Getting ready for Christmas Craft Sale season

Image
My sewing room is a mess! I dumped out 2 Rubbermaid bins of scraps and unsorted fabrics to make room for hauling finished products to my first Christmas craft sale of 2013. I'm a list maker, so I've made an inventory list of what I'll be bringing and checking it against what I can actually find in my closet. Chaos rules, but piece by piece, this mess will disappear and I will be ready for the sale! Piles of fabric scraps  I don't remember how I packed it all up last year - the large quilts are NOT fitting nicely into the tub! And this is the first year I've packed a pillow - definitely bulkier than the quilts! I definitely have more table runners than other years and I'm looking at a way to hang them so they are easier to look through - maybe a clothing rack! packing quilts  And I hope to pack the small items right inside their display cases (aka whatever baskets and containers I can find here at home!) I've only got a few more days to figure it al...

Sewing Room Update

Image
I was surprised by my sweet husband this weekend as he helped me lug the bunkbeds to their new home downstairs and sent me off to IKEA to buy the frames for the bargain desk tops I found on Kijiji over a year ago. The end result is a room just for me - a sewing studio with a huge table for spreading out fabrics and cutting boards. The spot will not affect wear and may disappear over a few washings. Price Reduced from $110 to $60 - Buy Here! I fou...

All Cleaned Up!

Image
It took most of the week, but the sewing room is cleaned up! Still have a lot of organizing to do in the big walk-in closet, so I'll show you that on another day.  All ready for the next project! This is my workspace, just a sewing machine and a cutting mat on a desk. The little quilts hanging just on the top left of this photo are all quilts I've received as part of the mini quilt exchange on Flickr. Ann's workspace!  To the right of my desk is my design wall - nothing fancy, just some inexpensive white flannel tacked to the wall. Easy to take down if needed, but large enough for a good size quilt. The blue, yellow and purple blocks are swap blocks I've received over the past year from fellow quilters all over the world. This will be my next big quilt to finish as soon as I figure out how I will put them together. In the small space between the door and the closet is shelving where I keep all my buttons and knick knacks. The picture at the top is a pencil drawing...
