Scarehouse Celebrates 20 Years of Fears: "There’s no need to fear … actually, come to think of it, there is – because the legendary haunted attraction ScareHouse, named one of the scariest haunted houses in the United States, will open its doors of doom for its 20th spine-tingling year on Saturday, Sept. 18.

The first visitors to ScareHouse screamed their way through its horrifying haunts and sinister sights and sounds in 1999 – but it’s this year that the attraction is commemorating 20 Years of Fears as a result of a scaled-down, pandemic-influenced version last season.

Tickets to ScareHouse are available beginning today at www.ScareHouse.com. ScareHouse will be open Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 1; and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 6. A Nightmare Wakes — premieres February 4

While composing her famous novel Frankenstein, Mary Shelley descends into an opium-fueled fever dream while carrying on a torrid love affair with Percy Shelley. As she writes, the characters of her novel come to life and begin to plague her relationship with Percy.

Shudder, AMC’s horror and thriller-focused streaming platform, announced a lineup of 11 films set to premiere over the next 11 weeks.

The selection of Shudder Originals coming to Shudder include Sundance Film Festival selections, as well as Tribeca Film Festival selections and a host of new content, as well. The first project to join the streaming site will be “Hunted,” a take on the Little Red Riding Hood story that is set to premiere Jan. 14.

Other movies joining Shudder hail from the genres of psychological horror to thriller, with themes exploring technology, nature, gender and betrayal. “Lucky,” coming on March 4, will detail the difficulties one woman faces after discovering that she has a stalker. And “A Nightmare Wakes” will give life to Mary Shelley in a period piece about the famous author.

The final film in the 11-week lineup is “Violation,” which both ran at Sundance and the Toronto International Film Festival.

Ah the corrupt cop narrative. A sub-genre with an impressive success rate, so often featuring a flawed antihero in the lead role, as we watch on as those employed to protect us, instead seek to destroy. This paves the way for Baran bo Odar’s unrelenting thriller Sleepless to thrive – and yet here’s a slice of contemporary cinema that adheres too stringently to the tropes of the genre at hand. Fast paced, certainly, but not actually going in any palpable direction.

Jamie Foxx plays the aforementioned cop Vincent Downs, patrolling the streets of Las Vegas, both preventing and committing crimes alongside his partner Sean (T.I.). Lionsgate has picked up worldwide rights to the comedy Flarsky starring Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen.

Jonathan Levine, whose credits include the upcoming Snatched starring Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn, will direct the Point Grey Pictures, Denver And Delilah Films and Good Universe comedy from a screenplay by Dan Sterling.

Flarsky is set to begin production in August and centres on an unemployed journalist who pursues his childhood crush, now one of the most powerful and unattainable women on earth.

Lionsgate brokered the deal with Good Universe on behalf of producers.

You can come in-and-out of this Sleepless Night remake without being weighed down by the heavy generics that plod with sluggish commitment. In 2014, actor Jamie Foxx appeared in five separate films: “Rio 2,” “”The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” “A Million Ways to Die in the West,” “Horrible Bosses 2,” and “Annie.” Fox has not appeared in a film since but has instead released his fifth R&B album “Hollywood: A Story of Dozen Roses,” and provided the voice of Jackie Robinson in the Ken Burns’ documentary on the baseball legend released earlier this year. Open Road Films has released the trailer for their upcoming film Sleepless, starring Jamie Foxx, Michelle Monaghan, Dermot Mulroney, Gabrielle Union, David Harbour, Tip "T.I." Harris, Scoot McNairy, and Octavius J. Johnson.

Sleepless stars Jamie Foxx as undercover Las Vegas police officer Vincent Downs, who is caught in a high stakes web of corrupt cops and the mob-controlled casino underground. When a heist goes wrong, a crew of homicidal gangsters kidnaps Downs’ teenage son. In one sleepless night he will have to rescue his son, evade an internal affairs investigation and bring the kidnappers to justice.

It may have taken seven episodes to get us there, but Ray Donovan finally convinced its lead character to do something interesting. Watching Ray put himself repeatedly in harm’s way (to the absolute bafflement of those he’s trying to get through) almost approaches the level of charming. Especially with the overall, off-kilter weirdness of Sully’s Boston surroundings. South by Southwest (SXSW) is just one of many film festivals, we here at Sound On Sight cover yearly. The fest, which takes place every spring in Austin, Texas, began in 1987, and has continued to grow in size every year. The fest announced the first wave of films back in early January, and the lineup included some highly anticipated films such as The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, Evil Dead, Downloaded and Spring Breakers. Now the full lineup has been announced, and it just might be one of the best lineups the festival has ever programmed.

SXSW takes place March 8-16 in Austin Texas. Here are just some of the films we are excited about.
