What is Image Quality how to I make my images print as best as possible.
Answers

  • Image quality is part art, part science. Generally, low resolution website pictures look terrible on signs. Web pages need to load quickly, so people visiting a page don't leave the organization's website. If high definition pictures are on the page, the page will load slowly. Thus, nearly every internet picture you find on a storefront or news page is low definition. It might look good at 2' x 2', but will look terrible at 12' tall. Before uploading a picture, zoom in. Is it grainy? Does the edge look crisp? If not sure, email us the image, let us know how big you want it, and we will let you know if it will look good enough to be persuasive. Sometimes, for a small fee, we can use commercial software to improve the quality. Files that are 100 kilobytes (kb) or less, even up to 1000 kb, are often too low quality to use on all but the smallest signs or decals.

Google Images has the ability to display only high definition pictures- play with the settings. However, that does not mean you are legally allowed to use the image. Make sure before you use it. Often, people are honored to have someone use their picture, and say yes, if you ask nicely.

Modern camera phones take excellent images if you choose the highest quality setting. Likewise, tablets can take great pictures, usable for signage products.

  • Available Colors for printing depends upon the printing method you choose. Silk Screen signs and decals have standard colors that do not incur any additional fees. If you desire a specific silk screen color, called a PMS color, we advise you call in to discuss your job. We have color matching experts. There will be an additional charge, to hand mix ink colors, for this service. This is the only way to guarantee Brand Guidelines and Specific colors are achieved. If the product you choose is digitally printed, we can likewise print with calibrated equipment to achieve specific CMYK values. Again, a phone call is recommended.

  • At this time, we do not offer exact Pantone (PMS) color matching for our digitally printed signs. We can however offer PMS approximation. This means we will do our best to get as close as possible to your requested color(s). If you are ordering screen printed signs or shirts, we can certainly provide Pantone PMS color matching. Additional fees may apply. Call for details.

  • Since we are based in Tampa, Florida, we know from experience that the sun’s UV rays can take their toll on printed ink. Even with direct sun exposure, our banners can easily last for 2-3 years, even longer if not in direct sunlight. If your banner is hung inside, it will last for many years.

  • Grommets are metal punched eyelets that allow you to hang your banner at multiple points. Grommets are used with our standard 13oz vinyl banner material. Power tabs are used in the same way but they are made of a thin, clear plastic and have a hole punched in them to allow you to hang your banner. Because we do not hem our 18oz vinyl banner material, the thin plastic tabs are stuck to both sides of the banner and add a similar reinforcement as the hem.

  • Pole pockets are a fold, typically on the top or bottom of a banner that allows for a pole or rod to be inserted inside it. The pole pockets are not sealed, they are open ended on both sides, which allows you to easily remove the poles whenever you like. A great example of when to use pole pockets is for a Hollywood-style step & repeat backdrop banner for an event. The pole pockets allow for easy mounting on an optional step & repeat banner stand.

  • Yes, we can print on both sides of our 18oz banner. It is considered a blockout material so light does not pass through which makes it perfect for double sided prints.

  • Our standard vinyl banners are printed on 13oz material, hemmed with double sided tape and finished with nickel grommets every 2’-3’. Your banner can be customized in many ways including adding pole pockets, additional grommets, and wind slits. Our 18oz double sided banners do not get a hem and our step and repeat banners come with pole pockets standard.

  • Our banners have an expected outdoor life of 2-3 years under most conditions. Areas with extreme sun exposure and high winds will reduce the life expectancy of both the print and banner material itself. For areas exposed to medium/high winds, we recommend wind slits or switching to a mesh banner material. The only exception is our canvas banner material which is only meant to be used indoors.

  • Our vinyl banner material is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. For indoor use banners, we suggest choosing a matte finish banner to help reduce glare from overhead lighting. Canvas material, however, is only recommended or indoor use.

  • We have quite a few banner options, but our most common is 13oz vinyl banner. If you need something stronger, we offer an 18oz blockout banner. It also the material for two sided banners. We also carry a mesh banner material for high wind installations and a canvas banner material for a “high-end” look.
