Tasks which might be a good fit for new contributors in Wikimedia's outreach programs like Google Summer of Code or Outreachy.
If you are interested in mentoring, create a task with a pre-populated template!
A task in this project should take a new contributor 2-3 months and an experienced contributor 2-3 weeks to complete.
Task descriptions should follow the following format and must be clear enough for new developers to get started:
- Project title: Name of the project
- Brief summary: In 8-10 lines
- Skills: Programming skills, specific technologies and Phabricator project tags
- Possible mentor(s): Phabricator username
- Microtasks: Links to easy and self-contained tasks on Phabricator that students could work on to get familiar with the project. GSoC / Outreachy candidates are required to complete microtasks during the application period to prove their ability to work on a three month long project
