Principles

Whilst the raison d'être for strategic human resource management (SHRM) was an admirable one in 1984, its implementation has not been a success story. This paper discusses why the time is now right for the ideals of SHRM to be re-framed and introduces new ways of working. A key to this change is moving away from the notion of organisational control, to one of focusing on the work itself and its relationship with the Purpose and Strategy of the Organisation. This approach aligns with our new model of organisational design and management-Futocracy. We set out in some detail the continuing journey for the human resource (HR) function from its origins of humble administrative functions to its current level of sophistication across just about everything relating to employing and controlling people at work. In doing so, we argue that the HR function is lost within its own success, which is predominantly inward focused.

The globalization process that is taking place all over the world requires the clustering of education as well as other areas. Globalization has led to a sharp increase in competition in the education services market. In this competitive environment, the cluster is a means of counteracting the power of globalization. The integration of education, science and industry around a common goal increases their potential. The pedagogical education cluster provides this cooperation. The article is based on the scientific view that the provision of competitiveness of subjects in the market of educational services by means of a cluster. The concept of the pedagogical education cluster is described and its needs, mechanisms, principles and directions of implementation are identified. The authors have extensively commented on the goals, objectives, principles and directions of the pedagogical education cluster. The organizational, practical significance and theoretical basis of the implementation of the pedagogical education cluster are described. The authors have sought to base their views on the opinions of Western scholars. Scientific researches of Western scientists on the educational cluster have been analyzed. There are scientific conclusions concerning social, economic, legal, marketing and pedagogical implications of clustering education.

This paper aimed at unearthing practices driven by the Adventist-Teacher recruitment process in order to determine achievement of the organization's goals. The study was conducted in Adventist Schools in Bulawayo. The schools have a population of about 218 teachers. The study followed a mixed method of research, where quantitative-descriptive statistics were used to discuss findings. A sample of 106 teachers was chosen using the stratified sampling to respond to a self-administered questionnaire. Simple random was used to choose teachers from within each stratum among the three Secondary and Five Primary Schools. In the schools selected, the teachers' list was used, and either odd numbers or even numbers were used as respondents. Through purposive sampling, three Secondary and five Primary School heads were chosen to respond to interview questions indicated in this study. It is important to note that teachers and school heads did not agree on issues regarding induction and mentoring. Primary data was collected and analyzed using SPSS. Tables and graphs were used in the presentation and discussion of findings. The study established the link between the Recruitment processwhich aims at the integration of faith and learning-and Redemptive practices to be positive at Pearson's r 0,696. The interaction of the Recruitment process and the cutting-edge practices recorded a Pearson's r of 0,589. The recruitment process appeared to be operating below the ideal standard. The study revealed a poor teacher induction and mentoring process in the schools studied.

Abstract: In this research, a specific category of construction technologies, e.g., formwork, is selected for case study. 40 invention principles and 39 engineering parameters were applied with contradiction matrix to find out the “improving ” and “deteriorating ” parameters for a design case. By consulting the contradiction matrix, innovative principles can be found. It is concluded that TRIZ provides an effective approach for improvement of construction problem solving in terms of time and cost. Moreover, the principles identified by TRIZ also assist the construction technology researchers in searching direction for technology advancement. Forty innovative principles of TRIZ are used in this article to analyze the patents of formwork engineering in the construction industry in Taiwan and to investigate current innovative trend, besides, contradiction matrix is used to investigate the innovative concept of operability and automation demand of formwork.

Cities, from their precincts to their hinterlands, have always been critical for the sustainable development. At the same time, sustainable development now faces unprecedented and increasing challenges. The complexities of contemporary social life are compounding. It is not just climate change and ecological crisis that we are confronted with, including what is now being called the Great Acceleration of resource-use and ‘the sixth extinction’ of species. We are also faced with economic unsettling and tensions over increasing inequalities, crises of cultural meaning and upheavals of politics, which taken together add up to a Great Unsettling. ‘Principles for Better Cities’ is a collective response to that set of tensions. The document attempts to meet those contradictory needs by outlining a set of layered principles (Part I) while providing a method for translating between other existing charters, frameworks and sets of principles such as the Sustainable Development Goals (Part II). This document was commissioned by the Sustainable Cities Collaboratory and the City of Berlin to guide cities through the complexity of creating vital, sustainable, productive and relational places to live. It is one of the outcomes of the Metropolis project 'Sustainable Cities Collaboratory' led by the City of Berlin.

