Macaulay Culkin shot to fame in the late 80s with his appearance in Rocket Gibraltar. Managed by his father Kit Culkin, his acting career seemed to be on a constant rise ever since, with movies like Uncle Buck, Home Alone, Richie Rich, and more. The father-son duo were also spotted many times in public appearances and award shows having a good time back then.

However, according to the former child star, things were not as great as they appeared. Culkin has claimed many times throughout the years that his father was abusive. Not only towards him, but also his other siblings, most of whom were also child stars, and even towards his mother.
In an interview back in 2018, Culkin claimed that the abuse was so severe that he still carried scars from it. This is what, according to him, led to...

It seems impossible to imagine anyone but Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, and Kaley Cuoco on "The Big Bang Theory," but the truth is that other actors were considered before showrunner Chuck Lorre and his team found the perfect people for the lead roles. Marisa Tomei read for Cuoco's character Penny — who was also played by a different actress in the show's original, unaired pilot — and Kevin Sussman originally auditioned for the lead role of Howard Wolowitz (which went to Helberg in the end) before getting his own supporting character. Apparently, "Home Alone" star Macaulay Culkin was also approached for a role ... but he definitively said no.
During a 2018 interview with Joe Rogan, Culkin said that he hasn't really considered any major sitcom roles throughout his career, though it depends on the overall quality. "I couldn't see myself doing a sitcom or a television show kind of thing.

It is hard to believe (for people of a certain age), but the year 1994 was 30 years ago! For this week’s poll, we wanted to step back into the time machine and reminisce about what could possibly be considered one of the best years in cinema history. If, like me, you are in your thirties, 1994 holds a nostalgic place due to movies such as Blank Check, D2: The Mighty Ducks, Major League 2, Clifford, The Flintstones, Getting Even With Dad, Little Big League, Angels in the Outfield, The Little Rascals, Camp Nowhere, Richie Rich and Little Giants. The year also represented the huge breakout of comedy legend Jim Carrey as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, and Dumb and Dumber were all released during that single calendar year.
But it wasn’t just movies aimed at a child’s heart that were released in 1994. The year also saw some genuine...

The success of the Netflix series Wednesday thrust Jenna Ortega into superstardom. The former Disney Channel star was suddenly the most recognizable face in streaming. But did you know that her start in the entertainment business came after she was accidentally discovered on social media?
How did Jenna Ortega get discovered?
After Jenna Ortega’s mother posted a video of her doing a dramatic monologue on Facebook, it got the attention of a family friend who knew a casting agent. Soon after, Ortega was signed by a talent agency, and she began consistently booking work.
Ortega was just 9 years old at the time. Her first role was in the short-lived series Rob. She also made guest appearances on CSI: NY and segued into film with Iron Man 3 in 2013.

Macaulay Culkin has been famous since "Home Alone" came out in 1990, when he was just 10 years old. In the years immediately after, he became perhaps the biggest child star on the 1990s, appearing in movies like "My Girl, "The Pagemaster," and "Richie Rich." But by 1995, he had decided to take a break from acting, and he's tried to keep his life pretty private since. That includes his relationship with fellow actor Brenda Song; the pair reportedly got engaged in January 2022, though they never confirmed that news publicly. And back in 2021, he and Song welcomed their first child, Dakota, named after Culkin's sister who died in 2008. Their second child, Carson, followed shortly after, and the pair have strived to keep their kids out of the spotlight, too.
Even before he met Song, Culkin has tended to keep his romances low-key, which is pretty understandable, given his lifelong experiences in the spotlight.

Despite still being one of the most recognizable child stars of all time, Macaulay Culkin prefers to stay out of the spotlight these days. In a rare interview, Culkin opened up about his childhood acting in hit movies and how stories about him “divorcing” his parents were blown way out of proportion.
Macaulay Culkin became one of the world’s biggest child stars
Culkin began acting when he was just 4 years old, appearing onstage and in small parts in TV shows and movies. His big break came with 1989’s Uncle Buck, but it wasn’t until the following year, with the release of Home Alone, that Culkin became a household name. His role earned him a Golden Globe nomination and an American Comedy Award.

