Horror director Mark Savage has been attached to the upcoming Circus of Dread. Other attachments include Bill Oberst Jr. (seen left) and Domiziano Arcangeli; both actors will star in this feature, which is inspired by Tod Browning's 1932 film, Freaks. The story follows two brothers into a demented carnival. Here hell awaits them.
Also hellish are actor Bill Oberst Jr.'s comments on the film and its content: "Mark Savage's script is brutal, explicit and disturbing; yet it is a story of salvation. I'm convinced that if Mark can film what he has written, Circus Of Dread will be a film that fans of horror and of artistic cinema will be talking about for decades." Oberst recently made a showing in Michael Emanuel's Scary or Die. Domiziano Arcangeli might be best remembered for his role as in Domiziano Christopharo's House of Flesh Mannequins. Both actors have a long history in horror filmmaking.

I can't help it, I'm a sucker for intriguing key art that coincides with a horror film (or any movie for that matter). Many films have been overlooked simply because the graphic art totally sucks. This is not one of those cases (as you can see by the creepy poster we've got for you to feast your eyes on).
On May 1st, Phase 4 Films will reportedly be unleashing a flesh eating clown among other scary visuals, as the release of Scary or Die hits VOD.
Scary or Die stars horror genre actor Bill Oberst Jr. (Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies, Dismal, Scare Tactics), Corbin Bleu (Galaxy Quest), and Nikki Moore (Sorority Row), and is directed by Bob Badway, Michael Emanuel, and Igor Meglic.
Check out the teaser trailer below the official details below as well as the large version of the Scary Or Die poster.

Bill Oberst Jr. is the definition of “the horror actor”, the working actor doesn’t prefer anything outside of the horror genre and wouldn’t have it any other way. Oberst has some cool projects in the works including Vivid and Legend of the Red Reaper, he shares some stories about working on True Blood and MTV’s upcoming horror series Death Valley. The actor keeps busy for sure! Check out my latest Versus with Bill Oberst Jr. to learn more about this hard working cool actor.
Brian S- First off you've really been cranking out film projects since 2007. How'd you get into acting?
Bill Oberst Jr.- I was a bizarre-looking kid who loved monsters and the other kids made fun of me. I learned a useful equation: "If You Entertain People, They Will Not Hit You." So my whole career has pretty much been about trying to get people not to hit me.

Mid-July is going to be a good time for DVD and Blu-ray releases featuring people getting eaten alive. Dinocroc and Supergator take time out between rounds to devour anyone in their path. Native American lycan legends go on the prowl in Maneater and Monster Wolf. Most importantly, the Australian Open Water-ish shark thriller The Reef finally surfaces on American shores.
The people chomping begins on July 12th when Anchor Bay releases the Roger Corman produced, Jim Wynorski directed, Syfy original creature feature Dinocroc vs. Supergator (review here). The late David Carradine makes one of his final appearances in this monstrous smackdown that sees genetically engineered reptilian rivals escaping their confines and chomping their way through a series of scientists, tourists, and bikini babes in Hawaii. The actors chew the scenery almost as much as the monsters.

Writer/producer/director Michael Emanuel dropped us a line today to let us know production has wrapped on the upcoming horror omnibus thriller titled Terror Bytes. High School Musical's Corbin Bleu is co-producing and appears in one of the film's segments, marking the star's first foray into the horror genre.
Synopsis:
With Korean vampires, Mexican zombies, Cajun conjurers, and the Irish undead...or as the producers like to call it, “just another night in the City of Angels”, Terror Bytes tells four multi-ethnic, interwoven stories that all take place in and around Los Angeles. According to Emanuel, “It’s the horror version of Robert Altman’s Short Cuts as characters from each segment intersect with the others.”
Corbin Bleu’s segment, titled "Clowned", tells the story of a young street hustler (Bleu) who gets bitten by a clown at a birthday party and begins to undergo a Kafkaesque metamorphosis with horrifying consequences.

