Looka THAT!

Even though there was plenty of trouble in the world in 1966 (is there a year when there's not?), I have fond memories of that year, and of course Pogo was a collecting cornerstone for me, along with so many other cheap thrill treasures.

My copy of Prehysterical Pogo did go blooey, but I'm happy to report that since those blogging days I found a near-mint 1st edition replacement copy.

Stalling For Time

Just so ya know, I've been stalling for time so's I could begin an ongoing sequence of 1962 dailies dating from January 1, ON January 1. I can't guarantee that I'll make a post each and every day (this is going to be a very busy year for me), but I'll attempt to and if I don't then I'll catch them up on the days I CAN make it.

Got it?

EGG!

Here's another Kandi the Cave Kid by Kelly. Two different sets of scans showed up here, one from OtherEric and the other from Barry, both great friends of this blog. Each set had something different and better than the other, so I combined them in editing to come up with 4 pretty pages. Kelly has drawn quite a few monkeys, birds and dinosaurs over the years, and these are some of his earliest.

As I've said, some of the items that show up on Whirled of Kelly have been seen elsewhere on the net or in books at one time and place or another, but I want to have most all of Kelly's stuff to ultimately end up here on this site, and with high quality scans at that!

Thank you OtherEric and Barry!

Our Retread Prince, Jack Acid

I would be remiss to not follow the last post on The Prince of Pompadoodle with this Pompadoodlish fairy tale. The drawing of the castle/fortress is delicious and the next to last page is tasty as well. Well, the whole tale is a buffet of delight, all about communists and fascists and nazis, oh, and chimps. If only I understood it.
