an executive producer. This new movie is the third version of the classic romantic heist story, after the 1999 remake starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo.

Even more exciting, the studio has tapped acclaimed director Steven Caple Jr. (“Creed II”) to helm the project, reuniting him with Michael B. Jordan, who sources say is currently in negotiations to join Smith in the lead cast.

Based on the seminal 1954 novel by Richard Matheson, the first film told Neville’s solitary struggle to find a cure in a New York City overrun by mysterious mutant creatures after a deadly virus wiped out most of humanity. While the 2007 adaptation took some liberties with the source material, it was a massive box office hit, grossing over $585 million worldwide and cementing Smith as an action star.

Roughly a decade after the release of the final Bioshock game, it appears like the franchise is all set to expand in a different medium – a film. Initially announced in 2022 by Netflix, the film was claimed to be the first movie in a potential cinematic universe.

After a long period of silence, fans finally got an update about the movie from producer Roy Lee. As per Lee, the film is still happening, however, the budget has been significantly reduced. While some will see this as a setback, it could be a blessing in disguise.

We recently found out that Transformers: Rise of the Beasts director Steven Caple Jr. is in line to helm the I Am Legend sequel which will star Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan.

Jordan has a history with Caple Jr. after the filmmaker stepped in to direct Creed II when Ryan Coogler decided not to return for the sequel. Rise of the Beasts did slightly underperform last year but received better reviews than its predecessors and earned a solid $439 million worldwide.

Of course, many of us anticipated him directing Paramount's long-awaited Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover starring Chris Hemsworth (particularly based on comments he'd made while promoting Rise of the Beasts), so why didn't it work out?

They’ve been talking about a second “I Am Legend” movie for what feels like forever. But it looks like things might finally be moving forward on the sequel to the hit 2007 post-apocalyptic thriller.

Word on the street is that Warner Bros. has their eye on Steven Caple Jr. to direct. You may remember him from “Creed II” or last year’s “Transformers” flick. Seems like the studio really liked how he balances intense action with characters you care about. Pretty important for a movie like this.

Of course, they’ll need more than just a director – and it looks like they’re putting together an awesome cast too. Will Smith has signed on to return as Dr. Robert Neville, the last man on earth. And he’ll be joined by Michael B. Jordan, who starred in Caple Jr.’s “Creed” movies.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has expressed an interest in snagging Steven Caple Jr. (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) to direct I Am Legend 2, which will star Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan. The outlet notes that it’s still in the early stages, and no deal has been drafted, but it would make for a fun reunion as Caple Jr. directed Jordan in Creed II.

Akiva Goldsman, who is writing and producing I Am Legend 2, recently said, “There will be some good news shortly” about the sequel. He wrote a second draft for the project after meeting with Smith and Jordan, and while he didn’t spill any story details, he did say, “The world returns in a way that is kind of spectacular — an exciting playground for all of us — not your father’s I Am Legend.“

Exclusive: I Am Legend screenwriter and producer Akiva Goldsman teased yesterday there would be big news soon relating to the Warner Bros sequel with Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan, and what we hear is that the studio is taking an interest in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts filmmaker Steven Caple Jr. to direct.

Note it’s very early, and there haven’t been any deal papers drafted yet. Warners has met with a handful of directors, but the hope here is a reteam between Jordan and his Creed II director Caple Jr. I Am Legend 2, which we first told you about, would rep the first time that Smith and Jordan have starred together on-screen.

A couple of years ago, it was announced that Warner Bros. and producer Akiva Goldsman‘s company Weed Road are working on a sequel to the 2007 Richard Matheson adaptation I Am Legend (watch it Here), which will see Will Smith reprising the role of Dr. Robert Neville, now joined in the cast by an unspecified character played by Michael B. Jordan. We haven’t heard much about I Am Legend 2 as time has gone by – but Goldsman, who is producing and writing the project, says there will be “good news” to share about it soon.

Will Smith is a powerhouse when it comes to minting out one successful movie after another. One such movie of his was 2007’s I Am Legend, in which Smith portrayed the role of Robert Neville. The last survivor of a virus that wiped out the entire city of New York, and towards the end of the movie, Neville sacrifices his life to save humanity.

The movie was a box office hit, and in 2022, reports confirmed a sequel titled I Am Legend 2 was being developed by Warner Bros. Now, producer and writer Akiva Goldsman has made a bombshell reveal on how Will Smith’s character will make a comeback in the sequel.

It was originally announced a couple years back that Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, Constantine) was on board to direct a feature film adaptation of the video game BioShock for Netflix, and a new update from producer Roy Lee this week suggests that’s still the case.

Lee explained at Comic-Con last night, however, that the scope of the project has changed.

“The new regime [at Netflix] has lowered the budgets,” Lee explains.

He adds, “So we’re doing a much smaller version… It’s going to be a more personal point of view, as opposed to a grander, more epic project.”

Yesterday, we learned that production has begun on an adaptation of the Stephen King novel The Long Walk (which was, like The Running Man and Thinner, published under the pen name Richard Bachman), with director Francis Lawrence, whose previous credits include Constantine, I Am Legend, Water for Elephants, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Parts 1 and 2, Red Sparrow, Slumberland, and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, at the helm. Now Deadline has broken the news that the cast of the film includes Star Wars legend Mark Hamill, who just recently finished working on another King adaptation called The Life of Chuck, and Judy Greer of the Halloween and Ant-Man franchises. Details on the characters they’ll be playing have not been revealed. Having read the source material, The Major and the mom of the lead character are the first possibilities that come to my mind.

In 2012, Quentin Tarantino released another film. With his solid reputation in the industry, people were excited about his new project, especially curious about who would be leading the story.

When the big-budget sci-fi/boxing flick hybrid "Real Steel" brawled its way into theaters on October 7, 2011, it was ridiculed by some as "Rock'em Sock'em Robots: The Motion Picture." On one hand, the $110 million-budgeted film's blockbuster pedigree of star Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy did little to suggest the film was anything more than this. The main character, Samira, is in New York City and carting around her pet cat, Frodo, when suddenly Earth is attacked by alien monsters. Frodo is very much one of the stars of the show, but Nyong'o begged director Michael Sarnoski to change Sam's pet to be any other animal.

More than a million and a half people live on the island of Manhattan. “A Quiet Place: Day One” focuses on two: Samira (Lupita Nyong’o), a Stage 4 cancer patient, and Eric (“Stranger Things” actor Joseph Quinn), a far-from-home stranger she stumbles upon after the noise-sensitive aliens crash-land in New York. Neither one seems to have much in the way of survival instinct, which makes them an odd couple on whom to concentrate the Big Apple-set prequel to 2018’s hit creature feature — which is probably why writer-director Michael Sarnoski (“Pig”) decided to give Samira a cat named Frodo. People are expendable, but no one wants to see a service animal torn to shreds by aliens.
