Tis The Season

Ta-da! Tis The Season is finished in time for the blog meet and Christmas. I'm very happy with my hand quilting.......I like all those straight lines now.

This is my favourite block.

My portable sewing has been a couple more of these little Christmas cushions by Gail Pan. I love Running Postman from Cottage Garden Threads.

Posted my SSCS on Monday, but still enjoying some festive sewing. Hope you are too.

Blog meet

Looking forward to meeting up with some fellow bloggers for lunch and shopping at The Home Patch on Saturday 24 November. Pop over to Chookyblue for more info.

With that in mind I am trying to finish my TTS for show and tell. Just quilting straight lines in the borders. I hope this hot weather goes away so I can keep going.
Hope you're having a good week.

TTS

Finished my TTS top today.

I was so lucky to find enough of Scandinavian Christmas in the tiny red spot. At Hatched & Patched of course.

Now it has joined the quilting pile. Aaaaargh......I think I have too many projects on the go.

TTS

As so many kind bloggers pointed out earlier this week, there is only 3 months until Christmas! So I've had my TTS laid out on the floor to look at the borders. In case anyone was wondering, there is very little Scandinavian Christmas fabric left - anywhere.

I have found enough of the red at The Home Patch (that's just a scrap in the photo), and if I use the cream snowflake I will have to piece small bits together to make the border. I think it will look okay pieced. I really don't want to buy more fabric for this project.

Just like everyone else, I am busy working on my secret sewing, so not a lot to show.

Fingers crossed that the predicted rain does actually come today. Have a happy and safe long weekend.

Saturday Night Stitching

It's amazing the difference that one less child in the house makes. Mr 11 was at a sleepover last night, and everyone else was doing their own thing, so I did too.
The Nest is the last stitchery for In Full Bloom.

And this is the centre of the quilt, with the pile of border pieces. Not sure when that will happen.

Talk of Christmas is creeping into the blogs, so I did some more TTS. Only one and a bit left to do.

I also made a list of projects on the go - not quite sure how it got so long! So I'd better get stitching........after I make the boys mow the lawn!

Enjoy your Sunday.

Stitching and printers tray

With hubby away for a couple of nights, I've been busy doing some stitching. I think the Topiary block is one of my favourites from In Full Bloom.

And another month closer to finishing Tis the Season.

Lots of bloggers collect thimbles or other small objects, I thought I'd show you how I display mine. I bought this wooden printers tray on eBay a year or two ago. It will be a while before it's full, but if you enjoy miniature things it's a great way to display them. I have also seen trays covered in glass and used as a coffee table top. I left the tray as is with runners and handle rather than taking them off and pretty-ing it up.

It was so warm yesterday that we didn't even have the fire alight, although the toes are a little chilly this morning. Hoping to spend some time in the sunshine today............and maybe a little more stitching.

Happy Saturday

We are having a lovely day at home, even though it has included a bit of housework. It's just nice not having to go anywhere.
I think this is a better Partridge in a Pear Tree than the smudged one from a few weeks ago.

Hubby has picked some of his mandarins. How cute are these little guys? They are really sweet and yummy, but very small.

I have had my first live chat online with another blogger today - feeling very tech savvy.
And then I also realised that it's my first blogaversary today. I have learned so much and made so many great new friends in one short year.
Thanks for reading my blog, even if you don't comment, it gives me a thrill knowing that somewhere out there lots of people love their sewing as much as I do.
The fire is going, the roast is on and it's time to stitch - it doesn't get much better than that.

Anni's project bag

Family life has been getting a bit in the way of sewing lately. So I took myself off to a corner last night and worked on the project bag from The Simple Life - considering the mood I was in I probably should have chosen something a bit simpler, but here is the inside. I have finished the gorgeous bunny stitchery on the front, but I'll show you that when I finish the bag. And my second go at partridge in a pear tree for TTS.

Tonight, I have a funny little bit of mending to do for work........ these fellows have a couple of holes that need stitching up before the stuffing falls out.
I can't believe it's August tomorrow, the year is just flying by. Hope you're having a happy week, and finding a moment or two to yourself.

Yoghurt anyone?

My last attempt to save my stitchery involved natural yoghurt. It did work a little, but it may have been hampered by my earlier attempts. The stitchery is headed for the bin because I can't stand looking at it.

The boys were very nervous about what might have been for tea.

And just to prove that I am not only an Anni addict.................