Jenna Ortega may just have become a household name after runaway hit “Wednesday,” but the rising talent has been in Hollywood for over a decade, starting her career at just 10 years old.
Ortega, who also sings on top of her acting, marked her onscreen debut with a 2012 episode of “Rob.” Just one year later, she played the Vice President’s daughter in Marvel’s “Iron Man 3.” The Disney star appeared in “Little Rascal’s Save the Day,” “Know It All Nina,” “Richie Rich,” and “Stuck in the Middle” before breaking into the horror genre. A longtime scream queen, Ortega’s credits include “Insidious: Chapter 2,” “Babysitter: Killer Queen,” “You,” “X,” and, of course, “Scream” and the upcoming “Scream 6.”

At this point, the accepted line on "The Simpsons" is that it hasn't been good for decades, which is sort of true, even if the new seasons suggest otherwise. Now that the show is on Disney+ and has been fully integrated into the house of mouse, it has seemingly completed its transformation into exactly the kind of commercialized pop culture product it once so deftly lampooned. But while it's easy to take shots at a show that's been on the air since the late-'80s one thing you simply can't knock is the voice acting talent.
Since 1989, the central cast has remained unchanged, with Dan Castellaneta, Yeardley Smith, Julie Kavner, and Nancy Cartwright giving voice to Matt Groening's original vision of the modern American family for 34 seasons straight. But back when "The Simpsons" was getting started, none of the cast could have known what they were signing up for.

After facing criticism for including 12-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong on their list of nominees, the Razzies have made yet another improvement to their parody awards program.
The Golden Raspberry Awards, a club known for honoring what they believe to be the worst movies and performances of the year, came under fire for placing the “Firestarter” actress in the Worst Actress category.

Armstrong’s name was taken from the ballot, Razzies creator John Wilson said in a statement, and he apologized. Under-18s will no longer be permitted to submit nominations for the awards, he added.
“We have never intended to bury anyone’s career. It is why our Redeemer Award was created. We all make mistakes, very much us included,” Wilson said.
The razzies are already mean-spirited & classless, but to nominate a kid is just repulsive & wrong.

The Razzies, the generally disgusting group that nominates the “worst” movies and performances of the year, used to be a group that was fun and witty but in recent years has curdled into something petty and unflaggingly mean-spirited.
That was – shocker! – the case again this year, when the group nominated 12-year-old actress Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who starred in last year’s “Firestarter” remake, as Worst Actress. The outrage was, as you can imagine, swift. And on Wednesday, the Razzies issued a predictably weak-tea response apologizing. How noble!
You can read the statement below, which is attributed to John Wilson of the Razzies, someone who we can only assume has created as much art, provided as many jobs and generated as much happiness as all of the performers and filmmakers the awards routinely, cruelly dunk on. (We cleaned up some of the weird spacing and spelling errors as a courtesy.)

The Razzie Awards are owning their own bad judgment.
After nominating 11-year-old “Firestarter” star Ryan Kiera Armstrong in the Worst Actress category, Razzie co-founder John Wilson issued a statement rescinding the nomination and apologizing to Armstrong.

The recent valid criticism of the choice of 11-year-old Armstrong as a nominee for one of our awards brought our attention to how insensitive we’ve been in this instance. As a result, we have removed Armstrong’s name from the Final Ballot that our members will cast next month.”

The Golden Raspberry Awards, aka the Razzies, which shame actors and filmmakers with an annual “worst of,” is getting blowback for including 12-year-old “Firestarter” actress Ryan Kiera Armstrong in its 2023 nominations, which were revealed on Monday.
Among those jumping in to defend Armstrong was 11-year-old actor Julian Hilliard, who plays Billy Maximoff on “WandaVision.”

In 1990, at only ten years old, Macaulay Culkin rose to fame as the spunky and self-sufficient Kevin McCallister in "Home Alone." The Christmas comedy directed Chris Columbus was an instant hit and Culkin quickly became one of the most sought-after kids in the business. After working alongside such greats like Catherine O'Hara, Daniel Stern, and Joe Pesci, Culkin is a true acting veteran -- and he has the scar to prove it.
In an interview on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien," Culkin reminisced about filming the "Home Alone" scene where Pesci and Stern -- playing the incompetent robber duo Harry and Marv, respectively -- hang him up on a door. Harry tells Kevin, "I'm going to bite each one of your fingers off one at a time," and in rehearsal Pesci actually did physically bite him. According to Culin, "He broke the skin and everything!"

