Anecdotes
The hiking trail of Susikuru and the surrounding places on Elmeri's map (Karhuvaara, Nojosmäki, Hallavaara, Korpilampi, Korpisuo, and Synkkälampi) are fictional. The series was shot on location in the wilderness of Pihlajistonkorpi in Ylöjärvi and in Kuru. The scenes in the lean-to shelter (Finnish: laavu) were shot on the premises of Yle TV2 in Tampere.

Versions alternatives
A 45-minute compilation film, with all the episodes edited into a movie, was released on home video in 2004 (first on VHS and later on DVD). It's missing the end credits from episodes #1-5 and the opening titles from episodes #2-6.
