Zendaya and Dua Lipa channelled their inner ‘Dark Lady’ on the red carpet as Cher was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio. Lipa joined the pop music legend in a performance of her 1998 single ‘Believe’, and Zendaya took the stage for her induction, which airs Jan. 1 on ABC.

“Where do I even begin? Cher is not one person. Her name is just as legendary as her legacy,” said the Euphoria star, adding: “Cher has got the goods.”

The 39th annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony turned Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio, into a “celebration” Saturday night as Kool & the Gang, Dave Matthews Band, Mary J. Blige, A Tribe Called Quest and Cher showed up to accept inductions from Chuck D, Julia Roberts, Method Man, Dr. Dre, Dave Chappelle and Zendaya.

The event returned to the hometown of the Rock & Roll Museum for the first time since 2021. This year’s top music-industry honor in the performer category went to Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang, Ozzy Osbourne and A Tribe Called Quest. Musical Excellence Award honorees included Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick and Norman Whitfield; Alexis Korner, John Mayall and Big Mama Thornton received the Musical Influence Award. Motown executive Suzanne de Passe received the Ahmet Ertegun Award — the fifth woman to accept the accolade.

On Saturday, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inducted Ozzy Osbourne as a solo artist. It was the second time the institution recognized the singer, following his induction as a member of Black Sabbath in 2006.

The honor was long overdue. Osbourne made one of rock’s most incredible comebacks after Black Sabbath fired him in 1979. With the help of guitarist Randy Rhoads, who was posthumously inducted into the Hall in 2021, he recorded energetic, almost gothic rockers like “Crazy Train,” “Mr. Crowley,” and “Flying High Again” that helped him eclipse Sabbath’s career commercially.

How do you induct the Prince of Darkness into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? With an all-star celebration. On Saturday night, Billy Idol, Jelly Roll, and Tool frontman Maynard Keenan gathered to sing songs from throughout Ozzy Osbourne’s solo career.

After Osbourne himself kicked things off by bellowing the words, “All aboard,” the tribute started with “Crazy Train,” with Wolfgang Van Halen playing a ripping solo as Keenan took on the vocals. Jelly Roll stepped up next, singing Osbourne’s iconic power ballad “Mama, I’m Coming Home.

Ozzy Osbourne was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday night (October 19th) in Cleveland with a rousing and highly entertaining speech by Jack Black. The Prince of Darkness was also honored with a three-song performance fronted by Maynard James Keenan, Jelly Roll, and Billy Idol.

Jack Black gave an all-time Rock Hall speech, with his face turning beet red as he hilariously screamed his way through a highly animated rundown of Ozzy’s various achievements.

Ozzy himself followed, sitting in a giant leather bat-design chair. The metal icon singled out his late guitarist Randy Rhoads and his wife Sharon during his brief speech.

The all-star performance was next, as Tool’s Maynard James Keenan sang “Crazy Train” alongside Wolfgang Van Halen on lead guitar, with a backing band of Chad Smith on drums, Robert Trujillo on bass, Andrew Watt on rhythm guitar, and Adam Wakeman on keyboards.

Do you feel the need – the need for speed? Well, just make sure that speed is set at 33 ½ Rpm because the soundtracks for two Tom Cruise classics, Top Gun and Days of Thunder, are coming to vinyl. But these aren’t any ordinary releases, as both are going to be available in their extended forms.

As per Variety, the Top Gun and Days of Thunder vinyl releases will drop on this Friday, October 18th. While these soundtracks were previously released on CD, these are on 140 gram vinyl. They are also remarkably different from the original albums, as the 1986 Top Gun soundtrack featured only one track from composer Harold Faltemeyer (“Mighty Wings”), with the real selling point being Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone” and Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away”, which would win the Oscar for Best Original Song.

Ozzy Osbourne’s complete solo discography will be collected on an 18-lp box set titled See You on the Other Side V2.0, set to arrive on March 14th, 2025. The release updates a 2019 box set with Ozzy’s two most recent albums, 2020’s Ordinary Man and 2022’s Patient Number 9, as well as additional goodies.

See You on the Other Side V2.0 comes at a steep price of $599.99, but it is limited to 2,000 copies, with each signed by the Prince of Darkness himself. It is available for pre-order from Ozzy’s official merch store.

In addition to all of his studio LPs, live albums, and rarities on vinyl, the box set includes 10 brand-new full-size posters of vintage photos, a gold bat vinyl slipmat, and an individually numbered vellum certificate of authenticity personally signed by Ozzy.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame turns back time this Saturday night to finally welcome Cher as an inductee (to be introduced by double Emmy winner Zendaya). The Oscar winner has been eligible since 1991 and has waited over three decades to be selected. In fact, all of the 2024 newly-elected members have been waiting patiently to be chosen. No first-time eligible music artists were chosen this year.