Hulu’s list of new releases for June 2021 is highlighted by a host of useful library titles and one fascinating original film.
The original film in question is the one that lends its delightful photo of Pierce Brosnan delivering a baby to this post. False Positive stars and was written by Ilana Glazer (Broad City). It sounds like a really fun, creepy time with a synopsis that reads: “After months of trying and failing to get pregnant, Lucy (Glazer) and Adrian (Justin Theroux) finally find their dream fertility doctor in the illustrious Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan). But after becoming pregnant with a healthy baby girl, Lucy begins to notice something sinister through Hindle’s gleaming charm, and she sets out to uncover the unsettling truth about him, and her own “birth story.” Cool!
Hulu’s other original offerings aren’t too inspiring this month. Only Love, Victor season 2 on June 11 moves the needle much.

Macaulay Culkin is about to make another comeback. The former child star, who quickly became a household name after his performance in 1990’s “Home Alone,” is set to star in the upcoming 10th season of “American Horror Story.” It’s been a fascinating up and down journey in Hollywood for Culkin, who earned a Golden Globe nomination for his “Home Alone” performance and was quickly cast in a multitude of kid-centric films in the early ’90s, becoming one of the most in-demand child actors of the decade. Tour Culkin’s Top 10 movie roles, ranked worst to best, in our photo gallery above.

HBO Max has a major job on its hands to justify its approximately $15 a month subscription fee, especially given the strong competition out there from established names like Netflix and Amazon Prime. Disney Plus faced a similar challenge last year in arriving onto an already-saturated streaming marketplace, but at least had the advantage of major series like The Mandalorian to promote. While HBO Max will eventually be home to the Snyder cut of Justice League, and has some originals for its first week of availability, the big draw right now is its enormous back-catalogue of movies.
Given the various corporate elements that are going into HBO Max, including the Warner Bros. library, owners AT&T will be hoping that the combination of brand recognition for HBO programming, and a deep bench of movies, will convince people to add a new subscription to their list. Welcome to the HBO Max era! WarnerMedia’s streaming giant arrived on May 27 and is absolutely bursting with Warner movies, TV shows, and other titles. But time waits for no man or streaming service and each new month HBO Max will be expected to bring new content to the table. Things get started in June 2020 with the first batch of HBO Max new releases.
To be clear, the majority of the original series coming to HBO Max actually belongs to HBO. Shows like I May Destroy You (June 7), Perry Mason (June 21), and I’ll Be Gone in the Dark (June 28) all belong to HBO…which now just happens to be a part of HBO Max. Confusing stuff, we know, but rest assured that if you have HBO Max you’ll get these shows…and if you only have HBO, you can go ahead and just get HBO Max for the same price anyway.

Netflix was doing pretty good for itself as it was, but when the coronavirus pandemic shut down worldwide production of film and television, business began booming like never before. With so much extra demand, the streaming service is sifting content at an even higher pace, which entails the removal of some great titles that you should watch now while you still got the chance.
Perhaps the saddest loss subscribers will suffer in June is that of Bob Ross’ Beauty is Everywhere. Why exactly the streamer thought it would be a good idea to get rid of the painter’s therapeutically soothing voice and encouraging words in the midst of a nerve-wrecking crisis is a mystery. Fortunately, the deleted episodes are available online for free on Ross’ YouTube channel, which recently launched a respectable reboot of the infamous Joy of Painting series, too.

Netflix has been the saving grace of millions during the quarantine that has forced everyone inside in the midst of our ongoing global pandemic. As a matter of fact, Us Netflix subscribers are averaging 3+ hours a day on the streaming service, indicating that a fairly substantial part of everyone’s lives is catching up on movies or binging their favorite shows. The virus has even caused an all-time high for Netflix stocks, resulting in the company becomeing worth more than Disney. If that doesn’t blow your mind, nothing will.
That said, it’s been up to Netflix to ensure everyone continues to receive quality content to keep them entertained, and so far, they’ve been doing a really great job. May has seen an influx of fantastic films and shows, and there are sure to be plenty more to come when June rolls around.

