I've watched every single season of big brother & have looked forward to it every summer. But the past couple years it seems like it's nothing but a big popularity contest with the strong, good-looking contestants taking control of the house and persuading/brain washing everyone in the house to play their game. I feel like there HAS to be something BB producers can do to change this or sway things to not turn out like this every year. Like what about pairing a "popular" person with a an underdog so they have to compete together? I just don't feel like it's ever going to change with the contestants they choose to be on the show. This may be my last year watching :( btw - this is coming from someone who has always been in the "popular" crowd but still has genuine empathy for people.

A long-standing series, from the onset of when reality TV was in its heyday, "Big Brother" is a glorified highlight reel, with a few talking heads, explaining what's going on. The key interest point, like most reality shows, is the housemates themselves. With several differing personalities, it's easy for a viewer to pick a favorite. The attractive blond, the scheming backstabber, the the inseparable buddies, and more. As its 25th season continues, it's routinely more of the same. In the newer seasons, there are ways to watch the houseguests when the show isn't on, but frankly, it's a yawn-fest. They're sitting. They're talking. They're sleeping. They're... eating. Then you have the feed cut out at random times, or for a long period of time. When you see the contestants in the competitions and games in real time, they will be sitting or standing for an extended period of time. They look bored. They make little silly comments. Then it's whipped up into a highlight reel for the next episode. The long and short is, you can get into some of the houseguests, and root for them to win, and it's moderately entertaining, the people are the interesting part, but as a whole, the show is relatively banal.
In 2 words, it's Julie Chen that's the problem with the show. She conducts herself like she's giving a very very serious interview. Zero personality, zero flare. If you watch the UK BB, it's an absolute spectacle. Watching her during the live shows is like watching stuck-up paint dry. Show is not bad--the people inside the house make up for her--barely. Get back to season 1 production and you might have a hit again.

Big Brother is one of my favorite shows.
But last year & this year all we hear is we want a all Black team to Win and now it's a Black Women why does it have to be that way?
These contestants not to thrilled with kinda mean, I would say they are the worse ones yet We are all the same we all have Red Blood so let's just not use color in the show or Bulling please.
Go back and look at the other years see how interesting they were.
Would love for the show to be fun and interesting again so maybe switch it up and find people that are not worried about race just being interesting
Let's get Big Brother back to normal all have a chance and all play.

Big Brother is a mixture of Survivor and the Real World. Its about how a group of people called "Housemates" live in a "house" and are isolated from any sorts of technology for the summer to compete against each other to win the HOH(head of household) and the power of veto thru numerous of competitions. The house guest who wins HOH will have the right to nominate two houesguests to be evicted out from the house. With the power of veto, the holder of it could choose to use it on one of the evictees to save them from possible eviction. The same process occurs every week until one is left standing and 500,000 dollars richer. I started watching Big Brother around 3 years ago, and I have seen many improvements and twists added to the show. Like last year, when 12-14 house guests were playing secretly with their friend/boyfriend/girlfriend/best friend etc. Last years edition I consider one of the best, because of the "Cat with 9 lives" James who had won the power of veto a recorded 4 times. Also Kaysar and Jannele were terrific players, because Kaysar was a fan favorite and the "brains" of Big Brother 6. As Jannele was a combination of Kaysar and James. Another memorable Big Brother moment was Nakomis's 6 finger plan, also known as backdooring, where she finally got Jase evicted from the house. This show is really great to watch because its fun to watch how people will do anything for 500,000 dollars, which include lieing, backstabbing, back dooring, and the list goes on. If you want to watch Big Brother 7 All Stars tune in on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 8 o clock on CBS on the West Coast. In conclusion Big Brother is an excellent show and I hope I will be a future contestant.

Opening to season 25. Excitement and entertaining. NOT. There were more commercials than excitement. When the cast were all in the studio they smiled when the camera was scanning by. Other than that they were boring. Julie asked if they were excited and there was hardly a peep. There was no excitement, chemistry or any WOW factor. The opening scene with the 3 intruders was stupid. With all the hype with the commercials and last weeks preview I expected more. So much for creating an exciting 25th anniversary. I hope it gets better or this is the last season (if I co tie to watch) for me. YAWN. YAWN. YAWN.

Nothing is really new anymore. Look at Big Brother Canada, they make an effort and constantly change it up every season.
Seems like BBUS has the same comps year after year just with different themes.
Oh and the twists... Den of temptation very simillar to the BB App Store.... Just one of the many examples.