The 39th annual induction ceremony will be live from Cleveland, Ohio, this Saturday, October 19, at 7:00 p.m. Et; 4:00 p.m. Pt streaming on Disney+. It will be available beginning Sunday on Hulu and will be broadcast later this year on ABC.

Zakk Wylde is stepping away from the remaining dates of the ongoing “Experience Hendrix” tour as he prepares for Ozzy Osbourne‘s second Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.

Wylde is a man of many projects, from Black Label Society to Pantera, but the journeyman guitarist can only be in one place at a time. His involvement in Ozzy’s induction — which honors Osbourne’s solo career, including years of work alongside Wylde — has taken precedence over the remaining five shows of the Experience Hendrix tour (October 15th through the 19th).

Once an indie underdog, Kevin Smith has, in middle age, devoted himself to making what critics and fans alike might characterize as glorified, self-referential home movies, cast with friends and family members and filled with callbacks, in-jokes, and the same familiar anxieties about friendship, romance, and growing up. This is not an original observation.

Corey Taylor, Billy Morrison, and Steve Vai have unveiled an animated music video for their collaborative new single “Incite the Watch.”

The track hails from Morrison’s recent solo album, The Morrison Project, which was released earlier this year and features a stacked list of guest spots from the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol, and more.

Taylor and Vai are among the big names on the album, contributing vocals and guitar, respectively, on “Incite the Watch” — one of the LP’s more experimental tracks. The jumps between muted verses with electronic beats and rousing metal choruses are prime material for the Slipknot frontman, while the virtuosic Vai provides adorning guitar leads.

“Billy and I have known each other for so many years and we’ve done many performances together, it was only a matter of time before we put together something original and fascinating,” Taylor said via a press release.

Billy Idol and his guitarist Steve Stevens performed an acoustic version of Idol’s iconic hit “Rebel Yell” while tethered to a balcony atop the Empire State Building.

After playing the first-ever concert at the Hoover Dam last year, Idol went a step further — and much higher — by strapping himself to a narrow balcony on the 103rd floor of the Empire State Building to play the acoustic number. The platform was originally built as a disembarkation deck for passengers of airships tethered to the Empire State’s spire.

Needless to say, the footage is incredible, with sweeping drone shots showing Idol and Stevens side by side on the small platform above the clouds. Whatever nerves they may have been feeling from the vertigo-inducing heights, neither flinches as they knock out the passionate acoustic rendition — just like they did on the Today show in May.

Sex Pistols members Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, and Paul Cook will reunite for a pair of benefit shows in August, fronted by singer Frank Carter. Each evening will see the foursome playing the Pistols’ iconic album Never Mind the Bollocks in its entirety.

The concerts will take place August 13th and 14th at West London’s Bush Hall, with the proceeds benefitting the historic rock venue. Tickets for the two shows go on sale via Ticketmaster UK on Wednesday (June 5th) at 9 a.m. local time.

Jones, Matlock, and Cook make up the classic Sex Pistols lineup, minus singer Johnny Rotten (aka John Lydon), who will not be participating. With his red hair and dynamic stage presence, British punk rocker Carter should make a fine fill-in for Rotten, as he’s proven via his sensational live shows with his band Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, and before that as frontman of Gallows.

The new solo album from guitarist Billy Morrison is filled with big-name guests, and now he’s tapped Hollywood actor Joe Manganiello for the music video for “It’s Come to This.”

The cinematic clip sees Morrison cruising through the desert in a shimmering blue Shelby Mustang. There is a loose narrative here, so spoilers ahead: Morrison pulls over to dig up a mysterious bag before pulling up to a shack. Manganiello sits on the porch playing a guitar, striking his typical imposing figure.

As Billy approaches, he produces a box from the aforementioned bag. Manganiello takes a peak inside and is immediately blinded by a brilliant light. When “Let It Be” — director Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s original 1970 film about The Beatles — launches on Disney+ on May 8, it will be the first time the film is available in over 50 years. “Let It Be” has been meticulously restored from its original 16-millimeter negative by Peter Jackson and his team at Park Road Post Production.

The new rock band The Effect, featuring the sons of Genesis’ Phil Collins and Toto’s Steve Lukather, have teamed up with Steve Perry himself for a cover of the Journey song “It Could Have Been You.”

Alongside drummer Nic Collins and guitarist Trev Lukather, The Effect are fronted by singer Emmett Stang. On the band’s version of “It Could Have Been You,” Stang’s lead vocals take center stage, with Perry contributing backing vocals and ad libs throughout the track.

An accompanying music video shows The Effect performing the song in silhouette. While Perry doesn’t appear in the video, he did issue a statement expressing his excitement over The Effect covering the 1986 song by his former band:

Billy Idol reached the height of his drug addiction four decades ago, but the 68-year-old has since found a routine that works for him: no more hard drugs, just an occasional crisp glass of wine. In other words, he is California sober.

