This week it was revealed that the Virginia Lottery has fined Rivers Casino Portsmouth a whopping $545,000 after the casino was found to have breached multiple state regulations since it opened last year.
Rivers Casino Portsmouth has been in operation since January 2023, serving as the first permanent location in the Old Dominion. Since opening, state regulators found that the casino allowed minors onto the casino's floors, and also let self-excluded gamblers into the facility. These offenses occurred during different periods of the year, suggesting the issues weren't flukes.
Additionally, the company was found to have lapses in security controls, reporting revenues, issuing accounting reports, and having lapses in table game rules.
As of press time the casino hasn't issued comment on the matter.
