About the Author
Foreword
I first met Eric when he took my Train the Trainer course. It quickly became obvious that he had a great deal of tenacity and desire to get ahead and succeed in life. Since that time, he has become an extremely well-qualified and highly regarded coach who has developed several powerful programs on leadership and business development. And now he has written this book that you hold in your hands.
As you read The Crystal-Clear Leader, you will notice that Eric talks a great deal about his previous failure as a business owner and how he used what he learned to become a success. This rare transparency from a now-successful leader allows you to not only take the journey from failure to success with him, but it also allows you to deeply examine where you are in your own journey of business and leadership development.
This is not a book to be read and put away on the shelf. It is a book that can and should be read and referred to many times. Each chapter focuses on a specific area of leadership that is critical for success in business and personal development. Make sure to take the time to study and master each one. As you’ll discover, Eric sets a standard for excellence in everything he does. In this book he shows you how to do the same.
I have enjoyed getting to know Eric over the years, both personally and professionally, as he is a member of my Success Accelerator Mastermind group. Now you get to enjoy knowing him too. What I love is that his conversational and optimistic approach to life and leadership comes through in The Crystal-Clear Leader just as it does when you are with him in person.
Enjoy this book, and let Eric help you achieve the success you are looking for. I promise you will be glad you invested the time to do it!
—Jack Canfield, coauthor of the #1 New York Times Best-selling Chicken Soup for the Soul® series and The Success Principles™: How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be.
Preface
You have something in common with Napoleon, Tom Brady, and Queen Elizabeth I—you are a leader!
The statement above is true. Whether you lead a large corporation, small business, or nothing at all, you are the leader of your own life.
As Brian Tracy often says, Leaders are made, not born.
Another great leader, John Maxwell, says, Everything rises and falls on leadership.
These statements are also true. I know this firsthand because I’m living proof! I thought I was a leader; I thought I was a good one, too. But as you will learn, I couldn’t have been more wrong . . .
The story of my previous failures and how I became the leadership and mentoring coach I am today will be told in depth in the following introduction. In the rest of