Billy Idol recently released a 40th anniversary expanded reissue of his seminal album Rebel Yell, and to celebrate the occasion, he performed the classic title track live on NBC’s Today.

The performance is notable in that Billy and his longtime guitarist Steve Stevens play the song semi-unplugged. Following an introduction by Al Roker, the duo are left to their lonesome on the sound stage, creating an intimate and up-close setting for the rendition.

“Beating Hearts” (“L’amour ouf”), an epic crime romance directed by Gilles Lellouche and slated to compete at the Cannes Film Festival, has lured major distributors in key markets ahead of its world premiere.

The sprawling movie, which is budgeted in the $30 million range, is financed, co-produced represented in international markets by Studiocanal. One of the most anticipated and ambitious French movies set for a theatrical release in 2024, “Beating Hearts” was produced by Hugo Selignac at Chi-Fou-Mi, a Mediawan company, and Alain Attal’s Les Films du Tresor.

Studiocanal will distribute the film in Germany and Australia, as well as France, with a release set for Oct. 16. The company has sold it to Cineart in Benelux, Filmcoopi in Switzerland, Feelgood in Greece, Lucky Red in Italy, Lusomundo in Portugal, Kinoswiat in Poland, Greenlight Films in Ukraine, Capella in Russia and Pinema in Turkey. Studiocanal will be closing more deals at the Cannes Film Festival.

The human-resources and finance software company is ready to launch another leg of the ad campaign it launched in 2023’s Super Bowl Lvii, in which popular musicians set the record straight on whether high-performing corporate types ought to be called “rock stars.” In this go-round, two new ads will be seen during The Masters between April 8 and April 14 and in five key overseas markets: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

Concertgoers will get the chance to pick Maren Morris’ set lists on her upcoming RSVP Redux tour. The tour, on which Morris will also celebrate the fifth anniversary of her Girl album, continues the tradition she began on her RSVP tour in 2020.

Each night of the tour, which kicks off this spring in San Francisco, will feature a bespoke selection of songs. Details on how to vote for the set list will be on the artist’s website. There’s even an RSVP on the site addressed “To: The Lunatics.

Ozzy Osbourne, Steve Stevens, and Billy Morrison team up on the new song “Crack Cocaine” from the latter’s upcoming album, The Morrision Project. The single is out now, along with a music video starring Paris Jackson.

After showing his serious side with Green Book, the most derided Best Picture Oscar winner since Crash, then taking a critical drubbing with the Zac Efron vehicle The Greatest Beer Run Ever, Peter Farrelly returns to the kind of unapologetically silly comedy he and his brother Bobby parlayed into box office gold in the ‘90s. At least in theory. Efron gets stuck with another slipshod script in Ricky Stanicky, a sad demonstration that what was once considered outrageous, transgressive and anarchic now just seems crass, tired and witless.

Streaming on Prime from March 7, the movie might tap into the nostalgia of audiences raised on the Farrelly brand of goofy raunch, gross-out laughs, slapstick, escalating chaos and sticky sentiment. The virtual extinction of the midbudget R-rated studio comedies that thrived in the ‘90s might also help, as the success of Anyone But You recently showed.

Peter Farrelly’s Ricky Stanicky concerns a trio of best friends who create an imaginary person to blame for their misdeeds. As the years go by, Dean (Zac Efron), Jt (Andrew Santino), and Wes (Jermaine Fowler) continue using “Ricky” as an excuse any time they want to skip, say, a family gathering or sneak out on a boys’ weekend. In such moments, they simply tell their significant others that Ricky really needs them right now.

That’s a solid enough setup for a film, a kind of coming-of-middle-age comedy in the vein of Jeff Tomsic’s Tag, where the characters’ commitment to a childhood tradition ends up jeopardizing their adult lives in the process. But where the antics of Tag’s characters effectively captured the stupid joy of acting like your younger self while hanging out with your oldest friends, Ricky Stanicky is stupid in a much less joyful way.

Billy Morrison has unveiled “Drowning,” the first single from his upcoming album, The Morrison Project, with the exclusive premiere of the track and music video right here at Heavy Consequence (watch below).

For nearly 15 years, Morrison has been the rhythm guitarist in Billy Idol’s band, following a brief stint as the bassist for The Cult. He also plays in the all-star covers band Royal Machines, and can be heard on Sirius Xm’s Ozzy’s Boneyard channel, where he co-hosts Ozzy Speaks with Ozzy Osbourne himself, among other programs.

As previously reported, The Morrison Project features a bevy of notable guests, including Ozzy, Idol, Al Jourgensen (Ministry), Corey Taylor (Slipknot), guitarist John 5 (Mötley Crüe), drummer Tommy Clufetos, rapper Darryl “Dmc” McDaniels (Run-Dmc), singer Linda Perry (4 Non Blondes), and guitarist Steve Stevens (Billy Idol).

“Drowning” is the leadoff track on the album, and doesn’t feature any special guests.
