John Turturro is planning to adapt Philip Roth’s 1995 novel Sabbath’s Theater for film, having starred in a stage version he also co-wrote last year.
Speaking at Sarajevo Film Festival last week, Turturro said of his upcoming projects, “I have a couple of things I’m trying to do and get the right cast and funding for. We’ll see which one happens first.”
Turturro then spoke about Roth’s novel, about the exploits of a former puppeteer who takes pleasure in manipulating the people around him. Turturro adapted the book for stage with Ariel Levy, and played the...

New details have emerged about Alex Van Halen’s upcoming memoir, Brothers, which is set to hit shelves on October 22nd (pre-order here).
We recently reported on a listing for the memoir on publisher HarperCollins’ website. At the time, little was known about the book other than the release date and that it is 384 pages in length.
A listing on the official Van Halen Store website has now revealed further info about Brothers, which is described a “love letter” to Alex’s younger brother, the late guitar god Eddie Van Halen, and that it was written alongside New Yorker writer Ariel Levy. The cover artwork can also now be seen below.
The official description on the Van Halen store website reads:
“In his rough yet sweet voice, Alex recounts the brothers’ childhood, first in the Netherlands and then in working-class Pasadena, California, with an itinerant musician father and a very...

For 24 years, The New Yorker has leaned on the talents of actors, writers, and others from the world of Hollywood to be a part of its annual New Yorker Festival, which will be held this year Oct. 6-8.
The ongoing Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes have thrown a wrench in many plans that have traditionally relied on Hollywood talent, but the festival will go on, New Yorker editor David Remnick tells The Hollywood Reporter. And there will still be plenty of star power.
The New Yorker, of course, is not owned by a struck company, but SAG has advised its members not to promote projects from studios that have not signed interim agreements, and the Condé Nast-owned publication has had to adapt accordingly: “We faced a challenge or two,” Remnick says.

Welcome to this week’s review of Aew: Dynamite, which was broadcast live from the Fla Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida. We’ve got Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz on commentary so let’s get into the review!
Match #1: Aew International Championship Match – Orange Cassidy def.. Bandido The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:
Bandido and Cassidy chain wrestled in a great exchange in the early goings of the match. Cassidy connected with a hurracanrana (with his hands in his pockets) and followed up with a dropkick to Bandido. Bandido caught Cassidy, who was attempting for a tope. Bandido dropped Orange throat-first across the guardrail. Bandido drove his shoulder into Orange’s midsection. Bandido applied a stretch muffler to Orange Cassidy. Cassidy managed to crawl to the ropes to force the ref break. Bandido flew over the top rope with a tope con hiro. Back in the ring, Bandido chopped at Cassidy’s chest.

Another week, another episode of Aew: Dark which this week features seven matches. Let’s see what went down…
Match #1: Juice Robinson def. Pat Buck
My Thoughts: Pat Buck, back in the ring? Yes, the man who’s spent most of the recent years behind the scenes in both Aew and previously WWE, gets in front of the camera for a match against Bullet Club Gold’s Juice Robinson and big things were, honestly, expected. Yet whilst it was a solid match it didn’t set the world on fire. Great opener for Dark though!
My Score: 3 out of 5 Match #2: The Renegades def. Kiah Dream & Brittany J
My Thoughts: What a surprise, the Renegades face enhancement talent and get a quick, decisive, squash match win. But when they’re the enhancement talent? The same happens to them! I get a steady job is good in the wider “indie...

For most of her acting career, Pamela Adlon was best known for her voice, even though she rarely felt like she had one of her own.
Adlon, née Segall, entered the family business as a teenager — her father Don Segall was a sitcom writer — mostly shuffling around in small TV roles in the Eighties before finding a niche in the Nineties as a voice actor, most famously as middle schooler Bobby Hill on King of the Hill. She worked a lot but rarely felt secure in her career prospects or her level of artistry.

Welcome to this week’s review of Aew Dark: Elevation, which features eight matches in less than an hour… now that’s how you keep folks interested, a stacked card and a fast pace! Speaking of pace, let’s get right into the review.
Match #1: Trios Match – Tay Conti, Anna Jay and Red Velvet def. Freya States, Angelica Risk, and Arie Alexander
My Thoughts: This was your typical Aew quasi-squash match only this time in a Trios format. Tay Conti looked strong on the outset until Freya States was tagged in… Speaking of whom, States looks formidable in the ring in terms of height against the other women in this match. She’d be a great addition to the women’s roster Imho, sitting somewhere between Aew’s smaller women and the powerhouses like Nyla Rose and Abadon. I’m hoping we see more from her going forward.

