Styx and Reo Speedwagon singer Kevin Cronin have announced a joint 2025 North American tour, featuring support from former Eagles guitarist Don Felder.
The extensive outing, dubbed “The Brotherhood of Rock Tour,” kicks off May 28th in Greenville, South Carolina, and runs through an August 24th show in Milwaukee. Along the way, the classic rock acts will hit Denver, Dallas, Toronto, Cincinnati, and plenty of other cities.

A Live Nation pre-sale starts Wednesday (December 11th) at 10 a.m. local time using the code Joy, while the general on-sale begins Friday (December 13th) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.
Interestingly, Cronin is being billed as the ‘former lead singer/songwriter” of Reo Speedwagon, following the band’s announcement earlier this year that it would cease touring after 2024 due to “irreconcilable differences” between Cronin and bassist Bruce Hall. Reo Speedwagon’s last show will be December 21st in Las Vegas.

The TCM Classic Film Festival returns to Hollywood for its 16th edition on April 24-27 with a theme that would make Jean Renoir and Styx proud: “Grand Illusions: Fantastic Worlds on Film.”
Leading up to the popular event, TCM will expand its festival footprint by presenting what it’s calling TCM Classic Film Festival: New York Pop-Up x 92Ny, in collaboration with The 92nd Street Y in Manhattan.
That one-day affair will include three programs and take place on Saturday, Jan. 25. Lineup and on-sale information will be announced later, with updates available here.
Films showcased at the four-day TCM Hollywood flagship will “include enchanted worlds of fantasy and stories beyond belief — from myths and magical creatures to ghostly encounters and travels through time,” according to a release. “The greatest achievements in cinematic imagination will be on display.”

Welcome to another episode of “Kathleen Has a Mythology Degree and Is Determined to Use It!” Today, we are going to dive into an anime beloved by many and one of my all-time favorites, Yu Yu Hakusho . This anime has it all: the supernatural, great fight scenes and what is arguably the best tournament arc in the business. It also has deep roots in various myths and religions, which we will explore a little more below. Fox Spirits Image via Wikimedia Commons Kurama, one of our main characters, is a famed bandit demon reborn to a human mother. During flashbacks, Kurama is depicted as a fox demon. Fox yokai (supernatural beings) are extremely common in tales all across Japan, and there are dozens of different kinds, each with their own mythic stories. The most common fox yokai is a kitsune , which can be divided into several subgroups. Kitsune generally have...

The latest news coverage in Hollywood has been more concerned with the resolution or escalation of the conflict between Kevin Costner and Taylor Sheridan. Despite countless interviews and statements, the rumors whispering about Costner’s apparent return (or lack thereof) to Yellowstone have occupied our every waking hour.
But even in the middle of all the chaos, it becomes harder to hide the real reason behind the audience’s fierce attachment and loyalty to the Dutton patriarch.
Yellowstone [Credit: Paramount Network]With an almost sociopathic tendency in his character’s nature and a ruthless moral compass that moves its needle only when he commands it to, Kevin Costner’s terrifying character is quick to capture the audience’s hearts, simply based on historical evidence alone. Shows with characters as instinctively evil as John Dutton have been known to attract a higher percentage of viewers, and this has remained true since the days of The Sopranos.

The Season 11 finale took place on “The Masked Singer” Wednesday, May 22. After singing their hearts out for panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong and Rita Ora, Goldfish and Gumball stood by side as host Nick Cannon announced Goldfish was the winner. Before Goldfish revealed herself, the Gumball had to take it off and turned out to be award-winning actor Scott Porter.
When Nick asked Scott, “Who knew you could do what you do?” the actor replied, “Not even me until maybe tonight. I don’t have any legitimate training. I started singing on street corners in Orlando, Florida when I was going to high school. I auditioned for two straight years for Disney and couldn’t book a role. I didn’t know I could do this until tonight, but I’m so glad I did.”

The MCU has adapted over 50 villains from the comics so far. While some, like Dar-Benn, were disappointing, others, like last year’s High Evolutionary, were executed brilliantly. Yet, there are still many more villains to introduce.
As fans eagerly anticipate characters like the Beyonder and Doctor Doom, Ranker provided an opportunity for fans to vote on 10 Marvel villains deemed too grotesque or messed up to be introduced to the MCU. Let’s take a look at the names.
10. Demogoblin
Demogoblin is one of Spider-Man’s villains. He’s a dark twist on the Green Goblin, turned into a demonic being after a deal with a demon. Demogoblin has super strength, agility, and endurance, plus can control mystical fire. While not extremely frightening, fans often prefer the classic version of the character.

