First off… this is a rough take. I just really felt like sharing.

This is a song I wrote over the years that I really haven’t completed yet. The structure of the main body of the song, with lyrics, is pretty solid… but I just jam out the intro and the ending.

I recorded this on October 31st at my friend Trung’s house. It was just on his laptop… nothing special…

Oh and I was drunk.

Live Performance by Shane Stowers, Rob Sassi and Zach Dowdell.
Bass tracked by Rob Sassi.

Special thanks to Ivan for recording us!

If any of you have been following me long enough to know about this guy.

I just wanted to share some exciting news. On top of finishing the storyboards for the short film, we also got our mastered version of the music back!

Right now, I am flushing our the boards and really trying to make improvements as we see them. There is also a lot of concept art being tossed around for the backgrounds and side elements. I am really excited to move forward on this project, and I hope you will take a moment to take a listen! :)

Day 39: December 7th, 2013, “Whiskey Child.”

We got into the studio to record a good quality live version of Whiskey Child over the weekend. Zach Dowdell joined us on the djembe. We’ll keep you updated on that. This is our first studio recorded song we’re releasing, so we’re pretty excited!

Hey guys, this is a short video about our studio session we had on Saturday to record the track for “The Whiskey Child” project I’m currently working on.

Lately, I know I haven’t been posting that much, but that’s mainly why. I’ve been working at my job a lot and really just trying to iron out the boards to our liking in my “free time.” After that, I’m going to start flushing out the character designs.

I’m sure you’re all familiar with this project to some degree by now if you’ve been following me. If not, you can click here to scub through some concept art stuff.

Chuck by Rob Sassi

Chuck is the second track on my solo EP.
This was a studio remake of a song that I originally improvised at my ex-co-worker’s house after work one day. I saw a guitar laying in his house and asked if I could jam out on it, and he complied. I normally just mess around and make up lyrics for fun.
He enjoyed what I was doing. As I was about to leave, he had some clients walk in (he tattoos), which led to him saying I should make a song about everyone before I head out. I decided to record it on my phone and I liked it enough to try to capture it again with this recording.
Again, everything is performed by me EXCEPT the drum kit… That was Ivan.
The original song is here!

P.S. The abrupt ending will make more sense in sequential order.

Things Will Never be the Same by Rob Sassi

This is the last track on my short 4 song solo EP that should be completely mixed here within the month.

It’s also the only song I wrote that is not from 2013… but rather, 2007-2008? I can’t even remember.

This current recording is a new take on the old song (which was originally recorded on my laptop) and I just kept the main bass-line, the rhythm guitar and lyrics. I essentially improvised all the layers on top, besides drums. That was my friend Ivan, who actually recorded this project for me as well.

This was more of a laid-back recording session for me, but I think Ivan is doing a pretty good job with everything.

Ghost Of Big Dan Pt 2 by Big Dan

I’m playing the lead throughout this jam and also singing on and off. This is something Shane and I were messing around with. I really liked how the rawness of the recording turned out.

The tragic death of Big Dan still haunts us today…
The ending of this season will be later this month! Start tuned for the HIGHLY anticipated finale.

Hey there.
I wanted to share a playlist of this season’s Big Dan episodes… because the season finale is sometime at the end of this month.
Shane and I are starting to consider doing more of this type of stuff and more often. It’s pretty weird, but also kinda cool, I like doing them haha.

Anyways, idk how my followers will feel about these videos, but if you have time, give it a watch! And if you like any of it, you should subscribe to our youtube channel! haha thanks, have a good day!

Solo EP Progress

Guys, I’m wide awake right now after crashing around midnightish. That’s when I got home from recording more of my solo EP yesterday. I’m listening to what was tracked so far in the two sessions and it’s really coming together. I’m so excited to finish it next week and let it go into mixing.

I recorded four songs which all have different, but similar influences ranging from reggae, indie, punk, grunge, folk, and more. All the vocals and instruments on it so far except the drum kit are performed by me.

It’s seriously going to be kickass. I experimented a lot on this project. Three of the songs are ones I’ve written over the past few months (intentionally or not) and one is an old one from 2007. I have a lot of content, but I wanted my EP to flow nicely… so I picked accordingly. I really am interested to see how people respond, because it’s my first hi-fi release of a solo album (I’ve only recorded one solo song otherwise previously years ago). Most of my recordings are low-fi and some people might not take it seriously enough.

With anticipation, I bid you farewell for now. Stay tuned! :)

Thoughts

This was a song I recording for a friends sound mixing class. I just started off with the rhythm guitar, and slowly added more instruments.

I performed everything except the drums.

Also, this is a few years old… I just never posted it online anywhere.

Don’t Let Your Soul Get Trapped Today!

I was in a room full of strangers at my boy Chucks…
He was about to Tattoo someone and told me that if you have a continuous tattoo that wraps around your body… your soul gets trapped… and I tried to improvise a jam about the moment.