From hosting a podcast about Jeffrey Epstein to ghostwriting for one of Hollywood’s most famous, the journalist reflects on life after her ‘trial by fire’
Ariel Levy wrote one of October’s top bestselling books in the Us, but you may not know it. After all, her name is not on the cover.

“Blood will tear us apart.”
Eli Roth means many things to many people. Some see him as one of the saviours of modern horror. Some see him as a detriment to the genre. For me personally, I think he’s a fantastic director. Cabin Fever knew exactly what it was and had horrible things happening to purposefully unlikable characters. Hostel played a part in bringing shock and gore to the unprepared mainstream audience and Hostel 2 was in a lot of ways a love letter to Italian exploitation of the 70′s and 80′s. That being said, 2015 hasn’t been a good year for him in terms of directorial output. I was so excited for both The Green Inferno and Knock Knock, but found both films to be Roth at his worst.

“No good deed goes unpunished.” Unless of course your good deed was waiting patiently for The Green Inferno to find distribution. I cannot tell you how excited I was to attend a screening last week and I was more than ready for possibly more gore than my stomach could handle.
In the film, Lorenza Izzo plays wide-eyed college freshman Justine, the daughter of a U.N. Ambassador and a young woman trying to find her place among international issues, protests, and hunger strikes. While roommate Kaycee (Sky Ferreira) is hip to the Bs surrounding the campus’ humanitarian group, Justine feels drawn to it. After being “shamed” at a group meeting for making a joke—shame being a common tool used among slacktivists—Justine can’t help but demand to participate in the group’s trip to the Peruvian jungle to protest the de-forestation and possible extermination of a local tribe.

This weekend, the long wait is finally over for fans as Eli Roth’s grizzly tale of cannibal horror, The Green Inferno, is set to arrive in theaters courtesy of Bh Tilt. Starring Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton and Sky Ferreira, the film follows a group of activists into the jungles of the Amazon where, after a horrific plane crash, the group is attacked and taken hostage by a clan of cannibals who have no intention of letting the intruders get away alive.
During a recent press day, Daily Dead caught up with both Roth and Izzo and heard from the pair on their experiences working on The Green Inferno, collaborating with real-life tribespeople who had no knowledge of the outside world, the tough road of getting the film distributed after some controversy, and how the fans are really the ones who made The Green Inferno...

The Green Inferno is a slacktivist’s nightmare filled with cannibal gore, smoked meats, and red-tinted natives, but more importantly, it marks Eli Roth’s return to directing since Hostel: Part II (2007). It’s been too long since we’ve been been treated to the torturous delights that Roth continually cooks up for his always-doomed characters, and while there’s certainly no shortage of bodily dismemberment in The Green Inferno, Roth first asks his audience a question – what issues keep you awake at night? This is, after all, a movie about the best of intentions going Horribly awry, yet Roth first tries to drum up our inner humanitarian by asking what we care about the most. Is it saving an endangered species? Whales, perhaps? Or banning fatty cafeteria lunches? Whatever the case, there’s a momentary sincerity where Roth actually wants to challenge our minds before answering that question himself.

The student activists in Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno came to the rainforest with hopes of saving it, but upon their rocky arrival, they must instead save themselves from torturous pain, as shown in a new, extremely Nsfw red band clip from the film.
"Bh Tilt, Blumhouse Productions’ label dedicated to creating tailored distribution strategies for genre films, will release Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno on September 25, 2015 in collaboration with Universal Pictures and High Top Releasing, a label dedicated to servicing high quality movies using Focus Features’ distribution capabilities. We're less than one month away from the theatrical release of Eli Roth's The Green Inferno, and Crypt TV is setting the mood with a new episode of Drug Deals that gives a whole new meaning to the munchies, as well as a game of "would you rather" that forces Brittany Furlan to choose between a number of painful scenarios.
Directed by Eli Roth from a screenplay he co-wrote with Guillermo Amoedo, The Green Inferno comes out in theaters on September 25th from Bh Tilt. The Green Inferno stars Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Sky Ferreira, Daryl Sabara, and Aaron Burns.
"How far would you go for a cause you believe in? In Eli Roth’s terrifying new film, The Green Inferno, a group of college students take their humanitarian protest from New York to the Amazon jungle only to be taken prisoner by the indigenous tribe they came to save.