He was stupid. He went after Paul from day one. In fact he was "rude" from day 1. He thought he would be "King". The problem is that he isn't very nice. You can tell the idiot is from the Military. Military people think they are in charge when they are in a room full of civilians. They always have plans and always get mad when you question them and "Their plans". Then they get very mad when their plans fail and then blame other for their short comings.
Cody was IS THE WORSE PLAYER I have seen in years. He came in with a chip on his shoulder. He is not a "People Person". This is a game where you have to be nice, social and then sneaky! He was just a sneak.
If he makes it back into the house he won't last long. He is self destructive. I bet if hasn't in the past he will in the future have an addiction problem.

After reading some of the reviews here it seems like people either love or hate this show. I personally love it. If you love strategy games this is the show for you.
I didn't intend on leaving a review however after seeing so many negative reviews saying the houseguest never have intelligent conversation, it's scripted and anyone who watches is a moron, I felt the need to write this. If you watch the live feeds you would see they do have plenty of conversations that aren't game related that don't make the edited show because that's not the premise of the show. If you don't enjoy this competition based reality tv show where the contestants must be strategic, social and competitive to win 500k maybe you should watch another reality show that isn't also a competition.
As far as the show being scripted, anyone with common sense knows that every reality show is scripted to an extent. With this show you can watch live feeds where the houseguests are unfiltered 24/7. In my opinion it's probably the least scripted reality show on the air. Yes, some of the Dr's you see on the show are obviously fed lines but everything on the live feeds is not scripted.
I understand this show isn't for everyone but I don't understand the comments in some of the reviews that are so hateful towards fans of the show.

BORING and there is always at least 1 person that behaves like an idiot but this season has more than any other season. Won't name the ones already kicked out but THE WORST ars Derek F and WTF Kyland. Derek's father would be so embarrassed by this total jerks behaviour and there is something really REALLY wrong with Kyland. Total disappointment and I'm so sick of Julie.
If you want a reality show to watch during the summer, Big Brother has what your looking for.
What do you get when you put 14 strangers/ex-lovers/secret pairs in a house without deserted islands, the races across country, and the rose ceremonies? You get people who are willing to back-stab, cheat, deceive, and all out scream at each other because they have nothing better to do. watch the reality show that has what your looking for.
This show has the best drama without the extravagant b. s. of Survivor and the like. Tune in and you'll be surprised how fast you fall in love with characters and become part of the game yourself.
P.S. Will Kirby rules!!!

Big Brother is a show set up where you are isolated in a mansion and each week you have to compete for the prized HOH position. When you are HOH you choose 2 of the house guests to be nominated to be evicted from the house. But then there is the veto competition where 6 of the house guests, the HOH, two nominees, and two randomly drawn players (it used to be the Hoh and noms got to pick 1 person each to play but not anymore). Whoever wins veto can take someone off the block (and they can't be nominated)or leave the noms as is. Then on eviction night everyone except the HOH and 2 noms vote on who is evicted. When there are 9 players left everyone voted off after gets sent to sequester until the final two when they vote for who gets the $500,000 dollar prize.
Okay now Big brother will not win an Emmy anytime soon but it is very entertaining to watch how everything unfolds and I happen to think that sometimes the game is more strategic than Surivor. You must be physical and mental to win the game. And oh yeah, being liked never hurts.
There are always players that win a lot (Janelle, season 6 & All Stars), manipulative players (the evil Dr. Will, season 2 and All Stars), the sidekick (Mike 'Boogie' Season 2 & All stars, Howie, Season 6 & All Stars), the person that needs a good push off their pedestal, I probably spelt that wrong, (Eric 'Cappy' Season 6, Scott Season 5). These players always bring fun to the game and antoher fun bit. If you don't win the food competition you must eat only PB&J (seasons 1-6) or slop (all stars). Slop has been called 'The devil's oatmeal', there is a new food competition each week. If you lose you are on slop, PB&J for a whole week.
Now I must go and if you are reading this part then I thank you for wasting probably a good four minutes to do so. I'll share with you who I wanted to win in all seasons up to All Stars. Season 1- Chicken George Season 2- Dr. Will Season 3- Marcellus or Lisa Season 4- Jun or Jack Season 5- Diane season 6- Janelle Season 7, All Stars- Dr. Will or Janelle.

There is no reality in this "reality show". Adding this to the list of now finished shows along with Survivor. I hope they don't ruin Amazing Race but I am sure they will.

