Cooperative diversity (CD) is an effective technique to exploit the spatial diversity offered by wireless relay nodes. However, since the cooperating terminals typically use orthogonal channels for transmission to simplify processing at the relays and the destination, CD entails a throughput reduction [1, 2]. This throughput reduction is most noticeable in CD systems with multiple source terminals since in such systems the relays use separate orthogonal channels to forward the signals received from different sources.

Cooperative diversity represents a new class of wireless communication techniques in which network nodes help each other in relaying information to realize spatial diversity advantages. This new transmission paradigm promises significant performance gains in terms of link reliability, spectral efficiency, system capacity, and transmission range. Cooperative diversity has spurred tremendous excitement within the academia and industry circles since its introduction and has been extensively studied over the last few years.

Abstract We consider an amplify-and-forward (AF) cooperative diversity system where a source node communicates with a destination node directly and indirectly (through multiple relays). In regular multiple-relay cooperative diversity systems, all relay nodes relay the source signal using orthogonal channels (time slots, carriers, or codes) to avoid cochannel interference. Hence, for a regular cooperative diversity network with M relays, we need M+ 1 channels (one for the direct link and M for the M indirect links).

Abstract In this paper, we study network-coded cooperative diversity (NCCD) systems comprising multiple sources, one relay, and one destination. The relay detects the packets received from all sources and performs Galois field network coding. We propose a simple cooperative maximum-ratio combining scheme for the destination which is shown to achieve the maximum diversity gain of the system.

Abstract In this paper, we investigate the performance of a single-relay cooperative scenario where the source, relay and destination terminals are equipped with multiple transmit/receive antennas. We assume that conventional space-time block codes are employed in the underlying source-to-destination (SrarrD), source-to-relay (S rarr R) and relay-to-destination (R rarr D) links, and consider both decode-and-forward (DaF) and amplify-and-forward (AaF) relaying techniques.
This study basically aims at gathering information on the impact of office Information and Communication Technology on the performance of the professional secretary at the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Takoradi. The descriptive survey method was used for this study. A total sample of 100 professional secretaries was used in this study. Questionnaires involving both open and closed ended questions were used to collect data. This study showed that there are computers, photocopiers and telephones in every office of the professional secretaries in the habour, however, not all the offices have electric typewriters, scanning machines, shredding machines, fax machines and duplicating machines. The result of the study also showed that all the secretaries accepted that the introduction of Information and Communication Technology in their offices has ensured increased in efficiency in their performance and has also made it possible for them to implement major changes as well as making corrections easily. As a result, it has and also ensured accuracy and uniformity in their performance. The secretaries strongly agreed that, the introduction of Information and Communication Technology has positively improved their performance level in their offices and this has contributed positively in the office.
