“Yellowjackets” is officially returning in February. This will mark a nearly two year gap from when Season 2 premiered.
Hilariously given its dark subject matter, the first two episodes of the Showtime original will debut Feb. 14 on both streaming and on demand for those subscribed to the Paramount+ with Showtime plan. Season 3’s linear premiere will then take place on Feb. 16. Internationally, the season will premiere on Paramount+ in the U.K., Australia, Latin America, Brazil, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria on Feb. 14. It will then debut in France later this year.
This season will introduce two new stars to the Emmy-nominated drama’s twisted story. Two-time Academy Award-winning actress Hilary Swank (“Million Dollar Baby”) will guest star along with “Community” and “Animal Control” star Joel McHale.
Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, “Yellowjackets” takes place across two different timelines. In the 1990s, the series follows a promising high school...

Netflix has been sued for copyright infringement by a producer, who alleges that his script for a project he’s producing was ripped off to make Rez Ball.
Rob Grabow, in a lawsuit filed on Thursday in California federal court, says the movie copied elements of his script for The Gift of the Game. Like Rez Ball, it follows a high school basketball team on a Native American reservation with state championship aspirations while exploring issues of community, race relations and poverty.
In 2024, Grabow says he reached out to Brit Hensel, who worked in the camera department on Reservation Dogs, to introduce himself and gauge her interest in directing his screenplay. She was sent a copy of his copyrighted script, along with a nondisclosure agreement.
“After reading the script, Hensel told Grabow that she saw a great deal of potential in the story, but that additional work on the script would be necessary,...

Principal photography for Jaume Collet-Serra’s Cliffhanger reboot is officially underway in Austria, where Lily James defies gravity while pushing herself to the limit. Today, Rocket Science, in partnership with Thank You Pictures and Supernix, unveiled two first-look images from the film’s shoot in Austria’s East Tyrol region of the Lienz Dolomites. I hope you don’t get vertigo because the reboot of Sylvester Stallone’s 1993 thriller, starring Lily James and Pierce Brosnan, looks like it’s off to an exciting start.
“In this reboot of Cliffhanger, seasoned mountaineer Ray Cooper (Pierce Brosnan) and his daughter Sydney run a mountain chalet in the Dolomites. During a weekend trip with a billionaire’s son, they are targeted by a gang of kidnappers. Ray’s older daughter Naomi (Lily James), still haunted by a past climbing accident, witnesses the attack and escapes. To save her family, she must confront her...

A reboot of Sylvester Stallone’s action classic “Cliffhanger” is currently in production, but the film will look a lot different from the package initially announced nearly 18 months ago.
Stallone will no longer star in the update meant to be directed by Ric Roman Waugh (“Greenland”) from a script by Mark Bianculli (“Hunters”). A creative overhaul has meant that actor Lily James will take on the lead role. Pierce Brosnan will co-star and Jaume Collet-Serra will direct. The project hails from Rocket Science in partnership with Thank You Pictures and Supernix.
Filming is underway in Austria with a buzzy supporting cast, including: Nell Tiger Free, festival darling Franz Rogowski (“Passages”), Shubham Saraf (“Shantaram”), Assaad Bouab (“Franklin”), Suzy Bemba (“Poor Things”) and Bruno Gouery, a breakout star of the Netflix hit “Emily in Paris.”

We might be adults or quite old now, but when it comes to Harry Potter movies, the child in us is always ready to say Wingardium Leviosa or Expelliarmus! Growing up, we all wished to be at Hogwarts to fight the dark goblins and have the magic wand. That’s the amount of craze that the Harry Potter movies hold. They created a world of magic and mystery that captivated all of us all these years.
The movie series based on Jk Rowling’s novels starred Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint as the iconic characters of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley. It goes way back to when the first-ever Harry Potter movie was released in November 2001 and ran across eight films over 10 years.

Black As Night director Maritte Lee Go explores the horrors of motherhood in the new “Tales From the Void” episode “Carry,” which premiered yesterday on Screambox.
The original series delivers six chilling tales adapted from the extremely popular r/No Sleep (18M subs) stories from series creator Francesco Loschiavo.
Two episodes premiere exclusively on Screambox every Sunday, through October 27. The episodes will also be available to buy or rent via electronic sell-through platforms the following Tuesday.
“Carry” adapts the r/NoSleep story “Pro-Life” by Grayson Grume, a story that struck a personal and timely chord for Maritte Lee Go. “‘Carry’ is about a young woman who gets married,” the filmmaker tells us. “She comes from a very, very religious family, with a religious new husband, and she becomes pregnant. The baby is diagnosed with anencephaly, which is a condition where the brain is exposed, and the skull is not present.

