The first season of Fallout on Amazon was a big success, a TV adaptation of Bethesda's long-running post-apocalyptic video game series that alternates between bleak brutality and off-the-wall silliness. The cast and crew are getting going on season 2, and Deadline reports that Macaulay Culkin will be joining the cast.
Culkin is best known for his work as a child star in the 1990s, having starred in two Home Alone movies. He's appeared only sporadically since then, popping up on shows like American Horror Story and The Righteous Gemstones. Per Deadline, he'll play “a crazy genius-type character,” which sounds about right.
On The Righteous Gemstones, Culkin played the estranged son of Walton Goggins' character. On Fallout, Goggins plays the Ghoul, a mutated bounty hunter who makes stalks the waste looking for revenge against the people who made the world like this in the first place. Ella Purnell and Aaron Moten...

CBS‘ single-camera comedy pilot Dmv has added Alex Tarrant (NCIS: Hawai’i), Tony Cavalero (The Righteous Gemstones) and Gigi Zumbado (Doctor Odyssey) in series regular roles.
They join the previously announced cast of Tim Meadows, Harriet Dyer and Molly Kearney.
Written by Dana Klein based on author Katherine Heiny’s short story, Dmv is a workplace comedy set at the place everyone dreads going most: the Dmv. Our quirky and lovable characters are making minimum wage, doing a thankless job where customers are annoyed before they even walk in the door. Good thing they have each other.
Tarrant will play “Noa,” a dreamy, charismatic, golden boy who seems destined for much greater things than working at the Dmv. He is good at everything and never gets into awkward situations. A star surfer, he lives the “Pura Vida” life and doesn’t sweat the small stuff.

Amy Adams is on the promotional circuit for her new movie, where she thinks she’s a dog. You read that correctly. Nightbitch is a new comedy that initially gave off the impression that Amy Adams plays a mom who may be turning into a werewolf, but the movie actually doesn’t cross into the supernatural as some may expect. Our own Chris Bumbray says in his review, “While horror fans will be disappointed to learn this isn’t the quasi-Amy Adams werewolf movie we all wanted, Nightbitch is still a nice little flick that would make for a great night out at the theatre for new parents. Just expect a heavy conversation on the drive home.”
Variety profiles Adams for her upcoming film and the actress addresses her past projects. She reflects on her time in the Dceu playing Lois Lane opposite Henry Cavill. While Cavill’s exit...

Superman director James Gunn revealed the first look at Krypto the Superdog yesterday, but some fans have already criticized his breed. While Krypto is typically depicted as a white Labrador Retriever, he has appeared as many different breeds over the years. Not exactly the most consistent pup. For the film, Gunn chose to model Krypto after his own dog, Ozu.
In response to Gunn’s reveal of Krypto on Threads, one fan said, “Not to be ‘that guy,’ but isn’t Krypto supposed to be something akin to a Labrador or something similar?” Gunn replied, “No. Krypto is historically a generic white dog, sometimes also a lab, white shepherd, husky, or Dalmatian. But obviously he’s an alien so he wouldn’t necessarily be exactly any one of these things.“

If you’ve been on the internet for any length of time since about 2013, you’ve run into the “Florida Man” meme, premised on the idea that, at any given moment, a Florida man is wilding out in a way that’s possibly criminal and definitely irrational. If a man is almost dying getting a lap dance from his housekeeper, snorting coke to hide evidence after fleeing a traffic stop or jogging shirtless in defiance of Hurricane Milton’s imminent landfall, he’s a Florida man. He’s been immortalized in a website, an Instagram feed, a subreddit and quasi-Olympic “Games” where competitors wrestle in muddy water and tussle while holding pitchers of beer. He used to be the subject of a Twitter feed collecting kooky stories, but its curator, Freddie Campion, retired it in 2019. As he told Logan Hill for a piece in the Washington Post that year, Campion shut it down after wondering,...

