Education hubs in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates: Analysis of discursive constructions using Latent Dirichlet Allocation Highlights  Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) is employed to analyze the discourse of education hubs in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE)  In Qatar and UAE, education hubs have been at the core of efforts to transition from a hydrocarbon-based economy to a knowledge economy.  The two countries are engaged in 'constructive rivalry' in which education hubs are associated with the two countries' efforts to achieve regional leadership in overlapping geopolitical spheres of influence.  Four topics are associated with education hubs: the knowledge economy, national development, market for education, and regional leadership

El presente artículo de reflexión aborda los conceptos que explican la relación entre el conocimiento y el crecimiento económico. Se analiza como el conocimiento es abordado por los principales exponentes desde la teoría clásica, neoclásica y finalmente la teoría moderna del crecimiento económico. Se reflexiona al respecto del papel de la creatividad, la innovación y el ingenio humano como un factor inmerso dentro del progreso material de la sociedad.

لاشك  ان ثورة الاتصالات وظاهـرة انفجار المعلومات وانتشـار استخـدام تكنولوجيا المعلومات وتطورهـا، أدى إلى حدوث طفرات مجتمعية تمثلت ابرزها في اقتصاد المعرفةKnowledge-Based-Economy ) )، وان تطور هذا النمط "اقتصاد المعرفي" يرجع اساسا لدور المعلومات الذي لا يمكن انكاره في كافة مناحي الحياة الانسانية، عليه لم تعد المعلومات مادة البحث العلمي والتعليم بمراحله المختلفة، والتدريب والتأهيل واستراتيجيات القيادة ومقومات المنافسة في الانتاج وخطط التسويق والاعلان وتقديم الخدمات وما الى ذلك فحسب، بل اصبحت الوسيلة الحاسمة التي تقرر فاعلية كل ذلك.
  لذا فقد فرضت التغييرات الاجتماعية والسياسية والاقتصادية والتقنية منذ نهاية القرن الماضي، تحولات جذرية في مسار التعليم العالي ودوره بالنسبة للتنمية الاجتماعية والثقافية والاقتصادية، ولبناء مستقبل الجيل الجديد وتزويده بالمهارات والمعارف والقيم الجديدة.
  عليه تركز هذه الورقة البحثية بشكل أساسي على استقراء الاحداث المعاصره التي أدت لتطور الاقتصاد المعرفي، ومؤشراته  وتأثيراتها علي ضرورة تنمية الرأسمال البشري، وباعتبار ان التنمية أمست محوراً مشتركاً لمعظم الانشطه الإنسانية وتطبيقاتها مما استوجب ضرورة التخطيط لاستشراف تحديث التعليم والتعلم لانتاج الرأسمال البشري لقيادة مسيرة التحول نحو الاقتصاد المعرفي .

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى استنتاج عدد من المقترحات لتنويع الموارد الذاتية بجامعة حفر الباطن في ضوء رؤية المملكة 2030، الاستفادة من نقاط القوة الداخلية والبنية التحتية بالجامعة والفرص الخارجية والموقع الجغرافي لاستثمار مستدام، أن تكون جامعة حفر الباطن بيئة جاذبة للاستثمار من خلال تعزيز الميزة التنافسية، الاستثمار الأمثل للموارد المالية وتنويع مصادر الدخل في الجامعة للاستقلال التدريجي عن الدعم الحكومي. وقد استخدم الباحث المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، لملاءمته لموضوع الدراسة وأبعادها وأهدافها. اعتمدت الدراسة على إرسال استبانة إلكترونية مكونة من 22 فقرة موزعة على ثلاثة محاور (بيانات أولية - الابتكار والاستثمار – الميزة التنافسية) عن طريق إيميل التواصل الداخلي الخاص بجميع موظفي جامعة حفر الباطن من القيادات الأكاديمية والإدارية وأعضاء هيئة التدريس. بلغ مجموع العينة (1507) فردا، منها (819) عضو هيئة تدريس، و(688) موظف إداري. تم استرجاع (339) استبانة صالحة للدراسة والتي قمنا بتحليلها باستخدام برنامج الحزم الإحصائية SPSS بهدف الوصول إلى نتائج الدراسة النهائية. أظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن علاقة الابتكار والاست...