Jerry Moss, who co-founded A&m Records with Herb Alpert and released top-selling albums by The Carpenters, The Police, Alpert and others, has died. He was 88.
Moss’ family said he died peacefully from natural causes Tuesday night at his home in Bel Air. “Jerry was a force of nature,” his wife, Tina Moss, said. “He lived life to the fullest.”
“I never met a nicer, more honest, sensitive, smart and talented man than my partner Jerry Moss,” Alpert said in a statement.
Moss and Alpert were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. At the 1966 Grammys, he won record of the year for co-producing “A Taste of Honey,” sharing the win with Alpert, too. Styx recorded their own version of The Beatles‘ “I Am the Walrus.” The band’s fans went wild for the cover. Subsequently, the tune inspired Styx to release an entire album of classic rock covers.
Styx covered The Beatles’ ‘I Am the Walrus’ at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival
A 2006 article from The Morning Call revealed that Styx’s “I Am the Walrus” was born out of an appearance at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2004. “We had [singer] Lawrence [Gowan] do ‘I Am the Walrus,’ which I had heard him noodle on at a sound check maybe three or four years earlier,” Styx’s James Young recalled. “I mentioned it as a suggestion, then everybody started to embrace the idea.”
The crowd loved the performance. Because of that, Styx started regularly performing “I Am the Walrus” at shows. Greg Salk of the radio station Wlup offered to play the cover on his station.

HBO's new series "The Idol" follows Lily-Rose Depp as Jocelyn, a pop star getting ready to stage her comeback. If that sounds too basic, don't worry. The series follows Jocelyn as she gets wrapped up in a cult run by Tedros Tedros, played by The Weeknd, aka Abel Tesfaye. Jocelyn's story has some real-life analogs, though the fictional pop star isn't based on any one specific singer. And as viewers get to hear Jocelyn's music for the first time, they might wonder if that's really Depp singing in the show. In fact, fans of the series may be curious about other cast members' onscreen vocals, as well.
Is Lily-Rose Depp Singing in "The Idol"?
Yes, Depp is providing Jocelyn's singing voice - and she was really nervous about it.
For her audition, Depp had to sing a cappella. She sang a minute of the song "Fever." "I thought, Here's where I don't get called back,...

Def Leppard are set to perform at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip as part of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally on August 10th, and their set will be immediately preceded by a double-daredevil stunt involving a bike jump over a high-wire act.
The event is being billed as “The Death Wire Daredevil Spectacular” and will see motorcycle Wall of Death daredevil Kyle Ives jump a motorcycle over Blake the Flying Wallenda, who will attempt one of the longest high-wire walks of his career — “The Death Wire Walk” — over the Sturgis Buffalo Chip amphitheater with no safety netting. If anyone’s capable of such a feat, it’s these two: Blake and Kyle are the descendants of extreme sports godfathers The Flying Wallenda Brothers and the Ives Brothers, respectively.

