In this report,  the authors  describe the AlCRP project of CIFA, wherein  various  types of feeders were  tested for fish ponds and the results that were obtained.  They tell us about  Fibre  Re-inforced  Plastic  (FRP) based "demand" fish feeders in Kaijang«  Village in Khorda dist  in Odisha.

The present research work deals to assess water quality with reference to physico-chemical property of creeks located in Surat city, Gujarat. Water quality was checked for the parameters like pH, temperature, chloride, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate and silicate. Samples were collected from three sites during the month of October-2012 to March-2013. Pearson correlation was applied to express relation between various parameters. The study reveals that water may be contaminated due to the industrial effluent, sewage waste water and other organic pollutants.

The algal samples were collected monthly, from selected four sampling stations of Al-Diwanyia river at Al-Diwanyia City from September 2015 to June 2016. A total of 145 species belong to 44 genera of epipelic algae were recorded from four sampling stations throughout the study period. In the present study, Four biodiversity indices (Richness index, Shannon-Wiener index, Evenness index and Jaccard Similarity index) and one pollution index (Diatomic index) were employed to study the water quality of Al-Diwanyia river. The score of Diatomic Index ranged from 1.71 to 3.56. The score of each site confirmed moderate to high pollution. Considering all the water parameters, biodiversity indices and pollution index, it was clearly shown from the results of the present study that the water quality of Al-Diwanyia river was affected from anthropogenic actitivies at the river. Thus, algal communities were used as bioindicator of pollution of river.

Climatic impact on algal communities is analyzed by comparing two unpolluted river ecosystems, the Oren River of Mediterranean zone, Northern Israel and Zin River of the Central Negev Desert, Southern Israel. Bio-indication method was used for assessment of ecologically significant variations in the composition of algal communities in both rivers. Our analysis highlighted the distinctions in taxonomic diversity and abundances of both salinity tolerant (halobic) and alkaliphilic groups of algae. The ratios of high halobity to low halobity species are appreciably lower in the Oren River than in the Zin River. Although geological substrates are carbonates in both cases, the indicators of alkalic water are more prominent in the Zin River than in the Oren River, in which pH is buffered by organic substances from vegetation and soil. As a result of CCA analysis, we recognized two types of ecological communities, the alkaliphilic (high pH tolerant) and halophilic (high TDS tolerant) types. Predictably, the halophilic communities will be favored with further climate warming. The effects of climate change and anthropogenic pollution are synergistic in the case of the pollution-sensitive Chara community falling under high risk of extinction under the ongoing climate change.

Phytoplankton are the basic component of the aquatic food chain. To date phytoplankton
communities from the coastal waters of Bangladesh have received only little scientific attention.
Consequently, the abundance and community composition of phytoplankton and their
relationship with some abiotic factors were studied during December 2014 to August 2015 in
the Reju Khal estuary of the south-eastern coast of Bangladesh. Marked seasonal differences
were observed for all of the measured abiotic factors. The density of the phytoplankton cells
ranged between 9408 and 21,964 cells L
−1
and had significant differences among seasons. Over
all seasonal samples, 27 genera were identified of which Biddulphiawas found to be the most
contributory one (13.6%) followed by Coscino discus(7.9%) and Nostoc(7.8%). Marked seasonal
differences in the community structure of phytoplankton were confirmed by the multivariate
analyses. Further, phytoplankton populations had strong positive correlations with pH, salinity,
total dissolve solids, and Secchi depth