 In this study, we extended the practice of six city theoretical systems, namely “sustainable city,” “eco-city,” “low-carbon city,” “smart city,” “resilient city,” and “knowledge city” to obtain a clear understanding of, the sustainable development of contemporary cities. The study was divided into two parts: First, we executed a review of the literature on the six city theoretical systems, and second, we combined the practice of international organizations and cities corresponding to the aforementioned theories. This paper tries to explore the nature and content of interaction among the university, industry and government in the Greenfield development of the Multimedia Super-corridor (MSC) created by the Malaysian Government, and the Brownfield development of the software industry cluster in Hyderabad. The paper attempts to understand generative and developmental roles of regional knowledge cities – Cyberjaya and Cyberabad, in terms of the interaction among R&D institutions, industrial clusters, social, cultural and policy environment, and the consequent outcomes. Analysis of the interplay of these factors would shed light on the variations in the levels of interactions and the place of knowledge cities in the global context.

As information and communication technologies (ICTs) change economic and social activities creating a new economic paradigm based on the production and processing of knowledge, all aspects of human life are being transformed, including cities people live in. The geographic information in agriculture is an important factor in a wide range of decision making problems, not only because management practices differ from one location to another, but also because the space defines the perception of farmers and ultimately determine the meaning of a parcel and of a river basin. The ability of farmers and groups of farmers, to manage the rural space is a prerequisite for a reliable design and implementation. However the involvement of users in decision-making problems is limited by the lack of connectivity and networking at all levels (both in technical and conceptual aspect). The aim of this work is to provide a dynamic web service to users, based on time and space diversified information and knowledge, through the development of an interactive online electronic platform for displaying digital thematic backgrounds that applies to agro-environmental data. The online interactive electronic platform that was developed consists of four subsystems, a WebGIS software, a software of developing an Online Community, a software of environmental reports and an online support system.

Design studio is characterised by a teaching model that is distinctly suited for problem-solving. Correspondingly, literature, including information produced by Australian faculties of architecture about their courses asserts that design studio is modelled around problem-solving. However, my research into design studio handouts found a common omission in posing a ‘problem’—a problem that would justify a design solution and from which the ´significance´ of the task would derive. I argue that a well-articulated design problem imbues the case with purpose and significance. It also provides a benchmark against which the results can be assessed and verified.

To learn from the cities of the Arabian Peninsula, particularly the most controversial and dynamic among them (places like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha), does not mean celebrating them or ridiculing them either. Instead, the authors in this book follow the intellectual footprints of the architectural scholars Robert Venturi, Denise Scott Brown, and Steven Izenour, who looked at a city nearer at hand and in their own time. In their now classic Learning from Las Vegas, they went beyond seeing Las Vegas as tasteless, materialistic, or aberrant and insisted that it had important lessons for all places.1 According to them, the city needed to be studied on its own terms— an insistence that changed not only future understandings of Las Vegas but also of architecture, planning, and urban thinking more generally. In their view, “Withholding judgment may be a tool to make later judgment more sensitive. This is a way of learning from everything.”2

Based on the concept of Informational Cities, which are the highly developed prototypical cities of the 21st century, we conducted a regional comparison of four Japanese cities in terms of their “cityness” and “informativeness”. The purpose of our articles is to specify the theoretical framework for measuring the informativeness and cityness level of any desired city, to quantify the chosen indicators in order to compare the investigated cities, and finally, to conclude what is their advancement level in terms of a modern city of the knowledge society. Services performed for customers from the nature are very flexible – so preparation ontology for such goals must include dynamic aspects. The goal of this paper is creation dynamic ontology for relationships type of C2C (Citizen to City). It is especially important in knowledge management at the local level of administration in case of monitoring uncompleted matters, evaluation of effectiveness of clerks representing selected departments or in decisions of administration restructuring. In this paper we propose a dynamic-oriented knowledge model, designed to distribute and manage urban knowledge as a representative of local self-government.
