- power storage device 110 When charging power storage device 110, power storage device 110 is charged. Depending on the SOC, the charge power that can be supplied to the power storage device 110 may be changed. Until the SOC reaches a predetermined reference value ⁇ (for example, 80%), charging using large charging power is allowed. On the other hand, if the reference value ⁇ is exceeded, the allowable charging power is limited to a small value. This is mainly due to the acceptance characteristics of the power storage device. For example, in the case of a lithium battery, when the SOC approaches a fully charged state, the battery acceptance characteristics deteriorate, so even if charging is performed with high power, charging corresponding to the supplied power cannot be performed.
- ⁇ for example, 80%
- the DC charger 210 has a larger rated capacity than the AC charger 200 in order to perform high-speed charging. Therefore, in the case of charging with high power, DC charger 210 has better charging efficiency than AC charger 200. However, when the output power is limited to a small value, the charging efficiency may be lower than when charging with large power, and the charging efficiency may be worse than that of the AC charger 200 (the curve in FIG. 5). W10). When charging power is limited in this way, it may be preferable to use the low-power AC charger 200 for charging rather than the high-power DC charger 210 from the viewpoint of charging efficiency.
- the rated capacity of the DC charger 210 to be mounted is smaller than the total power supply capability of AC power and DC power that can be supplied from the charging stand 500, and charging is performed using only the DC charger 210. However, there may still be remaining power in the charging stand 500. In such a case, it can be expected that the charging operation using the AC charger 200 in addition to the DC charger 210 is completed in a shorter time without lowering the charging efficiency.
- charging is performed by selecting an appropriate charging method in consideration of the charging state of the power storage device, the charger specifications, and the like. Charge control to improve efficiency.
- the charge control process in the first embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS. 6 and 7.
- FIG. 6 is a flowchart for explaining details of the charging control process executed in charging station 500 and vehicle 100 in the first embodiment.
- the flowcharts shown in FIG. 5 and FIG. 6 show main programs stored in the vehicle ECU 300 for the vehicle 100, the communication units 515 and 525 for the charging station 500 in FIG. 3, and the power supply ECU 550 in the case of FIG.
- the processing is realized by being called from the routine and executed in a predetermined cycle. Alternatively, some or all of the steps can be realized by dedicated hardware (electronic circuit).
- step (hereinafter, step is abbreviated as S) 200 vehicle ECU 300 determines whether or not connector 410 is connected to DC port 222 based on connection signal CNCT_DC.
- vehicle ECU 300 performs the same process on the AC side as on the DC side. That is, in S250, vehicle ECU 300 determines whether or not connector 410 is connected to AC port 221 based on connection signal CNCT_AC.
- vehicle ECU 300 activates communication unit 205. Further, vehicle ECU 300 outputs an AC charging start request signal to charging station 500 in a wired manner at S280. Thereafter, vehicle ECU 300 receives information transmitted from charging station 500 via the communication unit in S290, and determines whether or not AC charging is possible according to the information.
- vehicle ECU300 performs the process which is later mentioned in FIG. 7 based on the information of the chargeability determined in S240 and S290.
- charging station 500 determines whether or not a DC charging start request signal has been received by wire from vehicle 100.

Remains. Therefore, if the process proceeds to S350 and AC charging is possible (YES in S350), vehicle ECU 300 further proceeds the process to S360 to execute charging using both AC charging and DC charging. On the other hand, if AC charging is impossible (NO in S350), the process proceeds to S370, and vehicle ECU 300 performs charging using only DC charging.