I have been tracking producer Sol Bondy since 2016 when co-production The Happiest Day in the Life of Ölli Mäki won the Un Certain Regard Grand Prize and the European Film Award for Best Debut. He and Fred Burle have been developing The Girl from Köln (aka Köln 75) with writer-director Ido Fluk, the filmmaker behind 2016 Tribeca selection The Ticket since 2019. "This project has been very close to our hearts in the last few years and we're very excited with the way it's been shaped so far," said Bondy, a Variety Producer to Watch in 2018. "It's been such a joy working with Ido on this exciting story and we're thrilled to have put an amazing team together," added Burle, Brazilian born producer who was just made a partner in One Two Films, alongside co-founders Sol Bondy and Christoph Lange. Burle joined One Two in January 2017, having graduated from the German Film and Television Academy (dffb) the previous year. He has previously worked as a film critic, at The Match Factory, and as curator of the inaugural dffb film festival. One Two Films has produced and co-produced award-winning films such as Holy Spider (Read my blog about it here), Vadim Perelman's Persian Lessons (Read my blog about it here), Jennifer Fox's Sundance breakout The Tale, Isabel Coixet's The Bookshop and Juho Kuosmanen's The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki.Other titles in the pipeline include Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurdsson's dark comedy Northern Comfort, which premieres in SXSW later this month, Annemarie Jacir's survival drama The Oblivion Theory, Sarah Arnold's debut feature Wild Encounters and Michiel ten Horn's romantic comedy Any Other Night. In Berlin this year it was announced that Bankside would be The Girl from Köln's international sales agent and was launching sales. Alamode Film already has German-speaking territories and is a coproducer, who have very recently secured funding through the Fff, the local fund in Bavaria. It is in early pre-production and will shoot this year in Poland and Germany. The Girl from Köln tells the little-known story of Vera Brandes, who, in 1975, at the age of 17, staged the famous Köln Concert by jazz musician Keith Jarrett, which became the top-selling jazz solo album of all time. With Polish Film Institute backing, Oscar-winning Polish producer Ewa Puszczynska (Ida, Cold War) of Extreme Emotions is co-producing along with Annegret Weitkämper-Krug of Germany's Gretchenfilm (Seneca). Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Oren Moverman (Love & Mercy, Bad Education) serves as executive producer. Moverman also produced Fluk's previous feature, The Ticket. The Tale writer-director Jennifer Fox also serves as executive producer. Stephen Kelliher and Sophie Green executive produce for Bankside. It stars Mala Emde (Skin Deep, And Tomorrow the Entire World) in the lead role, alongside John Magaro (Past Lives) as Jarrett. Magaro was also in Cannes last year with Kelly Reichardt's competition title Showing Up.Other cast attached include Alexander Scheer (Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush), Ulrich Tukur (The Life of Others), Susanne Wolff (Sisi & I, Styx), Jördis Triebel (Dark), Jan Bülow (Lindenberg) and Marie-Lou Sellem (Tar, Exit Marrakesh). The NYU-graduate Fluk was dubbed "a talent to watch" by Variety following his feature debut Never Too Late, the first crowd-sourced Israeli film ever made. His American debut, the Tribeca competition selection, The Ticket, starred Dan Stevens and Malin Akerman. Upcoming projects include 24 Hours in June, a retelling of the final day in the life of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg who were convicted of spying on behalf of the Soviet Union, to be produced by Academy Award winner James Schamus (Brokeback Mountain) and Joe Pirro (Driveways). Fluk is repped by Amotz Zakai, Amy Schiffman, and Kegan Schell at Echo Lake Entertainment. He is also created the recently-announced HBO series Empty Mansions for Fremantle with director Joe Wright (Atonement, Darkest Hour) attached to direct the pilot. "From the moment I heard Vera's story, about how as a high school teenager she organized one of the greatest concerts in history, I knew her story had to be told," said Fluk. "We were immediately exhilarated by Vera Brandes' remarkable female empowerment story. Her strength, courage and sheer belief in herself and the music of Keith Jarrett will entertain and inspire audiences around the world," added Kelliher.

Atlantis series 2 is a darker, more action-packed beast, and here's the trailer to prove it...
"The Gods have spoken. A new dawn is beginning."
The BBC is certainly not messing around with this new Atlantis series 2 trailer, which features more fights, action and explosions than you can shake several sticks at (or, ha, perhaps that should be Styx? Er, no, it shouldn't be. Sorry).
The new run of the Howard Overman-penned Greek myth drama promises to be a reborn show that lives up to its half-eight timeslot, with all the villainy, stabbing and twisty betrayal that involves.
The new series welcomes the arrival of Medea (Amy Manson), and the pleasing prospect of Princess Ariadne getting out of the palace for once and showing some ruffians who's boss, Katniss-style. Oh, and there's also a bit of snogging by the looks of things too.

What do Sam and Dean do when their best witness in a case is a big, fluffy German Shepherd named The Colonel? Well, in the past, they would have been up a creek. But, these days, they’re armed with all sorts of Men of Letters tricks so, naturally, they found a way to talk to the dog.
In this case, it was Dean who took the hit and drank a hairy potion so he could communicate with animals, and the side effects were nothing short of hilarious.
Among them? He barked at the mail man, had this strange urge...

Supernatural returned for its eighth season with flashbacks, purgatory hatchets, a few laughs and a very secretive, paranoid Dean (Jensen Ackles). Don’t worry Dean fans – the eldest Winchester brother hasn’t changed too much, he still enjoys burgers and fries.
Season 8 began one year after Dean disappeared. Covered in blood, he emerged out of purgatory at a couple’s campsite, with a strange hatchet in his left hand and a gun in his right. Dean was also harboring a demon, who helped him escape from purgatory, in his left arm. The mystery behind their allegiance will take us through Supernatural’s mid-season finale. “Man in the Wilderness” from Styx was the song that ushered in Dean’s return.
Most of the premiere was spent catching us up to speed on what took place over the last year.
“Most days felt like 360 degree combat.” – Dean

