Description

TITLE CONFECTIONERY STORAGE AND DISPENSING DEVICE
DESCRIPTION The present invention relates to a confectionery storage and dispensing device.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION The confectionery storage and dispensing device of the present invention provides. single unit into which may be stored confectionery to be eaten and which may also carry utensils for consuming the confectionery. The device is also provided with a dispensing arrangement such that confectionery may be dispensed therefrom. The confectionery storage and dispensing device is preferably in the form of a vehicle, simulating a conventional ice-cream van from which confectionery is vended at the roadside.
The confectionery storage and dispensing device is intended as a novelty item for children.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Figures 1 to 4 show an embodiment of a confectionery storage and dispensing device 10.
The confectionery storage and dispensing device 10 comprises a body 12 which is shaped as a vehicle having wheels 13 and other features of a vehicle as shown in the drawings.
The vehicle shape is preferred since it simulates a conventional ice-cream van from which ice-cream and other confectionery is vended at the roadside. The confectionery storage and dispensing device 10 comprises storage compartments 14 in which confectionery may be placed. The openings of three of the storage compartments 14 may be covered by a lid 16.
One of the storage compartments 15 has an opening 18 at the bottom thereof. The opening 18 is connected to an outlet nozzle 20 by a tube 22. This storage compartment 14 is provided with a piston-like insert 24 whose exterior surface 26 is slidably contactable with the interior surface 28 of the storage compartment 14. This is best seen in Figure 3.
The storage compartments 14 may be moulded with the body
12. The left hand side of the body 12 is provided with receptacles 28. The receptacles are arranged to contain dispenser bottles 30. The receptacles 28 are of substantially cylindrical form and are provided with a slot 32 to enable ready removal and replacement of the dispenser bottles 30 from and to the receptacles 28.
The receptacles 28 may be moulded with the body 12, as shown in Figures 1 to 4.
The right hand side of the body 12 is provided with receptacles 34. One of the receptacles 34 is arranged to contain a number of stackable cups 36. Spoons and/or forks 38 may be stored in the uppermost cup 36. The other receptacle 34 is arranged to contain a number of stackable cone shaped containers 40. This receptacle 34 may have its inner bottom surface contoured to the shape of the cones 40 for snug stacking. The receptacles 34 are of substantially cylindrical form and are provided with a slot 42 to enable ready removal and replacement of the stackable cups 36 and stackable cone shaped containers 40 from and to the receptacles 34.
The receptacles 34 may be moulded with the body 12, as shown in Figures 1 to 4.
The left hand side of the body 12 is also provided with an inwardly extending recess 44 therein in which a larger sized serving spoon or fork 46 may be stored. The recess 44 is located at the lower portion of the body 12, and may be moulded with the body 12.
The body 12 is formed with a recessed portion 48 beneath the nozzle outlet 20. The manner of use and operation of the confectionery storage and dispensing device 10 will now be described. The storage compartment 14 having the opening 18 is filled with ice-cream (or other suitable confectionery) . The other storage compartments 14 are filled with other confectionery suitable for consumption with and/or in addition to ice-cream, eg chopped nuts, biscuits, ice-cream, toppings etc.
The dispenser bottles 30 are pre-filled with selected flavourings for addition to the ice-cream. To dispense ice-cream from its storage compartment 14, one of the cups 36 or cones 40 is removed from the receptacles 28 or34 and placed beneath the outlet nozzle 20 adjacent the recessed portion 48. The piston-like insert 24 is then placed over the opening of the storage compartment 14 having the opening 18. The piston-like insert 24 is then depressed into its storage compartment 14.
Since the exterior surface 26 of the piston-like insert 24 is in sliding contact with the interior surface of storage compartment 14, the downward movement of the piston-like insert 24 forces ice-cream out of the opening 18 through the tube 22, and out through the outlet nozzle 20. The ice-cream discharged from the outlet nozzle 20 falls into the cup 36 or cone 40 being held beneath the outlet nozzle 20.
The recessed portion 48 allows the cup 36 or cone 40 to be held directly beneath the outlet nozzle.
Figure 5 shows, by way of example, three alternative outlet nozzle types, 20a, 20b and 20c. These are interchangeable and allow the ice-cream to be dispensed therethrough in different sectional shapes.
Once sufficient ice-cream has been dispensed into the cup 36 or cone 40, the user may add other confectionery or toppings to the ice-cream from the other storage compartments 14. The serving spoon or fork 46 may be used for this purpose. Alternatively, one of the spoons or forks 38 may be used. Flavouring from the dispenser bottles 30 may be added to the dispensed ice-cream, as required. In Figure 7 there is shown another embodiment of a - confectionery storage and dispensing device 10'. The embodiment shown in Figure 7 is essentially identical to the embodiment as shown in Figures 1 to 5, except that the stackable cups 38, cones 40 and the dispenser bottles 30 are carried by the body 12' in an alternative manner.
Accordingly, in Figure 7 the right hand side of the body
12' is provided with a rectangular recess 50* formed therein. A pair of "C" shaped clamps 52* are mounted in the wall of the recess 50'. For this purpose the clamps
52' have a mounting face 54'. A clamp 52' is shown separately in Figures 8a and 8b. The clamps 52* are resilient.
An open ended cylindrical holder 56' is retained by each of the clamps 52'. The holders 56' are each provided with- circular ridge (obscured) on the internal wall thereof.
These circular ridges are provided at the lower portions of the holders 56'.
The bottom cup 36 or cone 40 of the respective stacks has its lip seated on the circular ridge inside the respective holder 56'. The remainder of the cups 36 and cones 40 are stacked one within the other in their respective stacks inside the holders 56' .
A corresponding recess 50* (not shown) is provided on the left hand side of the body 12. "C" shaped clamps 56' would also be attached to this recess 50* to retain the dispenser bottles 30.
