Sportsbetting operator Tipster Ltd has had its German sportsbetting licence suspended by the country's gambling regulator Gemeinsamen Glücksspielbehörde der Länder (GGL) after the regulator found the company wasn't meeting the requirements of its licence.
The revocation comes with immediate effect, with no reason given for the pulling of the licence by GGL. It was alluded that there was a breach related to player protection. Earlier this year there were a number of raids conducted against an unnamed gambling operator, with police looking into a criminal organisation and illegal gambling services. While the company that was raided wasn't formally disclosed, German tabloid Bild reported that the company raided was Tipster.
Tipster is currently facing insolvency and has appointed a lawyer to help navigate them through the case. The Tipster.de domain was down at press time.
Regarding the decision, GGL board member Ronald Benter said, "We take consistent action against licence holders if they violate elementary rules of the State Treaty on Gaming."
