British actor of mixed heritage father from Iraq and mother from the Caucuses. Raised and educated primarily in Cairo, Geneva, Paris and California. Trained as an actor at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Appeared in numerous theatre productions with the National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company and Royal Exchange Manchester. Toured US in The Great Game playing at the Public/Skirball NY, the Guthrie in Minneapolis and Berkeley Rep. Did two seasons as General Tariq in US show Tyrant for FX and was in award-winning The Honorable Woman for SundanceTV. Appeared alongside Don Cheadle in the film Traitor, with Jaimie Foxx in The Kingdom and Paul Greengrass' Green Zone. Recently played Gaddafi in Matthew Heineman's A Private War alongside Rosamund Pike.
