The rest was okay. The love triangle is getting deeper and I hate it. Sorry but I cant stand love triangles and the only one I tolerated here was between darcy Orion and the tree they fucked against.

But beside that the actual academy scenes were fun. I like the friend group they’ve got going on and the trials were written well enough for me to only skip a few pages....more

But this book was soo different from book 1. Ophelia is still slightly psycho but we read a different pacing and the problems are less life and death and more “how can we have kids one day if you don’t open up?” Shit. But we see a totally different side of Phee too. She’s more vulnerable and let’s her demons out for Storm to see.
But I was happy she was finally letting it out. I was happy to feel her trembling in my arms because that meant she was healing. It hurt right now, but we couldn’t run away from everything we felt. Us humans, we were such peculiar creatures. Some of us could handle it all, while others—the broken ones—couldn’t stand feeling anything. The broken ones taught themselves not to feel, because we knew that even the smallest emotion could destroy the carefully crafted façade around us. Believe it or not, happiness was the toughest emotion for all of us, because we thought we didn’t deserve it. So, we tried to avoid it.

Oh god here we go. I did not enjoy this book. I mean it was entertaining. Fast paced. Shit was happening. People getting killed. Others getting knocked up. I didn’t hate it but dear lord it was ridiculous. Our hero is an assassin who fucks women for information and then slice their throats while hes inside her. lovely Our heroine is….well shes just there. Shes in the family and married to his brother. Hence she’s “forbidden”
There was a line I never crossed when it came to Eden. Her garden wasn’t mine to plow my seed in.
I gotta be honest. I don’t like the chick. She’s not doing much for me. Tristan was an asshole but she cheated on him and she slept with him dreaming of his brother and yeah sorry no. I don’t like characters like that. No matter how much I rooted for them to get together; that shit just gets to me. I cant stand it when the woman is just pining after someone while she was married. I think what pissed me off the most was that she kept saying she slept with Romeo before they got married. Like it wasn’t cheating? They were engaged. I’m just a sensitive person lmao. Im not gonna blame the heroine for Tristian becoming a drunk asshole, but he was worshipping before he found out about them sleeping together and AT THAT POINT, he didn’t deserve to get cheated on.
And the Romeo was just plain asshole. Now that I think about it…. I hate everyone in this book. But I couldn’t stop reading. He was rude and cruel and hurt her because he cant have her. But god I love a pining hero.
Whilst being sensitive, im also a petty bitch lmao, so I got immense satisfaction watching the H hurt when the h got hitched with his brother.

The kid was adorable. Just kept talking and talking and talking. But it sort of annoyed me how most of the time the author used the kid to blurt out stuff that inturn leads to a conversation between the MC’s. Like its stupid how they needed a third person to start talking about shit that matters. The Mystery in the book:

Don’t get me wrong there were some parts of the book I couldn’t help but like. Example when the hero confesses his feelings in pain and realizes that they’re both in this neverending- heartbreaking mess because of his martyr dumbass. “You’re drunk, okay? Let’s just get you—” “—Home.” I barked out a laugh, “Funny, since home has only ever been wherever you are.” Overall this book was meh. I don’t regret reading. I loved this book oh so much. The angst and slow burn was so perfectly done.

It had everything I want. The perfect amount of ‘ I hate you because I still love you’ and the writing was excellent. It made my heart tighten more times than I can count.
Story in short is basically : Nate and Sam living in America in 1778. Deliriously in love. But on opposing sides on how the war should go. Sam, true to his beliefs, declines the oath of loyalty and is punished brutally for his actions and banished from America. Years later they are reunited and forced to work together on a mission and we see Sam struggle with his feelings for the man that stood by and did nothing as he got beaten and abused. And we see Nate try get through to Sam and apologise.

The transition was Enemies to lovers was so effortless. I didn’t even notice it. It all seemed so smooth and natural and it was fucking satisfying. The was Sam softened and lowered his walls slowly. It was beautiful.