Caddo Lake writer-directors Celine Held and Logan George are still pinching themselves over M. Night Shyamalan’s faith in their mind-bending second feature.
Years ago, when Shyamalan was actively recruiting cinematographers for the third season of his Apple TV+ series Servant, he took a look at Held and George’s acclaimed short film called Caroline, but instead of just hiring their Dp Lowell A. Meyer, he insisted on employing the entire team. When the married directing duo arrived at Shyamalan’s office to get the lay of the land and watch an early cut of Servant’s season three premiere, the NYU alums were both caught off guard when the Unbreakable filmmaker inquired about their second feature script that was then known as Vanishings.
“[Shyamalan] was like, ‘I’d love to read it.’ So we emailed it to him, thinking that he was just being nice, but he read it that weekend,...

Between Caddo Lake on Max, Saturday Night in theaters and his beloved New York Mets’ current playoff run, Dylan O’Brien has all his bases covered.
During a chat with THR in March of 2022, O’Brien teased the big swing that is Celine Held and Logan George’s Caddo Lake, remarking that editing would be the thriller’s deciding factor. After a lengthy delay due to 2023’s labor stoppages, Held and George’s growing family and producers wanting to ensure a spooky season release, O’Brien’s two-and-a-half-year-old assessment turned out to be right on the money. Co-written and co-directed by Held and George, their now well-received film presents itself as a drama about two working-class Texans (O’Brien’s Paris and Eliza Scanlen’s Ellie) who are trying to reconcile the loss of their respective loved ones. And in the blink of an eye, Held and George pull the rug...

M. Night Shyamalan certainly has been busy this year pushing out his signature brand of twisty thrillers. So far in 2024 we have had his daughter’s directorial effort, The Watchers, which he produced; the intriguing modest hit Trap, which stars another daughter and which he directed and produced; and now Caddo Lake, which is being heavily advertised as from “Producer M. Night Shyamalan.” Set for a streaming debut on Max starting Thursday rather than going theatrical like the rest of his feature output, the pic unmistakably fits right into his own filmography, even if he turned over writing and directing reins to the team of Celine Held and Logan George.
Actually this one went into production exactly three years ago under the title The Vanishing at Caddo Lake — while Shyamalan still was working his now-wrapped Apple TV+ series Servant, which happens to be a key credit for his filmmakers here...

It’s not just the water that’s murky out on Caddo Lake. Death and disappearance abound in the swamp cypress labyrinth dividing East Texas and Louisiana, but without excitement or dread. Rather, this thriller’s incidents occur only to build up to a clarifying “ah-ha” moment, which occurs between several ho-hum moments.

In Rob Reiner's classic 80s rom-com When Harry Met Sally, there's a moment where Billy Crystal's Harry asks Meg Ryan's Sally, "Don't you have a dark side?" And whilst in that film, as in so many others over the years, that question serves as the set-up for a Crystal comic zinger, in Sarah Thorp's upcoming Apple TV+ psychological thriller Before, it looks like we'll be seeing the iconic funnyman's own dark side for the first time. Here, Crystal plays Eli, a grieving child psychiatrist who develops an inexplicable bond with troubled patient Noah (Jacobi Jupe) — and if the first trailer's anything to go by, then it looks like things may be about to take a turn for the supernatural in Crystal's dramatic lead debut. Check it out:
Dead wife. Creepy farmhouse. Even creepier kid. And a dramatic rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'? Monsters, Inc. this ain't.

Most of the world might know Dave Bautista from his role in Guardians of the Galaxy. However, long before the star dived into the world of films, he had been an extremely well-known professional wrestler who could put anyone to shame. With the 55-year-old coming from a background of using his brawn and not his brain, he ended up falling into the ‘big guy’ stereotype. Unfortunately, he has still not managed to break away from it. However, the former WWE superstar is not the only one stuck being typecast.

Harry Potter brought a world full of magic and wizards, where anything seemed possible. The first movie, titled Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, was released way back in 2001. And even after several decades and eight movies later, the franchise is still loved by millions. Based on the novels of acclaimed author J.K. Rowling, the project also brought forth three new faces out in the open.

