About the rapidity and helicity distributions of the W bosons produced at LHC / Manca, Elisabetta (INFN, Pisa ; Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore) ; Cerri, Olmo (INFN, Pisa ; Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore) ; Foppiani, Nicolo (INFN, Pisa ; Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore) ; Rolandi, Gigi (INFN, Pisa ; CERN ; Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore)
$W$ bosons are produced at LHC from a forward-backward symmetric initial state. Their decay to a charged lepton and a neutrino has a strong spin analysing power. [...]

Dark Matter as a weakly coupled Dark Baryon / Mitridate, Andrea (INFN, Pisa ; Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore) ; Redi, Michele (Florence U. ; INFN, Florence) ; Smirnov, Juri (Florence U. ; INFN, Florence) ; Strumia, Alessandro (Pisa U. ; INFN, Pisa ; CERN)
Dark Matter might be an accidentally stable baryon of a new confining gauge interaction. We extend previous studies exploring the possibility that the DM is made of dark quarks heavier than the dark confinement scale. [...]

The last Complex WIMPs standing / Bottaro, Salvatore (Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore ; INFN, Pisa) ; Buttazzo, Dario (INFN, Pisa) ; Costa, Marco (Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore ; INFN, Pisa) ; Franceschini, Roberto (Rome III U. ; INFN, Rome3) ; Panci, Paolo (Pisa U. ; INFN, Pisa) ; Redigolo, Diego (CERN ; INFN, Florence) ; Vittorio, Ludovico (Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore ; INFN, Pisa)
We continue the study of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMP) started in [arXiv:2107.09688], focusing on a single complex electroweak $n$-plet with non-zero hypercharge added to the Standard Model. The minimal splitting between the Dark Matter and its electroweak neutral partner required to circumvent direct detection constraints allows only multiplets with hypercharge smaller or equal to 1. Closing the window on WIMP Dark Matter / Bottaro, Salvatore (Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore ; INFN, Pisa) ; Buttazzo, Dario (INFN, Pisa) ; Costa, Marco (Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore ; INFN, Pisa) ; Franceschini, Roberto (INFN, Rome3 ; Rome III U.) ; Panci, Paolo (INFN, Pisa ; Pisa U.) ; Redigolo, Diego (CERN ; INFN, Florence) ; Vittorio, Ludovico (Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore ; INFN, Pisa)
We study scenarios where Dark Matter is a weakly interacting particle (WIMP) embedded in an ElectroWeak multiplet. In particular, we consider real SU(2) representations with zero hypercharge, that automatically avoid direct detection constraints from tree-level $Z$-exchange. [...]

Quark masses, CKM angles and Lepton Flavour Universality violation / Barbieri, Riccardo (Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore ; INFN, Pisa) ; Ziegler, Robert (CERN)
A properly defined and suitably broken $U(2)$ flavour symmetry leads to successful quantitative relations between quark mass ratios and CKM angles. At the same time the intrinsic distinction introduced by $U(2)$ between the third and the first two families of quarks and leptons may support anomalies in charged and neutral current semi-leptonic $B$-decays of the kind tentatively observed in current flavour experiments. [...]

Supergravity at 40: Reflections and Perspectives / Ferrara, S. (CERN ; Frascati ; UCLA) ; Sagnotti, A. (Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore ; INFN, Pisa)
The fortieth anniversary of the original construction of Supergravity provides an opportunity to combine some reminiscences of its early days with an assessment of its impact on the quest for a quantum theory of gravity..

Investigating the near-criticality of the Higgs boson / Buttazzo, Dario (CERN ; Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore ; INFN, Pisa) ; Degrassi, Giuseppe (INFN, Rome3 ; Rome III U.) ; Giardino, Pier Paolo (Pisa U. ; CERN ; INFN, Pisa) ; Giudice, Gian F. We extract from data the parameters of the Higgs potential, the top Yukawa coupling and the electroweak gauge couplings with full 2-loop NNLO precision, and we extrapolate the SM parameters up to large energies with full 3-loop NNLO RGE precision. Then we study the phase diagram of the Standard Model in terms of high-energy parameters, finding that the measured Higgs mass roughly corresponds to the minimum values of the Higgs quartic and top Yukawa and the maximum value of the gauge couplings allowed by vacuum metastability. Stable wormholes in scalar-tensor theories / Franciolini, Gabriele (Geneva U., CAP ; CERN) ; Hui, Lam (Columbia U.) ; Penco, Riccardo (Carnegie Mellon U.) ; Santoni, Luca (Columbia U.) ; Trincherini, Enrico (Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore ; INFN, Pisa)
We reconsider the issue of whether scalar-tensor theories can admit stable wormhole configurations supported by a non-trivial radial profile for the scalar field. Using a recently proposed effective theory for perturbations around static, spherically symmetric backgrounds, we show that scalar-tensor theories of "beyond Horndeski" type can have wormhole solutions that are free of ghost and gradient instabilities. Real-time reconstruction of long-lived particles at LHCb using FPGAs / Cenci, Riccardo (INFN, Pisa ; Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore) ; Di Luca, Andrea (INFN, Pisa ; Pisa U.) ; Lazzari, Federico (INFN, Pisa ; Siena U.) ; Morello, Michael J. (INFN, Pisa ; Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore) ; Punzi, Giovanni (INFN, Pisa ; Pisa U.) /LHCb Collaboration
Finding tracks downstream of the magnet at the earliest LHCb trigger level is not part of the baseline plan of the upgrade trigger, on account of the significant CPU time required to execute the search. Many long-lived particles, such as $K^0_S$ and strange baryons, decay after the vertex track detector, so that their reconstruction efficiency is limited. [...]

A muon collider would enable the big jump ahead in energy reach that is needed for a fruitful exploration of fundamental interactions. The challenges of producing muon collisions at high luminosity and 10 TeV centre of mass energy are being investigated by the recently-formed International Muon Collider Collaboration. [...]
