There’ll be no more confusion about where to stream the faith-based series “The Chosen” from now on. The show, which follows the story of Jesus through the eyes of his closest followers, has been available on a number of different streamers over the years, from mainstream services like Netflix to more niche offerings like Up Faith & Family. However, the show now has a new streaming home: Prime Video, which has signed an exclusive streaming rights deal to acquire the series and an oddly related, unscripted spinoff series.

Amazon MGM Studios has secured exclusive streaming rights for the first five seasons of The Chosen on Prime Video, along with upcoming Seasons 6 and 7. The deal with Dallas Jenkins’ 5&2 Studios also includes a theatrical rollout for feature-length episodes covering the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The partnership brings a new unscripted series, The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls, to Prime Video. This production will see Bear Grylls leading cast members on off-screen adventures as they explore personal challenges in the wilderness. The agreement also establishes a first-look series and film deal with 5&2 Studios, paving the way for additional projects centered on faith-inspired narratives.

Amazon MGM Studios and “The Chosen” producer, writer and director Dallas Jenkins’ 5&2 Studios have struck a deal to make Prime Video the exclusive streaming home of the first five seasons of the series, as well as new unscripted series “Chosen in the Wild” with Bear Grylls.

The pact also includes theatrical distribution and streaming rights for new releases about the crucifixion and the resurrection, which will be key components of the final two seasons of “The Chosen.” In addition, Amazon has signed a first-look series and film deal with 5&2 Studios.

“’The Chosen’ has had renowned success captivating audiences across generations, and we are looking forward to collaborating with Dallas and 5&2 Studios on a larger scale,” Amazon MGM Studios TV head Vernon Sanders said in a statement. “As we look ahead, we see massive opportunities to develop additional faith-inspired content for our global Prime Video customers.”

Rejoice! After years of streaming rights issues between Angel Studios and Dallas Jenkins’ 5&2 Studios, “The Chosen” has been saved by Amazon MGM Studios. In a deal with Jenkins and his production entity, Amazon MGM has picked up the streaming rights to the first five seasons of “The Chosen,” as well as the upcoming Seasons 6 and 7, all of which will be made available on Prime Video.

A new unscripted series from 5&2 called “The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls” was also picked up by Prime Video as part of the deal. Additionally, the deal includes theatrical distribution for the feature-length episodes that will be part of the next two seasons. These will be the last entries in “The Chosen” series, and as such, will cover both the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

This evening Netflix took over the town for their new reality show – Celebrity Bear Hunt. Holly Willoughby hosts this action-packed competition show that sees a group of unlikely celebrities dropped into the Central American jungle as prey for one of the world’s most fearsome predators – Bear Grylls. The biblical universe of The Chosen is expanding. Creator Dallas Jenkins has revealed several television projects in the works, including animated and unscripted series spinoffs and a three-season series following the lives of Moses and Joseph.

Jenkins announced the projects Friday at the ChosenCon fan convention in Orlando.

The Chosen Adventures is a 14-episode animated series that follows 9-year-old Abby in the Galilean city of Capernaum, circa 30 Ce. Inquisitive young Abby is bursting at the seams with questions and feels she doesn’t have the kinds of answers she’s looking for. When she and her best friend, Joshua, meet Jesus will all that change? Voice cast includes Paul Walter Hauser (Black Bird), Yvonne Orji (Insecure) and Jordin Sparks, as well as cast members from The Chosen, including Jonathan Roumie, Paras Patel, Elizabeth Tabish, Noah James, Joey Vahedi, Yasmine Al-Bustami, Brandon Potter and George H. “The Chosen” creator Dallas Jenkins has launched 5&2 Studios and has unveiled a slate of projects in the works — including an animated series, an unscripted show with Bear Grylls and a multi-season take on the story of Moses.

According to 5&2 Studios’ mission statement, the indie studio plans to “produce Bible-inspired stories through uniquely human and authentic storytelling and audience engagement.” Jenkins was set to announce the new studio and his upcoming programming plans — as well as the roll out of the final two seasons of “The Chosen” — during this weekend’s “ChosenCon” in Orlando, Fla. That two-day gathering of fans features cast members and producers behind the series, which began as a crowdfunded indie short in 2017 but since has become a global smash.

Earlier this year, an arbitrator ended the relationship between Jenkins’ The Chosen LLC and former partner Angel Studios, giving Jenkins oversight of “The Chosen” as he now builds out 5&2 Studios.
