As a general rule, I don't like medical shows and I actively avoid them. I decided to watch this one because it was made by the same people who made The Office. It just isn't funny. It has the potential for great laughs, but it never quite gets there. There's nothing funny or even mildly entertaining about a struggle to get desperately needed medical equipment or a nurse who screws up as badly as the new guy here. The one who wouldn't leave her job to go to her daughter's play was relatable but it never got funny.
The other problem is that the way they handled a serious medical emergency with the woman who had the blood clot was just awful. I've only seen a couple of episodes of Scrubs, but that show handled things like this much better. The characters are colossal buffoons and the idea of them ignoring someone with a serious problem and her passing out in the parking lot is not funny, and it's unwatchable. It is an especially insensitive and cruel plot point to include after the last 4 years, and I would really like to know what the writers were thinking.
This was the first network show I watched as it aired in a long time, and now I remember why. I won't make the same mistake again.