Who’s the best boy? Krypto, that’s who! Superman’s forever-faithful canine companion, Krypto, is making his debut today for James Gunn’s Superman, with a moving image of the Man of Steel and his very good boy enjoying a moment away from the madness of planet Earth. Gunn shared the photo on social media on Tuesday alongside a brief history of how Krypto became a part of the filmmaker’s highly-anticipated film, starring David Corenswet as Big Blue.
Today’s image of Superman and Krypto shows the Last Son of Krypton and his favorite doggo, Krypto, enjoying a respite from crime-fighting on the moon. Everyone knows that Florida is a crazy place where things happen that don’t happen anywhere else. HBO’s new late-night comedy series “It’s Florida, Man” celebrates that wackiness, telling ripped-from-the-headlines tales from the Sunshine State in a genre-defying way that’s something like a cross between true crime documentary and sketch comedy, or as someone says in the YouTube comments for the trailer released today, “Drunk History: Florida Man Edition.”
“As stories get wilder, more often than not, they’re not true,” says Carl Hiaasen, the novelist (“Bad Monkey”) and newspaper columnist who’s one of Florida’s foremost chroniclers. “But in Florida, they’re all true.”
The series hails from creator Mark Herwick and director Jeff Tomsic, who executive produce alongside “The Righteous Gemstones” EPs Danny McBride and Brandon James, with Bryan Storkel. The show features interviews from everyday Floridians about the stranger-than-fiction things that have happened to them.

Fox is developing a comedy series centered on a washed up golf prodigy, Variety has learned exclusively.

Chad Mountain is writing and executive producing, with Oliver Hudson, John Stalberg Jr., Douglas Banker of Five All in the Fifth, Jonathan Watson, and Scott MacArthur also executive producing. Fox Entertainment Studios will produce.
The official logline for the series states, “A famous former golf prodigy, who vanished into anonymity after a very public meltdown, is dragged into the limelight a decade later, forcing his dysfunctional family to futilely scramble to save their opulent lifestyle and fragile egos.”
There is no cast currently attached to the project, but sources say it could serve as a starring vehicle for Hudson should it go forward. The show falls under the broadcast direct deal Hudson and his producing partner Stalberg signed with Fox in 2023. Under that deal,...

David Corenswet was seen this year as the antagonist in Twisters, and while audiences new to him got a sense of his physique as his height allowed him to tower over his co-stars, he would later put on the necessary muscle to become the Man of Steel in James Gunn‘s Dcu film Superman. Variety reports that Corenswet recently appeared on the Manly Things (Sort of) podcast, where he spoke of his Kryptonian transformation.
Corenswet explained, “I wasn’t 238 (pounds) when we started shooting. I was 238 at my max. I didn’t fit into any of my pants.” The new Kal-El actor spoke candidly about getting used to the new weight and he joked about his realization that he had become a 2Xl shirt size when he attended the table read for Superman. He stated, “That was at the peak of my bulk. And then I slowly lost weight before we started shooting.

Alan Tudyk is one of those actors who can do anything, from stone-cold killers to crime-solving aliens to slow-witted roosters, and now he might be joining Superman on the big screen. According to Deadline, Tudyk may have a secret role in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie. Exactly who the actor might be playing is being kept under wraps, but it could be anything, even a voice role.
Tudyk is actually already a part of the new DC Universe. He voices Doctor Phosphorus in Creature Commandos. The rest of the cast of the upcoming animated series includes Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Indira Varma as The Bride, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, and Steve Agee as John Economos, and Sean Gunn as Weasel. The series tracks a secret team of incarcerated monsters recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans.

Walton Goggins is a terrific character actor who we believe is long overdue for an Emmy. He may not be the favorite to take home the Best Actor in a Drama Series trophy on Sunday, but he’s a winner in Nielsen’s book.
With probably too much time on their hands, the researchers at the TV ratings company ranked the nominees in the top seven Emmys categories by the number of hours that Americans viewed during the Emmys eligibility period, June 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024. The results bare almost zero correlation or causation to what will happen this weekend, but it’s fun?
Goggins had one hell of an eligibility period and led the lead-actors group with 363.9 million viewing hours during the 12-month period. “Fallout” was the biggest single slice of the pie, but Nielsen also counts here “The Righteous Gemstones” Season 3, the “Justified” sequel series, and anything else Goggins has...