Back in October of 2021, we heard that M. Streaming service Max is preparing to release one of its most anticipated original movies of the fall with the premiere of “Caddo Lake” on October 10. Led by Dylan O’Brien in his first major starring role since “The Maze Runner” franchise, “Caddo Lake” promises to deliver a suspenseful tale of mystery and intrigue set amongst the eerie backdrop of the titular lake.
Written and directed by filmmaking duo Logan George and Celine Held, “Caddo Lake” centers around a young boy who goes missing on the lake, sparking a series of deaths and disappearances that all seem to connect back to one troubled family. And so it’s a very weird and interesting situation I’m feeling. I wish I could tell them faster. I wish I could get there faster, but there is no shortcut. I have to spend the six to nine months to write it. I have to storyboard for three months, and then we have pre-production, and then shooting it, and edit for as long as I can get every single second.“ Soon after, it was announced that he had secured a multi-year deal with Warner Bros. – and he immediately went to work on his recent thriller Trap. You can watch it in the embed above.

Another day, another small-town mayor refusing to acknowledge that his town could be in grave danger. That's the gist of newly ordered-to-series Widow's Bay, an upcoming 10-episode horror-comedy set for Apple TV+.
1428 Elm has learned that the show will be created by Katie Dippold, best known for writing The Heat, starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. Filmmaker Hiro Murai (Atlanta) will direct the pilot episode.
Apple didn't share much else about Widow's Bay just yet, unfortunately, except that it will be produced in-house by Apple Studios and the series is set in a cursed New England town. As mentioned above, something supernatural starts to threaten town residents but the mayor refuses to believe anything is wrong. Sounds like maybe the mayor from Amity Island relocated.
Dippold is credited as the showrunner and creator of the new series, which she also executive produces. Murai will executive produce as well, alongside Carver Karaszewski and Claudia Shin.

In 2005, an episode of Adult Swim animated series “Robot Chicken” featured a segment parodying the films of M. Night Shyamalan, who had then just released critical failure “The Village” the previous year. Titled “The Twist,” the sketch depicts Shyamalan as a screeching jokester with a heavy Indian accent who reacts to everything that happens to him and his family by turning to the camera and exclaiming “What a twist!”
For many people, that sketch sums up Shyamalan’s public persona: He’s a man who loves his twist endings. Born in India and raised in Philadelphia, Shyamalan directed a handful of films before 1999’s “The Sixth Sense,” but it was that cultural phenomenon — and the now legendary twist ending that closes it — that introduced him into the popular consciousness. A macabre drama starring Bruce Willis as a child psychologist working with a young boy (played by Haley Joel Osment) who can communicate with the dead,...

Many Eyes, the new band formed by ex-Every Time I Die singer Keith Buckley, have announced their debut album, The Light Age, out September 6th. The single “Harbinger” can be heard now.
Continuing where he left off in Every Time I Die, Buckley helms a ferocious brand of metalcore in his new band, and “Harbinger” is perhaps the most aggro track from the group to date. A relentless beatdown of thrash riffs and sharp leads echoes the throat shredding screams of Buckley, who sounds as desperate as ever here.

“‘Harbinger’ feels like the end of the world is suddenly happening, so that’s what the lyrics are about,” the singer commented via press release.
On the recordings for The Light Age, Buckley was joined by drummer and multi-instrumentalist Nick Bellmore and his brother, guitarist Charlie Bellmore. Nick also produced the record, with Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta serving as executive producer.

Filmmaker and master of suspense M. Night Shyamalan is returning to the big screen next month with his concert-set thriller, “Trap,” but the big twist is “Trap” is about more than just whatever twist Shyamalan has cooked up.
The film has been largely hyped for the return of Josh Hartnett as a leading man, especially in a dark role that sees him as a serial killer trying to evade a trap laid out for him at a pop concert. But in a recent interview with Empire, Shyamalan boasts another huge reason to see “Trap” in theaters is that viewers will be getting an actual concert film in addition to his standard mystery fare. In fact, when asked how he pitched the film, Shyamalan said, “What if ‘The Silence Of The Lambs’ happened at a Taylor Swift concert?”
While Shyamalan was partially inspired by a real-life sting operation from 1985 conducted by U.

