Fast paced, vibrant thrilling script with many twist and turns. Well defined wrought characters. It contrives events in the last two episodes to give way to a second season
Another great series from O2 Filmes (the same producer company behind the classic film "City of God") focused on social issues in Brazil with a high production value and an entertaining thriller plot.
Brotherhood was a great surprise. Had to stick through first two episodes for the plot to thicken and grab my attention. Highly recommend!!

I didn't expect much when I started to watch the first show, especially not that I would watch all 8 in one go. It is a great series showing the failed, corrupt Brazilian police and prison system. Marvelous acting makes you sometimes feel that you are in the middle of all that action. Can't wait for season 2.

I'm Brazilian, I grew up in the hood of São Paulo in the 90's
that's why I don't have any doubt how natural and realistic that series sounds.
Cast are good almost great especially some of its captivating characters.
Story are between excellence/great but I hope they can improve it even more next seasons.
You can breathe the tension and feel mentally tortured with all decisions of each character, see the dirty underground world of São Paulo.
Enjoy the story while you try to figure out how to scape from the hell that only corruption, social inequality, extreme violence and crime can bring to you.

Movies like Tropa d'elite and Ciudade de Deus are one of my favourites, with the raw Brazilian mentality and how hard life can be over there. If you like those kind of movies, you'll like this series too.
Irmandade - the Brotherhood - is a terrific show with a great depiction of the mismanagement of Brazilian prisons. It also shows the great strength of people - if they are well organised - who want to fight aforementioned injustice. Very well told with some surprising twists.

I absolutely loved this series. It's very exciting and different from regular american series. Hope they make a season II.
This series brings us to Brasilian penitentiary system & criminal gangs underworld. Until this point, it could be an interesting view, as it connects directly to great films such as Tropa de Elite, Cidade de Deus (where Seu Jorge has a remarkable acting). The problem is that the whole script is flat, forseable and lacks of basic sense of humor. Transform Seu Jorge in such a dull caracter should be considered a crime. The previously mentioned films or even Oz and El Marginal are way much more interesting.
This is a very good show right from the 2nd episode you get into it . If you're a fan of prison shows then this is great . This show doesn't praise the bad guys but rather shows us a corrupt judicial system in Brazil . It makes you think whether bad guys are really the bad guys or just made to be by a corrupt judicial system

Fast paced series, with many things going on every episode that really pushes you to continue watching all in a row. As a south american, what happens in Brazil is almost identical to the rest of the neighbor countries, but in Brazil the violence and the riots reach extremes, as maybe you saw in real news.
Worth watching.

It's been on netflix for a while, decided to give one episode a go as content on netflix is pretty dire atm; I am now totally hooked.
Not the storyline I was expecting, strongly acted, fast paced then slow them fast paced, every episode leaves you wanting to jump in to the next, the way a series should be.
My only issue was the subtitles but once you get used to it, you forget the language they are speaking, the characters are very believable and loved the fact it wasn't all set within the confines of a prison, which is what I expected.
I would definitely recommend if you are looking for something to watch.

"Irmandade" received a 9 from me. This series delves deeply into the characters' psychology, offering an intense and, at times, heavy experience, depending on the viewer's sensitivity.
The narrative creates a tense atmosphere that permeates the entire story, telling viewers that life is not just made up of positive moments. The themes explored are complex and profound, touching on moral issues, personal dilemmas and the challenges faced by individuals in difficult circumstances.
"Irmandade" is not just an entertainment series; is a reflection on the harsh realities of life, with an approach that provokes reflection and discussion. Its ability to capture the viewer emotionally and intellectually is what makes it a memorable and impactful experience.

This is one of those bad shows that you still have to finish each episode. The idea was good but the execution was horrible. That includes the writing, the casting, the acting, and the annoying dream flashbacks that were supposed to be symbolic but were merely a nuisance.
I wasn't inspecting much from this show but It surprised me it was brilliant well worth the watch.

Amazing acting. I find they act better than a lot of hollywood actors, I would say the lead character's one is the less impressive, all the others feel 100% natural. The story is really cool, it just got me immediately.
I haven't watched a full series in 3 years, none was able to catch my attention but this one I finished it in 2 days I looved it I really hope they will film season 2.
Watch it, I hope you won't regret it like me.

Come on... I think this was one of the worst series ever.. i mean, did they really missed what was happening! It was sooooo obvious wether in the circumstances, body and face language that director was so happy to take close shots, or her dump looks to her partners!!!! Get me out of here.

I registered on this website today just to drop negative review cause of how this movie reduced my IQ i look watching this movie right now. This is one of those movies where i keep hoping to understand where it's headed but it keeps failing, i gave them benefit of doubt every episode it gets to still makes no sense, the movie has no direction, i feel sorry for the man in prison he had a strong character but the movie killed his vibe.
It's just full of nothingness, how do you intend to release your brother from jail after he committed crimes and admitted to it and even said he would do more. The build up is slow asf,
