Anecdotes
The bees transform into a BEE-19 'bomber'. The real B-19 (actual designation XB-19) was an experimental (thus the 'X' at the front of the designator) large-size bomber manufactured by the Douglas Aircraft Company around the beginning of World War II. Only one was ever produced.

Gaffes
After Barney has filled his 4 pails with honey and the bees are returning, Barney SCRAMs (as per his "How To Find Wild Honey" book's direction) with the overflowing pails. As the bees pursue, Barney is now carrying 4 empty buckets. However, after he and the empty pails splash down in the pond, Barney surfaces with his face covered in honey.

virtue of the ration book

Barney Bear is out in the forest looking for wild honey. He finds a bee and follows it back to its hive. It's a fun little Barney Bear short. The main issue is the point of the thing. One assumes that they are trying to sell the virtue of the ration book during times of war. This does not do any of that. At best, it's a warning against gathering wild honey. I can see the difficulty with selling the ration book. Maybe Barney Bear could do something else.