Walton Goggins could probably use a nap. For the last year, he’s been hopping from one set to the next, taking part in big productions, like Prime Video’s TV series adaptation of “Fallout,” and indie projects, like the upcoming based-on-a-true-story game show thriller “The Luckiest Man in America,” which had its world premiere at TIFF this week. Taking a break from his current shoot on Season 4 of “The Righteous Gemstones,” Goggins spoke to IndieWire briefly about one of his more anticipated projects, Season 3 of Mike White’s hit HBO series “The White Lotus,” and the bond that grew with his cast-mates over the long, six-month shoot.

This winter, Macaulay Culkin will give the Home Alone film franchise the holiday tour Q&a cash-in treatment. Good luck to anyone who tries to sneak into the screenings.
It’s an American holiday tradition for families to crowd around the living room on a chilly night with mugs full of hot cocoa and a bowl full of microwave popcorn and watch their favorite Christmas comedies. Out in the Midwest, Middle America takes this custom one step further as countless fans of classic films like National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation are happy to fill up the minivan and brave the frozen tundra to see 80-year-old Chevy Chase plug in the festive string lights at a Raising Cane’s at 8 p.m. on a Wednesday in November. For some reason only Illinois anthropologists can identify, the Christmas comedies of the 1980s and 1990s are still incredibly bankable appearance opportunities for the films’ stars,...

50 years after its original run, the Norman Lear-produced sitcom "Good Times" is more than just "Dy-no-mite!" It's a spinoff within a spinoff and a classic Black family sitcom that inspired controversy as well as laughter. Like many beloved shows from the '70s, "Good Times" made headlines for behind-the-scenes drama and cast disagreements, but it also captivated audiences.
Originally formulated as a spinoff of "Maude" (which was itself a spinoff of unlikely hit "All in the Family"), "Good Times" retconned its central characters and setting in favor of a new premise. Henry (John Amos) became James, the family got poorer, and the setting switched from New York to Chicago, where it took inspiration from the Cabrini-Green housing projects. Audiences still dug the new show, though by the time it signed off five years later, it had changed entirely: Amos and original star Esther Rolle had left, and the show's most one-dimensional character,...

It's the dawn of a new day in the DC Universe, with James Gunn's upcoming movie "Superman" introducing a new version of the titular Man of Steel, played this time around by David Corenswet. This reset is particularly important for Jimmy Olsen, the fresh-faced photojournalist and cub reporter who works alongside Clark Kent and Lois Lane at the Daily Planet. The most recent movie version of Jimmy was introduced briefly in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" as a CIA operative (played by Michael Cassidy), only to be killed off almost immediately.
Now, through the magic of a soft franchise reboot, Jimmy will be reborn in "Superman" -- played this time around by Skyler Gisondo. To celebrate the 83rd anniversary of Jimmy Olsen's first (named) appearance in DC Comics, Gunn shared a first look of Gisondo in the role. He certainly has the perfect dimpled smile to play Jimmy,...

Today marks 83 years since Jimmy Olsen made his DC Comics debut and Superman writer and director James Gunn has shared two new shots of Skyler Gisondo's version of the character.
One was released on X and the other on Instagram; the actor is wearing the same costume we saw in set photos, suggesting that will be his main look throughout the duration of this movie.
The actor certainly looks the part and is best known for roles in Licorice Pizza, Booksmart, Vacation, The Righteous Gemstones, and Santa Clarita Diet.
It's been a while since we've seen Clark Kent's friendship with Jimmy explored on screen. With Gunn - a huge comic book fan - in charge of the Dcu, that finally looks set to change.