This study is aimed for developing a survey-based mathematical model specifically for measuring the timeliness of handheld applications usage. This study is designed to achieve five major objectives: identifying the elements for measuring timeliness, analyzing contributed factors of timeliness measures, developing a model for measuring timeliness, constructing formulas for measuring timeliness as well as prioritizing the overall timeliness of handheld application usage. As a result, a mathematical model namely Timeliness Measurement Model (TMM) is developed in which outlined thirteen timeliness measures in three different hierarchy levels of metrics, attributes and criterions. This model can be used for analyzing the timeliness of handheld application usage.

Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM) is a critical practice with the goal to achieve alignment between Information Technology (IT) and the core business of the organization; however, EAM needs to be carefully implemented with consideration of many factors that would impact the success of the practice. In this paper, a model for identifying the success factors of an EAM practice was developed, which consisted of seven factors. The data analysis has shown a strong relationship between the success of EAM practice in an organization and four of the seven model factors; these factors are: unit purpose definition, top management buy in, knowledge about the strategy, and principles and policies existence. Knowing these success factors can help EAM practitioners to focus their efforts on them and pay less attention to the unrelated factors.

The prayer-books of the Ashkenazi communities contain a version of the statement of faith that Maimonadies (Rambam) initiated - the "Thirteen Articles of Faith", each one opening with the words: "I believe with a perfect faith". Our scholars, as well as many learned men, have claimed that a scrupulous comparison between this version and that of Rambam's, points to differences in emphasis and even to substantial disparities. This article reviews those disparities, demonstrates the various ways in which the rabbinic world reacted to this phenomenon, and suggests an entirely new direction. The author exposes a manuscript with a longer version from which, in his opinion, that in the prayer-book was abridged. With its help, he suggests the principles that guided the anonymous author of the list in the prayer-book. Moreover, he shall show that the prayer-book version continues to be dynamic; many changes have been introduced, and are still being introduced to this day.

Good neighbourliness is one of the most important aspirations of international law relating to harmonious interstate relations. Developing out of the ideas of territorial sovereignty and equality of states in international law, good neighbourliness is among the key underpinnings of the peaceful coexistence between states. The exercise of the state rights inherent in full sovereignty is only possible where the idea of good neighbourliness is respected in governing interstate relations. In contrast, the violation of good neighbourliness, particularly between contiguous states, can lead to tensions, if not military conflicts. This contribution goes into meticulous details in providing a multi-faceted assessment of all the crucial aspects of the good neighbourliness principle in both international and EU legal contexts. To achieve this, it splits into two parts. The first part clarifies the legal framework of good neighbourliness in international law, i.e. its legal basis and the corresponding rights and duties of states in international law. The second part analyses good neighbourliness within the EU context. The starting point of such analysis is the acknowledgment of the new legal order of the Union, which exists autonomously from international law, but is bound by an obligation to adhere strictly to the latter’s norms and principles, and, as expressly mentioned, the UN Charter. There is a stark difference in the application of the good neighbourliness principle in international law and EU law. While in the case of the former respect for ‘good fences’ may indeed make good neighbours, in the case of the latter it is not the borders, but precisely the lack thereof in a number of crucial contexts of inter-state inter-connections, which is key for the proper understanding of the principle in question. EU values play a central role in the functioning of the supranational legal order, determining the developmental framework of good neighbourliness principle in the constitutional system of the Union.

The graphic world of logos is interesting and creative. In this paper, we have pleaded about 'the graphic technique' to design good logos using a few essential principles to do it. To draw a graphic representation, as a logo, somebody has to know a peculiar language made of symbols, signs, colours, geometric shapes and words. Because the typology of logos is interesting and allows to create icons, logotype and complex graphic representations. Our study has analysed a lot of logos to identify the main principles 'to build' them. It was a hard work of observation and explanation about logos using many examples. We think we have shown the power of graphics in our study.

Four innovations added to the V.I. Vernadsky's concepts on the biosphere in recent author's publications were summarized. These innovations are as follows: (a) a new typology of the matter in the biosphere; (b) modernization of the concept of the biogenic migration of chemical elements; (c) a new, fourth, biogeochemical principle; and (d) a more detailed presentation of the concept of a substantial infl uence of organisms on physical and chemical parameters of the biosphere: namely, the development of a new theory of the multifunctional role of the biota in water self-purifi cation in the hydrosphere.