The Green Inferno Movie Images Have Been Released. Eli Roth‘s The Green Inferno (2013) is closer than ever to actually being screened for audiences, as the official release of September 25th, 2015, is just around the corner. I’m extremely excited for this film, possibly overly joyous, but everything released so far has just maintained or raised my expectations. This will be so satisfying, I can taste it in my spit.
Bh Tilt, the production company behind this, has released a pair of new movie stills from the film, and as I mentioned earlier – my interest is still high, and nothing has changed.
The story revolves around idealistic young college graduates traveling to the amazon in order to ‘do good’, ‘protect the environment’, and ‘save the rainforest’. Of course, they’re welcomed a bit differently than they anticipated, and things go horribly, terrifyingly, deliciously wrong. It’s an homage to Cannibal Holocaust (1980) by Eli Roth,...

The Green Inferno Trailer 3 Has Been Released. Eli Roth‘s The Green Inferno (2015) movie trailer 3 stars Lorenza Izzo and Richard Burgi. The Green Inferno‘s plot synopsis: “A group of student activists travels to the Amazon to save the rain forest and soon discover that they are not alone, and that no good deed goes unpunished.”
There’s a new trailer for Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno, which I thought of as a clip, at first. This is now the third trailer for Roth’s latest, much anticipated exploitation movie. The film has been shelved for quite a long time now, even IMDb lists this as 2013. What we do know, officially, is that this was supposed to be released last year, but studio interference/scheduling conflicts delayed this until now. This September, we’re getting Roth’s homage to Cannibal Holocaust, with some of his critique of westernized/American superiority sprinkled in.

The Stranger comes to us as the latest vampire film to never admit it’s Actually a vampire film, because labeling yourself as a “vampire movie” just isn’t cool anymore. I’m sorry – if your character hates the sun, drinks blood and is immortal, he or she is a vampire. Deal with it.
While filmmaker Guillermo Amoedo proves to have a keen cinematic eye, this nightmarish infection thriller ends up being a big ol’ bowl of Meh. Presented by horror maestro Eli Roth, this Chilean thriller does have the atmospheric chills of a good mysterious-drifter-fueled caper, but some transitional techniques struggle to make Amoedo’s work flow seamlessly for international audiences. It’s a shame when audio dubbing reflects negatively on a cinematic watch, and while it’s something we try to ignore, one can’t help but be taken out of the fantasy on screen by voices that clearly don’t belong.

Lena Dunham is returning to films. Starting out on the usual path as an indie filmmaker with such SXSW breakouts as "Tiny Furniture," Dunham took the HBO series route with "Girls," executive produced by Judd Apatow and Jenni Konner. Her memoir "Not that Kind of Girl" is flying off shelves. At the New Yorker Festival this weekend, she announced that she will adapt for the big screen Karen Cushman’s 1994 coming-of-age novel “Catherine, Called Birdy," which she's been obsessed with since she was a kid, she told The New Yorker's Ariel Levy. The period story is about a 12-year-old who gets her period and is immediately deemed marriage material. “I’m going to adapt it and hopefully direct it,” Dunham said. “I just need to find someone who wants to fund a PG-13 Medieval movie.” Dunham's A Casual Romance production company partner Konner is developing the film with her, along...

A rumor has been swirling around the Internet this weekend that Troma would be releasing Eli Roth's The Green Inferno (review) after the studio posted about it on its social media pages. Knowing this was highly unlikely, we reached out to Roth and can now confirm this is Not happening.
Earlier this month financier Worldview Entertainment balked at ex-ceo Christopher Woodrow’s commitment to provide the P&A (promotion and advertising) for the film. Open Road confirmed that the release date was scratched but had no further comment.
Apparently Worldview has been going through a restructure since Woodrow's abrupt and largely unexplained exit, and the company, now run by Molly Conners, put a freeze on all of his commitments and is scrutinizing every deal that was made. Green Inferno has been caught in that snare.
Director Roth previously tweeted the news as well, explaining, "Everyone is working to solve this Asap.