The first trailer dropped for Michael Emanuel's spiritual creature-feature based on the Algonquian Wendigo myth and I'm still trying to figure out if it'll be worth tracking down when it finally arrives. It looks like it's well made and full of some decent creature scares, but the way the promo's cobbled together just isn't doing it any favors.
Synopsis:
A former FBI profiler, now a sheriff of a small town and a single parent of a high school aged daughter, begins to profile a series of unexplained murders only to learn that the monster he's profiling may be himself.
Maneater stars a decent cast in Dean Cain, Conrad Janis ("The Cable Guy"), Stephen Lunsford, Walter Phelan ("House of 1000 Corpses"), Maximillian Roeg and Lacy Phillips ("Pushing Twilight").
Trailer after the break.
Embedded video stripped, see full HTML version.

IFC Films gave Fango the scoop that it has picked up writer/director Bob Badway’s The Uninvited (no relation to the DreamWorks supernatural frightfest from earlier this year), and passed on a new exclusive photo, which you can see below. Previously announced as a DVD release by another company, the movie will now debut as a video-on-demand title this summer.
Produced by Michael Emanuel, The Uninvited stars Marguerite Moreau as a woman who believes she’s been cured of her crippling childhood terror of open spaces. Strange events in the new house she has moved into with her husband (former Men at Work frontman Colin Hay), however, bring that fear back to the surface.
The film will be available starting July 8 via the following providers:

A new indie film we've been keeping an eye on as of late is Maneater, which we broke the news on here this past July. This morning the first image from Michael Emanuel's film appeared online and features a look at the Windigo monster in the film, which tells the story of an FBI profiler-turned-small-town sheriff who begins investigating a series of mysterious murders only to discover that the monster he's profiling might be himself. Dean Cain, Conrad Janis, Stephen Lunsford, Walter Phelan, Maximillian Roeg and Lacy Phillips all star. The creature was created by Jason (Albino Farm) Barnett and Bill Fesh.

The Hollywood Reporter announced this morning that Canal Street's upcoming horror flick Maneater (nothing to do with the straight to DVD / cable Maneater series) has just cast six actors for the film's leading roles! You know things are askew in Hollywood when Dean Cain joining a film warrants a mention in The Hollywood Reporter. I don’t really know how it’s possible, but for some reason the fact that Cain has signed on for Michael Emanuel’s Maneater is trade-worth information...
Maneater follows a former FBI profiler, now a small town sheriff, who begins to look into a series of murders derived from a local Native American legend. He soon discovers that the monster responsible may be himself.
Conrad Jenis (The Cable Guy), Walter Phalen (House of 1000 Corpses), Lacy Phillips (Pushing Twilight) and Stephen Lunsford will be joining Cain in Emanuel’s directorial debut. This is the second of ten planned independently financed films from Canal Street, the first being The Uninvited, which features most of the same cast.

Michael Emanuel ("ER") has teamed up with "Guilty or Innocent?" scribe John K. Anderson to tackle an old Native American legend we don't see too much of in films today, the Wendigo!
According to THR, Mr. Emanuel will also be making this project, titled Maneater, his first directorial effort in conjunction with Canal Street Films. Maneater follows the path of a former FBI profiler who is making ends meet as a sheriff in a small town. While investigating a rash of murders, the lawman uncovers that the very thing committing these atrocities may in fact be himself!
Michael Emanuel explained his influence for the film's subject, which came about some 30+ years ago, "It's a story that was told to me by an old Native American back in the late '70s. It's based on the Western Ojibwa (Chippewa) legend of the Wendigo."

Miller revs up for motocross
Penelope Ann Miller has joined High School Musical star Corbin Bleu in Rigel Entertainment's motocross action-drama movie Free Style.
Previously titled Metal Birding, the film, which began lensing in November in Vancouver, also has a new director in William Dear, who replaced Jeff Woolnough (Taken, Battlestar Galactica). No reason was cited by Rigel for the change.
Additionally, real-life motocross star Grant Langston and Sandra Echeverria have joined the cast, which includes Matt Bellefleur and Madison Pettis.
The coming-of-age story centers on a young motocross racer (Bleu) who aspires to win the Amateur National Championships while struggling to support his family.
Miller will play Jeannette, a single working mom to one of the teenage racers who strives to provide for her family while studying full-time to become a nurse.
Langston guest stars as the racing champion that Bleu's character and his rival (Bellefleur) looks up to. Echeverria will play Bleu's girlfriend.
Rigel is producing in association with Up North Entertainment. Executive producing is Rigel's John F.S. Laing and David Doerksen, Jim O'Grady of Waterfront Pictures and Michael Emanuel of Canal Street Films.