Most of these reviews are either really old, referring to earlier seasons, or even referring to the UK version which is not the same at all. It's a whole new game these days.
Big brother UK is mindless pap, where a bunch of people sit around and do almost nothing. It is a popularity contest, and nothing else. Absolute drivel. No strategy, no game, the only drama comes from the personality (or lack) of the house guests.
Big Brother US is awesome. The house guests compete for power and privileges, they scheme and conspire, with the goal of being the last one standing and winning the $500,000 prize.
The format of the show provides loads of drama. There are 3 episodes per week. First, they compete for head of household. The HOH nominates 2 house mates for eviction. Second, 6 of them compete for the power of Veto which allows them to save one of the nominees. The third show is the live vote and eviction, followed immediately by the next HOH competition. The contestants narrate the show and their personal strategies via the diary room.
There is a different "twist" every year, but the game remains the same. Be the last one standing. Trust no one. I love it!

Big Brother is one of the most vacuous shows I have ever seen on television. It is a classic example of what Newton Minow referred to when he said, "I can assure you that what you will observe is a vast wasteland." The show consists of about a dozen people who live together in a house and they scheme and make frivolous and childish "alliances" to remain in the house week after week without being "evicted" to get to the end where one person wins $500,000. They also have to perform in various competitions which can keep them safe until the next week or save them if they are "on the block." And a few have tedious "showmances." Other than that, the show is totally devoid of content. The house guests seem to never engage in intelligent conversations or to even discuss anything interesting. They don't talk about art, history, politics, theater, classic films, or books. But, they sit day after day talking about nonsense that almost never moves beyond who should "go home" next or who should be "back doored." The show is an excruciating insult to intelligence. Yes, I can change the channel and not watch... but you have to wonder what Bill Paley would think of this hot mess.
Strategy, competitions, and social game what more could you ask for

I first discovered this when Google recommended it to me. S25 had just started, so I watched all the way through episode 17, and then jumped around from there. It was really cool and exciting to see the underdogs rise up and the main alliance to get blindsided, but after the main "Leftovers" alliance had been formed, it was pretty boring because they comprised the majority, so whomever they wanted out got voted out. In addition, the "festie bestie" twist, while interesting on paper, wasn't as fun as expected, since there was always a person outside of the alliance in a pair that could be used as a pawn, without having to worry about putting one of their own on the block. I was, however, happy with the winner and thought it was well-deserved. Overall, I think this show is more interesting to analyze or watch a digest rather than binge.

Everybody boasts about being under the radar, she proves to cloak. She had a plan and everyone bought in to get Jase out. Michael's alliance saw her as a threat and Michael voted her out, (typical brother, I have 4.) As the seasons changed, every one took on her plan--she should have copyrighted it. As house guests saw the first go boom, they all were wondering if they were nominated by alliances as a "pawn" or really up to be evicted. I think as people saw themselves put on the block, and their allies were telling them they were safe there, so that there were enough Houseguests to play out the odds of winning the Power of Veto to save them, and then, use it on them to put the person they really wanted to see go out, on the block. If they didn't have the reassurance from the allies that they were safe, then they were wondering if they were really put up on the block by the other side. So everyone on that block, I'm sure, was thinking of Nakomis's plan, and if the people nominating them, were using it.

It totally boggles the mind that this show is still on the air. All I can say is...nepotism much? If Julie wasn't the wife of the head of the network, it would never have stayed on the air this long.
I do not find it the least bit enjoyable when all the contestants do is bicker and connive against each other. Watching a bunch of whinny, self-absorbed idiots is not what I consider entertainment!

I have never seen such bullies on a TV show...Jason, Alexis, Paul and Christmas are so mean and nasty... I am surprised that the producers would let them behave in this manner. I know it's just a show, but there is no reason for being a bully. Josh calls Mark a cry baby, when he is one... and he also acts like a child... and Paul is a friend to none. He treats everyone like a puppet. So, so sad this season is.

I started on season 25, it was really good, some of the 'nether region' stuff is goofy or campy, but funny. The competitions are really cool and clever. I like how they incorporated the multiverse into this season, and the twists are very suspenseful. People think this show is bad but I rate it 9 stars. It is on pretty late though. It is interesting to see all of the techniques, but really sad when your favorite houseguests get evicted. I have only met a few people who watch this. It is so underrated. It's not just a reality show, it's more. Zingbot is also really funny. This review is adjourned.