Hey folks, Mabel here, filling in for Vini B who normally does AfterElton’s Supernatural recaps. She’ll be back on duty next week.
The show kicks off with Dean’s return from purgatory. He appears in the woods in a flash of light and crashes in on a teenage couple’s camping trip. Either he’s covered in blood and ectoplasm or he’s stumbled into their pot of baked beans.
He steals their knapsack – which they really should have had tied up in a tree so bears couldn’t get to it. Then he finds the road and hitches a ride, all to the tune to some seventies angsty Styx song.
After the travel montage he winds up in another part of the forest digging a hole in the ground. He unearths a dessicated skeleton and then rolls up his sleeve to reveal a nasty glowing red bump on his forearm.

Supernatural has a new showrunner, Jeremy Carver, returning to the show after some time away helming Syfy’s Being Human, and it looks like he is working to strike a balance between giving fans something fresh and staying close to the show’s roots. Supernatural wouldn’t be the same without classic rock, and tonight’s season 8 opener delivered on that musical note straight away with Styx’s “Man In The Wilderness.” Tommy Shaw croons in the 1977 song, “Another year has passed me by / … What kind of man have I become?”
Indeed, that’s the question Sam and Dean will...

Geek Girl Navigating the World – Supernatural will top my list for a long, long time
I am kind of a TV junkie. I’ll admit that. There are several shows that I watch frequently and have a tendency to recommend to anyone who’ll hold still long enough to express even the barest hint of interest. There are also several shows that I have purchased in their entirety on DVD. For a long time, if I were asked what my favorite show was, I wouldn’t have been able to name one.
That all changed in 2005. I considered the WB to be a haven for soapy and fairly ridiculous teen-drama fair after they’d pretty much abolished and animation line-up that I’d loved to watch. There was a new show premiering, though, that looked promising. As a sci-fi/fantasy fan, the lack of anything to take the place of “The X-Files” was disconcerting.

Well, it's the day after a three-day holiday weekend, one during which I drank tequila, sang Styx during karaoke and swam -- fully clothed -- in the Tennessee River in the middle of the night. I'm taking it easy today, looking back at the most memorable scenes/episodes/character developments from my DVR queue this past TV season.
From musical numbers to murders, this was a good year for TV. If we can count last summer's fare, I'd put several of "True Blood's" gruesome and head-twisting antics up there in terms of memory staying-power. Or how about "The Walking Dead's" premiere? And with present shows, the opening sequence of "Game of Thrones" scared the ever-living daylights out of me, and the premiere of "The Killing" was spot-on.
In no particular order, here are nine of my picks for stand-out TV.

After last weekend’s open casting call for the leading male role in “Rock of Ages,” Mexican actor and singer Diego Gonzalez Boneta is in talks to join the production. According to TheWrap, no official offer has been made at this time. Boneta would play the lead role of Drew Boley, a singer-guitarist described as “the nicest aspiring rocker you’ll find in the Bourbon Room.” The 20-year-old singer-actor has starred in American productions including television shows “Pretty Little Liars,” and “90210.” His most recent film was “Mean Girls 2.” In 2005, he recorded his first self-titled debut Spanish album. A year later, his album was recorded in Portuguese, which sold over 100,000 copies in Brazil alone. His album will be released in the United States later this month. “Rock of Ages” film is the adaptation of the Broadway musical. The musical is built around classic rock hits from the 1980s, particularly with...

The latest film from the Farrelly Brothers since 2007's The Heartbreak Kid, Hall Pass stars Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis as sex-obsessed best friends whose wives (Jenna Fischer and Christina Applegate) grant them a week of bachelorhood freedom and, uh, hilarity ensues? Hopefully. And hopefully the Farrellys can return to the glory days of Dumb and Dumber and There's Something About Mary, because it's been a while. They should have no problem attracting the frat crowd, with hot chicks such as the now-thirty-eight-year-old Alyssa Milano, pot brownies, and massage parlors galore. If flubbed pick-up lines and spankin' it to Styx are your cup of tea, this is your [...]...

Music has always been one of the most important supporting characters on "Supernatural." We'd put it right up there with Castiel, Bobby, and the Impala. In fact, one draft of the pilot script described the soundtrack as so: "Cue Music. And you can take your anemic alternative pop and shove it up your ass. We're playing Dean's music-- adrenaline pumping Metal-- and we're playing it loud."
The draft also called our heroes Sam and Dean Harrison, which just doesn't have the same ring to it, but we digress.
The first couple of seasons of the show featured songs like "Renegade" by Styx, "Back in Black" by AC/DC, and "Laugh, I Nearly Died" by the Rolling Stones, but the classic rock has been less prevalent in more recent episodes. Zap2it was On the Scene at the Creation Entertainment Salute to Supernatural Event in Los Angeles when series star Jensen Ackles addressed fans' concerns.

