UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIoE.
RIOIIARD CONWAY, OF CARROLL, IOWA.
DESIGN FOR A CLAPBOARD-MARKER.
SPECIFICATION forming of Design No. 34,568, dated May 28, 1901.
- Application filed January 4, 1901. $erial No. 42,112- Term of patent 3 years.
T 0 ctZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, RICHARD CONWAY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oarroll, in the county of Carroll and State of Iowa, have invented a certain new and useful Design for a Clapboard-Marker; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to a novel design for a clapboard-marker as employed by carpenters and builders for marking clapboards and siding to indicate the proper point to cut the same at its intersection with the cornerboards or casing in constructing a building.
The object is to produce a design for a clapboard or siding marker that shall be simple in construction, facile in operation, and greatly facilitate the time and labor employed in fitting the siding or clapboards to buildings.
To this end the novelty consists in the particular design for the clapboard-marker, substantially as herein shown and described.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective View of the design for the clapboard-markerembodyingmyinvention. Fig. 2 is a transverse section of the same. Fig. 3
is a perspective view of my clapboard-marker, taken from the opposite side to that shown in Fig.1.
The essential feature of my design for a clapboard-marker consists of the top plate A, formed with the orifices a a near its ends and having its longitudinal edges serrated and turned at right angles to the top plate to form the parallel sides B C, as-shown very clearly in Figs. 1 and 3. One of the parallel sides has its ends elongated beyond the serrated edge, as at O O, to form the guides, which bear against the corner-board when the marker is in operation.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, 1s
The design for a clapboard-marker, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
RICHARD CONWAY.
