Shaleen Sangha began writing and directing at the age of nine when she
staged a play in front of her grade four class, using her classmates as
actors. She has continued to have this kind of passion and dedication
to storytelling throughout her life. Her progression into filmmaking
began in Highschool where she began receiving honors for her short
films. Shaleen went on to study film at Humber College where she wrote
her award-winning short screenplay "Sohni Sapna (Beautiful Dream)". The
screenplay, meant to be her thesis project, caught the attention of
"Bollywood/Hollywood" co-star Jazz Mann who jumped on board to produce
and brought with him veteran composer Mychael Danna ("Monsoon Wedding")
to do the score. Shaleen's films combine lush, visual images with
complex and emotional stories. She continues to write and is currently
writing a feature screenplay and has several short scripts ready to be
produced.