With Warner Bros.' new Dcu still in its infancy, we haven't seen that many rumors doing the rounds online. But with production gearing up for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and James Gunn and Peter Safran slowly starting to turn their attention to future projects, we do have a few intriguing reports to share.
It's pretty much been radio silence on the live-action Teen Titans movie since it was first announced back in March, but a recent Production Weekly logline claimed to reveal the key team members:

Eric André says he was “racially profiled” and “detained” at the Melbourne Airport after a series of flights from New York City.
In a video posted to Instagram, the comedian and actor said he was “pulled out of a lineup and put in a special line in Melbourne where I was sniffed thoroughly by a dog.”
“It’s one of the many times I’ve been racially profiled at the airport,” André said. “So this is a message for all Black, brown and indigenous people traveling through Melbourne today.”
André then asked his nearly three million followers if anyone had information about the specific police program, or statistics on how many white passengers versus people of color are selected. He also solicited recommendations for a discrimination lawyer in Australia.

Superman wrapped production last month, but the film’s release is still nearly a year away. This will give Superman director James Gunn enough time to perfect the VFX during the post-production process, and it’s all by design.
On Threads, a fan brought up the plight of overworked VFX artists who are forced to work very tight deadlines in order to get a film out on time. Now that James Gunn is running DC Studios, things will be different, with Superman getting a lengthy post-production schedule.
“If you do some research you’ll see my films have always taken a different approach and I’ve always given my VFX artist-collaborators time to do their jobs properly, and the respect they deserve,” Gunn wrote. “And the quality of the VFX in those films is uniformly great because of it (and because my friends at Weta and Framestore and Ilm and...

When you think of an "Alien" movie, you would be forgiven for thinking primarily of...well, you know, of the alien at the center of each story. The people in each film in this long-running franchise may come and go, but we all know who and what the Xenomorph is, and its propensity for killing as many people as possible. But an iconic horror movie bad guy is just one piece of what has made the "Alien" franchise stand the test of time. Most major blockbusters involve some degree of reshoots, be they one day or even several months, but it sounds like James Gunn isn’t expecting to do any on his upcoming Superman movie.

Karma’s a bitch… and she loves a genre flick.
M. Night Shyamalan just put the spotlight back on viral terror with “Trap,” an escape room horror about a killer attempting to outmaneuver the cops at a concert packed with iPhones. In fewer theaters this weekend (but streaming too!) is director Marcus Dunstan’s “#Amfad: All My Friends Are Dead.” That’s another internet horror movie featuring a major pop music event — only here the murderer and their victims never make it inside the venue.
Starring ex-Nickelodeon favorite Jade Pettyjohn and none other than JoJo Siwa herself, “#Amfad” sees its masked villain ensnare a van full of wannabe internet celebs in a “Seven”-esque killing spree at a remote Airbnb. Both former kid-stars-turned-social-media-heavyweights, Pettyjohn and Siwa worked together years ago when the “Dance Moms” legend guest-starred with series regular Pettyjohn on “School of Rock.”

Dermot Mulroney has joined “Chicago Fire” Season 13 as the station’s newest fire chief.
Mulroney, who recently starred in Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell’s “Anyone but You,” will play Chief Dom Pascal in the NBC procedural’s upcoming season. Dermot Mulroney has been cast in NBC’s Chicago Fire as Chief Dom Pascal for the upcoming thirteenth season.
As Deadline revealed exclusively in June, the hit Wolf Entertainment firefighter drama was adding a new series regular character to lead 51 following the exit of Eamonn Walker — who had played Battalion Chief Wallace Boden for 12 seasons — as a series regular at the end of Season 12.
No official details about Mulroney’s characters have been revealed. According to sources, Dom Pascal began his career with the Cfd but spent the last decade as a chief in Sunny Miami. Described as a cheerful person who works well under pressure, and whose leadership style differs from Boden’s, Pascal is estranged from his wife.
Before Boden was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of the Chicago Fire Department, he had chosen Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) as his successor.
