Indoors are fun on the rainy days, but now the great outdoors awaits. In the wilderness of Susikuru, they hear the humming of the forest and sense the wild mood of nature. Elmeri has his trusty map, while Ransu relies on GPS technology.

The first morning in the lean-to shelter gets off to a grumpy start. Most of the sandwiches for the trip have vanished. Accusations starts flying around and Elmeri has to solve the mystery of the lost food.

Since the lunch reserves are thin, the boys have to see what nature has to offer. Ransu goes for mushroom hunting, Riku picks up some berries and Elmeri does fishing. What they also find is furious wasps and a tummy ache.

Ransu and Riku learn that the shortest route on the map is not always the fastest. Nor the safest. Accidents can occur, since Ransu and his trusted GPS cannot predict every steep incline and hard descent. Elmeri is enjoying his book.

In the morning, Ransu's sprained ankle is still swollen and sore, and Riku has caught a cold. Elmeri has to bring medicinal herbs and plants from nature's pharmacy for the hungry patients. Time to gather strength for the return trip home.

Since Ransu can't walk, the return home is going to be quite an adventure. Elmeri uses his ingenuity to build a raft and they also have to zip across the rocks. Wolves can be survivors, but now it's just best to live the life of a dog.
