Originally Aake Kalliala was going to play the role of Tarmo, brother of the Grump, but he got injured about week before the second part of filming was scheduled to start in Germany and therefor Kari Väänänen took over the role and the affected scenes already filmed in Finland had to be filmed again.

Disappointing acting

This was my first movie of these 3 and my hopes were somewhat elevated thanks to the director even though Aki has always been more favoured by me.

But as soon as the familiar faces started to appear I was disappointed by the sheer acting or better, the lack of it.

The few women did best but their roles were too small to lift the movie. Maybe the characters were meant to be this dull, is probably obvious to the reader of these books. I have read whole 4 pages of the original gift book but had to quit due to the eternal repetition in it.

The storyline was ok with some earlier filmed ideas from Aki.