The premise of M. Night Shyamalan's new film "Trap" is intense and intriguing. The film's ubiquitous previews have laid it bare: an average middle-aged dad named Cooper (Josh Hartnett) is accompanying his tween daughter to a high-profile concert, performed by an Olivia Rodrigo-type pop star. While picking up refreshments at the concession stand, Cooper notices a palpable police presence at the Philadelphia arena where the concert is taking place. An employee excitedly informs him that the police have the entire arena surrounded, hoping to capture a serial killer they believe to be hiding inside.
This worries Cooper, although not for the reasons you might think. It turns out that Cooper is the serial killer in question and even has a potential victim lied up in his basement at home. What is the killer going to do to evade police capture? Or will the police be clever enough to capture him?...

M. Night Shyamalan’s daughter Ishana Night Shyamalan made her feature directorial debut with a thriller called The Watchers, which received a June 7th theatrical release, courtesy of Warner Bros. / New Line Cinema. (You can read our review Here and watch our interviews with the director and cast members Here.) The movie did not enjoy the sort of box office success many of the elder Shyamalan’s films have, drawing in just over $25 million worldwide so far. But maybe it will reach a wider audience with its digital release, which is just one week away. Media Play News reports that on June 28th, three weeks after it reached theatres, The Watchers will be available to watch in the comfort of your own home. The 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release will follow on August 27th.

What were some of your favorite shows from the 1990s? Living Single? Sabrina the Teenage Witch? Boy Meets World? Everybody Loves Raymond? What if you saw the cast in an updated horror movie that forces them to recreate iconic moments to stay alive? That's the plot of the upcoming thriller Fourth Wall, starring American Horror Story and Scream Queens alum Emma Roberts.
Stampede Pictures is producing the new film. They previously worked with Roberts on the comedy film Space Cadets, which will be released on Prime Video this Fourth of July and also stars Gabrielle Union, Tom Hopper, and Poppy Liu.
Fourth Wall features Roberts in the leading role as an actress from a popular '90s series who gets kidnapped one day and wakes up to find herself on a set that has been painstakingly recreated to look like the show's, and all of her castmates are with her.

[This story contains spoilers for The Watchers.]
As an artist, it’s no easy task to define oneself, to showcase a perspective and style that differentiates you from others. And it’s always that “other” that looms large, impacting your and everyone else’s perceptions of you. This is certainly the case for Mina (Dakota Fanning), a young, directionless artist whose car breaks down in the ancient woods of Ireland where she finds herself lost, in more ways than one, in The Watchers, based on the novel by A.M. Shine.
The film marks the feature debut of 24-year-old Ishana Night Shyamalan, daughter of cinematic storyteller, M. Night Shyamalan. The younger Shyamalan cut her teeth as a producer and director on her father’s the Apple+ series Servant, and as second-unit director on M. Night’s beach horror feature, Old (2021). With The Watchers, Ishana Shyamalan sets out to define herself as her own artist, while her father’s shadow,...

The enduring irony of M. Night Shyamalan’s cinema is that no matter how much he believes in the power and magic of storytelling, he nearly always struggles to spin a good yarn. The tin-eared dialogue, the crude sentimentality, and the compulsive overreliance on tension and startling-for-their-own-sake (and often tension-deflating) left turns are all part of what we’ve come to understand as distinctly Shyamalan-esque. And now, they’re present and accounted for in The Watchers, the debut feature of his daughter Ishana Night Shyamalan.
Dakota Fanning stars as Mina, an American living in Galway, Ireland, who spends her time, no doubt as a consequence of her traumatic past, donning wigs and lying to men in bars between shifts at the local pet shop. When she’s tasked with delivering a gorgeous golden conure parrot to a zoo in Belfast, Mina takes the opportunity for some time away but, when her car breaks down,...

Irish folklore and supernatural mystery collide in Ishana Shyamalan’s debut feature The Watchers, adapted for the screen by Shyamalan from A.M. Shine’s novel of the same name, The Watchers follows a group of strangers trapped in a remote Irish forest. Each night they are visited by unseen creatures who threaten to kill them all if they dare leave. It’s a strong, although familiar, premise that leaves room for endless speculation. What is watching them at night? And worse, what do they want?
In this weird world of hidden monsters and impossible situations, a group of travelers held captive rescue Mina at nightfall after her car breaks down while travelling through the countryside. Inside a building that looks like a studio apartment turned into a zoo attraction, Madeline, the group’s de facto leader, explains that she has unknowingly wandered into a trap and that there are rules...