Today is March 1st, which means we have a whole new set of titles to tell you about that just dropped on Netflix. The streaming service has 54 new movies/TV shows from nearly every major studio, including Warner Bros., Paramount and Sony, and while that number is still ten less than what we got last March, there’s far more original content on the service than there was a year ago. So, trust me when I say you’ve got plenty of options.
So many options, in fact, that I often find myself browsing for so long that I can’t decide on what to watch until it gets too late and I go to bed instead. First world problems, right?
In any case, below you’ll find the full list as well as a few descriptions of some personal favorites. Or some that I just felt like commenting on.

Netflix is adding a robust line-up of popular programs to its slate in March.
In addition to rom-coms like Matthew Mcconaughey’s “Ghosts of Girlfriend’s Past,” “He’s Just Not That Into You” and “Always a Bridesmaid,” the streamer is also adding a few classics like “Goodfellas” and “The Shawshank Redemption” starring Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins. The latter film also serves as an analogy for actor Macaulay Culkin’s journey to freedom, according to his Esquire interview.
Original Netflix shows coming to the platform next month include “Lost Girls,” “Crip Camp” and Season 3 of “Elite.” Based on a true story, “Lost Girls” follows a mother who, in her desperate search to find her missing daughter, helps to uncover a string of unsolved murders. Macaulay Culkin is the surprise name amongst the announced cast for FX’s American Horror Story Season 10.
American Horror Story, which is now pushing a decade on the air, may be a television institution that’s seemingly done it all across its various anthology iterations, but the long-in-the-tooth Ryan Murphy-created FX series is proving that it’s thirsty for more with the surprise announcement of its tenth season cast, revealing former child superstar Macaulay Culkin!
Murphy, in what has become a tradition, personally unveiled the ensemble lineup for American Horror Story Season 10 on his Instagram with a teaser video for the untitled anthology iteration. Set to the soundtrack of masked cowboy singer Orville Peck’s wistfully dreamy “Dead of Night,” the clip showcases the gloomy scenery of a beach, over which the revelatory cast credits roll.

"Little Italy is not big enough for me and you!" Lionsgate has debuted the first official trailer for a cheesy romantic comedy titled Little Italy, the latest from veteran filmmaker Donald Petrie. This film has such a cheesy concept, the kind that makes you roll your eyes it's just so awful. Here's what Little Italy is about: a young couple must navigate a blossoming romance, amidst a war between their families' competing pizza restaurants. Emma Roberts and Hayden Christensen star, along with Alyssa Milano, Danny Aiello, and Andrea Martin. This definitely looks as terrible as it sounds, complete with cliche rain scenes, a cook off (of course), scooter riding, and more ridiculousness. Avoid this film at all costs. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Donald Petrie's Little Italy, direct from YouTube: A delicious new comedy topped ...

When they were crafting a screenplay for 2005’s franchise-rebooting Batman Begins, writer David S. Goyer and director Christopher Nolan drew heavily on such DC-published titles as Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One as well as Batman: The Long Halloween and “The Man Who Falls” from Secret Origins. But a new YouTube video suggests that maybe the blockbuster’s biggest inspiration was something else entirely, something completely outside of the canon: 1994’s Richie Rich, directed by journeyman Donald Petrie and starring Macaulay Culkin as an impossibly wealthy child.

The 1994 film Richie Richie is a live-action film adaptation of the Harvey Comics' comic book character of the same name. Ha, I bet some of you didn't know that. The film starred Macaulay Culkin ("Uncle Buck") as Richard Rich, Jr., aka Richie Rich. Wait, if his first name is Richard that means he could use the short name Dick. Then he would be known as Dick Rich. Nice! The film struggled at the box office only pulling in $38 million against a production budget of $40 million, but it was a huge hit with VHS rentals, pulling in an additional $125 million. Wow! Apparently, nobody wanted to be caught watching it at their local theater but they didn't mind seeing it at home. Guilty pleasure! Netflix has picked up 21 episodes of a live-action Richie Rich series remake from DreamWorks Animation's AwesomenessTV. The series is obviously going to be geared toward kids, and it's based on the the classic comic strip and the 1980s animated series. Richie Rich features an updated take on the one percenter spoiled brat character. According to THR, it will follow the characters adventures as he is making a movie, and will travel the world including Antarctica, while meeting celebrities along the way. It seems like the majority of kids shows that my kids watch on the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon these days revolves around wealthy rich and famous kids.
Macaulay Culkin starred in a live action film adaptation in 1994, and it was as awful as a movie could possibly get.