......... I am a Marg Low addict as well. This one will hold a special piece of jewellery for another niece's 21st in September.
Soaking up the sunshine and the last day of school holidays today.

Thank you

Thanks for all the ideas of how to salvage my stitchery. I have tried a couple, but the running is still visible. My last attempt will be today using natural yogurt - i'll let you know how i go. Hubby thinks it's just extra artistic effect, but I know I won't enjoy looking at it. It's only a quick stitchery so I'll just re-do it and be more wary of red thread in future. This is how my TTS looks so far. I think it will definitely need a nice red border to lift the colours.

I need to get going with In Full Bloom. Month 5 arrived yesterday and I haven't finished last month. This one is called Watering Girl.

I am still slowly working on hand quilting my stars quilt. I have 54 squares left, so have set myself the challenge of doing at least 2 a day so I should be finished in a month or so. I have so many little bits and pieces on the go that I am really looking forward to a big finish.

Hubby has gone to the Mudgee Small Farm Field Days today to look at tractors. The equivalent of quite a lot of fat quarters if you ask me!

Have a great weekend.

Aargh!!

Can you see where I started the new skein of thread? I rinsed this stitchery last night, to find it like this today. Not happy. Weeks Dye Works 1331 Brick, in the BIN. I think I will just stay with DMC thread in future.

On a brighter note, we had this delicious Tiramisu for dessert last night courtesy of Mr 11. It's from the Junior Masterchef cookbook, and is probably his all time favourite recipe. It has no coffee or liquer, and uses orange to make it a rather tasty alternative that everyone can enjoy.

I feel like eating some more now, to make up for my thread malfunction.

Rain, glorious rain again today. Not so good for the Mudgee Small Farm Field Days, but excellent for lazy Mums enjoying the last of the school holidays. Have a great day.

Weekend Stitching

Jack Frost has been overnight. It was a beautiful, freezing frosty morning. In between soccer games and sleepovers I've been doing some stitching. Another block finished for In Full Bloom.

And Tis the Season - Christmas Reindeer

I bought a fabric pack for Anni's zippered bag at the craft show and decided to make a start on it last night. There is only one downside to fabric packs - if you make a mistake and draw your appliqué design on back to front, AND cut it out wrong, well, there isn't any spare fabric left. So my ground is slightly spotty instead of sprinkled with daisies. Not really a drama, just annoyed at myself. I used to really love buttonhole appliqué, but I'm not so sure any more. Now that I can do needle turn I think it's my preferred method.

It kept me occupied whilst I waited for the eleven year olds to go to sleep. Why do we have sleepovers????

Some family time chopping firewood today. Hope you're keeping warm and enjoying the weekend.

Still quilting

The problem with hand quilting is that it takes sooooooo long. I could just post the same photo over and over until my Stars Quilt is finished. That's what  I've mostly been working on, with a little bit of stitchery too. I have finished two more TTS blocks - Christmas Wreath and Christmas Angels.

I have also been drooling over The Simple Life, and if the weather turns out as predicted for the weekend, there is a high probability that I will make a start on the turtle pincushion (I'll just have to hide from the family).

Stitching away

After the ANZAC march yesterday I spent a lovely afternoon catching up on some stitching, with the fire going. There's something about spending two weeks together in a motorhome that makes a family come home and head in their own direction for a while!

Keeping up with TTS - Chilly Penguins.

Block 2 of In Full Bloom. I love stitching hollyhocks.

I really need to get back into some patchwork - seem to be just stitching lately.

Off to Bathurst to see my parents today - and maybe just a little visit to The Home Patch.

More GDITC...., TTS

These swings are outside the Nundle Woollen Mill - aren't they a great idea.

We shared our table with three girls from Queensland : Cheryl, Susan, Sam, Ann-Marie, Lynda and Bronne.

I'm a little bit ahead on TTS, this is the April block.

I added another row of clamshells to my GDITC block last night. It's lovely to work with such a pretty fabric range.

Busy, busy with my GDITC pincushion, and hand quilting.

Tis the Season

When I started my blog last August, the Stitch Along was well into TTS. It has been great to see everyones finished quilts - and it helped me choose my own colours and layout.
So Ann-Marie, Sam and I have made our own TTS schedule, to have it finished for Christmas 2012.

I'm using Lynette Andersons Christmas fabrics, and I have jumped the gun and finished my first block (sorry girls - Feb is only a few days away!).

None of us own whips (as far as I know) so if anyone missed out last year please feel welcome to join us - we only want to keep each other motivated.
