  • compositions In particular, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal activities of these ozonized compositions have been described. Moreover, the use of these compositions for topical applications has been described both in therapeutic and cosmetic fields.
  • ozonized cod liver oil has particularly advantageous technological and applicative features compared to both the untreated raw material and vegetable oils subjected to ozonization.
  • cod liver oil exhibits much higher antimicrobial activities than those observed in ozonized vegetable oils or fats.
  • the ozonization treatment does not change the typical tissue and epidermal regenerative properties of cod liver oil, considering its natural components (especially vitamin A and vitamin D).
  • the present inventors have found that, in contrast to ozonized vegetable oils, the ozonized cod liver oil is not irritating to the skin and has unexpected technological features and unexpected features with respect to spreadability, organoleptic properties and physical and chemical stability, allowing also perfect miscibility with the various auxiliary substances commonly used to obtain specific pharmaceutical forms.
