He is a guitarist. He played guitar for The Germs from 1977 to 1980. He played guitar for Nirvana 1993 to 1994. He played guitar for the Foo Fighters 1994 to 1997.
He was the original guitarist for the Foo Fighters. He left the band
shortly after the release of their second album in 1997. In 2005, he rejoined the band as a touring guitarist and became a full-time member in 2010.
