I zen of the UnitedStates, residing at McDonald, in the county of Washington and State 1 ofv Pennsylvania, have linvented certainy new j and useful Improvementsin Curtain-'Polev IoY Brackets; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exactv description of the in vention, such asfwill enable others skilled in the art to which it appertainsto make 4and use the same, reference being had to the laccompanying drawings, and to the figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification. n 'p y This invention relates to an improved curftainepole bracket; and it comprises a means whereby the bracket may be extended beyond and attached to the top portion of the Window-frame, a means for attaching the curtain-pole thereto, together with the certain details of construction and combination of parts, as will be fully described hereinaf ter. v v

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of one of the brackets having one end of a curtain-pole supported therein, said bracket being provided with my improved means for attaching the same to the window-frame. Fig. 2 is an end sectional elevation -of the same, said `section being taken on the line X X of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the' bracket removed from the window-frame. Fig, 4 is a detailed perspective view of the eccentric and its connected strap used in connection with the curtainfastener.

To put my invention into practice, I first provide a bracket comprising a body portion 3, an integral part 4, forming the bracket proper, a horizontal integral flanged member .10, adapted to rest -upon the top of the win-l dow-frame 20, said member being formed with slots 1 1 extending in the direction of its length, by means of lwhich screw-eyes 19" zontal member of the bracket is provided with a slot 3, which extends downward a short distance into the part 4, forming the brace, and serves to support the forwardend of'a bar 8, the rear end of which isconnected by athumb-screw 9 in such manner that the said bar may be moved in or out and clamped at any desired position. f ,The forward endof ward above the said barand is iitted'withfa set-screw 7, thesaid looplbeing adapted to 4receive one endfof'the curtain-polel and be clamped therein by means of the screw-v7. .Y this construction of an bracket the curtainA polefl may be adjustedtoward'orawayffrom thevwindow-frame 20a limited distance, rand end of the said frame, as will be seen by ref-v erence to Figyl ofthe drawings.

This bar 12 comprises a thinstrip of wood or other `material of a length almost equal to that of the pole 1 and is provided at each end with one IOO or more saw kerfs or slots 13 to break the rigidity of the bar at those points. This bar `12 is formed at the ends with reduced por-f tions 14 to operate in connection with the n cams 17 which hold said bar in position.

it is only necessary to place the same over the top, and when said curtain has been adjusted to the proper position the bar is partly Ito y 7o by means of the horizontal disposed member 10 the bracket may be extended beyondmthe inserted in the slot 2, forcing the curtain therein. The ends of the bar l2 are attached to the pole by passing the links 16 over the same and the said bar pressed tightly in position by revolving the cam 17 to the position .shown in dotted lines at Fig. 1 of the drawings.

The advantages of a bracket for curtainpoles lconstructed as set forth are obvious, and various slight modifications and changes may be made in the same Without departing from the spirit of the invention. Therefore I do not Wish to confine myself to the exact constructions shown and described, but Wish to claim all such modified forms as would come properly Within the general scope of the invention.

I-Iaving thus described my invention, What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The herein-described curtain-pole bracket comprising the bracket proper and means for attaching the curtain-pole thereto, a horizontally-disposed member arranged at right angles to raid bracket, said member be-` ing slotted for the reception of screw-eyes and provided with an angular perforated iange along its length, whereby the bracket may be attached to either a vertical or hori Zontal surface.

2. The hereindescribed curtain-pole bracket comprising the bracket proper and means for attaching the curtain-pole thereto, a horizontally-dis osed member arranged at right angles to sai bracket, said member being slotted for the reception-of screw-eyes