Tom Cruise is in the final stages of negotiations to co-star in Rock of Ages, New Line’s adaptation of the hit musical about 1980s rockers.
THR reports this morning that Tom Cruise is close to signing a deal with the Rock of Ages film producers to act as Stacee Jaxx. It is expected that Cruise’s character will perform Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive.” Other stars in talks for the film include Gwyneth Paltrow, Alec Baldwin as Dennis Dupree, Mary J. Blige and Russel Brand. The movie will be directed by Adam Shankman and is being modyfied for the big-screen by its stage scribe, Chris D’Arienzo.
The musical that ‘ignited a generation’ is featuring songs from Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry and Poison, among other well-known rock bands. The show is noted for being more cheerful and comedic than other shows on Broadway.

"You know what all my protesting accomplished in the '60s at Berkeley? 16 scars on my head from a teargas canister." -- Mr. Rosso
Three storylines run through "The Little Things": the impending arrival of Vice President George H.W. Bush at McKinley (and the possibility that Lindsay might get to ask him a question), Sam's growing dissatisfaction with his relationship with Cindy Sanders, and the revelation that Ken's girlfriend Amy (Jessica Campbell) was born with both male and female genitalia. If you’ve ever brushed off "Supernatural" as just another teenybopper WB show with a couple of pretty boys, you’re seriously missing out on one of the most sharply written, balls-to-the-wall genre shows around. In fact, it’s long surpassed the quality of its forefathers – former TV greats like "The X-Files" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" – for several reasons: While those shows lost momentum over time, "Supernatural" has gotten consistently better with every season.
Sure, teenage girls love it for the eye candy (better this than Twilight!), but the show’s heart is aimed right at horror purists with its complex apocalyptic mythology, geek in-jokes and twisted black humor. And we’d be remiss to not mention the soundtrack, which assembles the greatest collection of classic rock and metal the world has ever known!
While Season Five closed the book perfectly, we at Dread Central can’t help but miss the Winchester boys.

Music is inextricably linked to Sofia Coppola's career. Her first film, the short Bed, Bath and Beyond was written by Ione Skye, the actress who was once married to Beastie Boys' Adam Horovitz and is now married to rocker Ben Lee. Her second short, Like the Star, kicked off with The Amps' Tipp City. Once she jumped into feature work, her films were littered with memorable soundtracks intermingling the old, the popular, the rare, and the new.
The Virgin Suicides mixed Sloan and Todd Rundgren with Heart and Styx. Lost In Translation opted for a mix of hard-hitting crassness like Peaches' "F**k the Pain Away" with the gentle whisper of Air's "Alone in Kyoto." Even when Marie Antoinette detailed a whole different world, the sountrack boasted Aphex Twin, Bow Wow Wow, and The Cure.
Now she's back with Somewhere, and the soundtrack is sure to please once again.

Earlier this month, we sat down with NCIS’ Michael Weatherly to chat about his contract negotiations (he was confident he’ll return for season 8, though no deal has yet been announced) and the show’s season 7 finale (May 25). Pressing him for spoilers over a martini, we soon realized, was futile. So, we administered an EW Pop Culture Personality Test, which the actor who plays film buff Tony Dinozzo more than aced. One note: Weatherly got an assist from his doctor wife, Bojana Jankovic, who joined us for our chat and learned a few things she hadn’t known about her husband.

Oh, Three Rivers, we barely knew ya. And now, well, you’re gone — or, at the very least, gone for a while. CBS has put Kate Moennig’s new medical drama on hiatus and pulled indefinitely from its upcoming schedule.
Does this mean Three Rivers is headed for slow ride down the River Styx? (Too obscure? Whatever, the loss of Kate from TV is sort of mythological.) Well, maybe. While the show hasn’t been officially canceled, the ratings through its first eight episodes weren’t stellar. This all-too often leads to a permanent vacation (think Dollhouse being pulled for November sweeps and then canceled).
The series has gone through a lot of retooling and rescheduling during its short run. Julia Ormond was replaced by four-time Emmy winner Alfre Woodard as the show’s head of surgery. The pilot was swapped with its second episode as the show’s premiere.
