New Jersey Fines DraftKings $100,000

This week it was revealed that the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement laid down a $100,000 fine to operator DraftKings for sending erroneous data regarding sportsbetting operations to the regulator.

The data sent had errors related to amounts of money bet on parlay bets, multi-tiered bets, and other categories of wagers. The bad data resulted in Resorts Digital filing bad reports for the months of December 2023, January 2024, and February 2024. Regulators then had to go back and correct and re-post the data that was sent.

DGE Acting Director Mary Jo Flaherty addressed the issue in a letter to DraftKings, stating: "These types of gross errors and failures cannot be tolerated in the New Jersey gaming regulatory system."

DraftKings is one of the largest gaming operators in the United States, and has been working to shore up markets in which they offer sportsbetting and casino services. The company generated $1.18 billion in revenue during the first quarter of the year, but posted an operating loss of $138.8 million.
